Hehe...I bought a Shepherd one couple weeks ago.

[–]mactirefuil 2 points3 points ago

...no link to your blends?

[–]Jadis4742Madly in love with Adagio[S] 11 points12 points ago

I'm still new here. I don't want to be "that stupid noob who promotes their own shit all the time"...it's actually against the rules on some of the other boards I frequent. I just wanted to share my excitement when someone does decide to take a chance on one of my teas.

But the link is in the comments of the "I have an addiction 3" post if you're still interested.

[–]Woolio 5 points6 points ago

Go ahead, post a link. I'm sure nobody will blame you for it. It's about tea, and that's why we're here, right?

[–]benalene 14 points15 points ago

for those that don't want to work for it, here is the link in the aforementioned post.

[–]Numl0k 12 points13 points ago

Oh, come on! You're obviously using a throwaway account to promote your own blends! You're not fooling anyone, mister! BAN THIS SHILL!

;)

[–]benalene 11 points12 points ago

checks how long she has been a redditor

5 years

Yep, totally a throwaway ;)

[–]MC_Cuff_Lnx 16 points17 points ago

benalene sits illuminated by computer screens in a dark corner of a nondescript office. Putting the tips of her fingers together, she cackles.

"At last, after five years of planning, I'll finally be able to surreptitiously promote blends of my making on the vaguely social website of a company in which I have no ownership interest!"

She continues to cackle as the room fades to white. Our story resumes on a busy Boston street-corner, where stands Thurston Numl0k. He's 6'1, gawky, wearing a tweedy summer-weight sport coat and a pair of brown slacks. He's the very model of an upstart ACE DETECTIVE. He's pensively fumbling with his corncob pipe. He's on the verge of a BRILLIANT DEDUCTION.

"Why would she be a redditor for five years prior to linking that list of blends. Unless..."

His eyes widen as it dawns on him.

"She's going for the long shill!"

He clasps his hat on as he runs down an alley and out of frame.

Ohmigod, I just got back from spending 6 hours in the hospital with my Dad (he's fine) and this was just the best thing to read! Thanks everyone!

[–]Numl0k 2 points3 points ago

I never said you weren't a very dedicated throwaway! It's all been leading up to this.

[–]TechnoL33T 0 points1 point ago

5 year club is exclusive!

[–]TechnoL33T 0 points1 point ago

Woah, that website is glorious!

[–]packetinspector -1 points0 points ago

I certainly don't want the subreddit to turn into an advertising forum so I don't agree with your encouragement to the OP.

[–]mactirefuil 1 point2 points ago

I'll take a look then, and you are right, it just felt like such a tease

[–]LetoTheTyrant 0 points1 point ago

As long as you post the link in response to someone asking it shouldn't be a big deal.

[–]Woolio 1 point2 points ago

Oh, you're the person that does the Mass Effect blends! I saw these featured on /r/gaming a while ago. Haven't tried them, though.

[–]Jadis4742Madly in love with Adagio[S] 1 point2 points ago

That's me! Were they on r/gaming? I posted them to r/masseffect...

Anyway, yeah, that's me, and I'm thinking about making up sampler packs a la Cara to sell at NYCC! I don't think I'll have many takers, but I love the idea of sampler packs based on the crew members in each game! (i.e., ME1 pack has Garrus, Tali, Kaidan, Ashley, etc.)

[–]kuhlonel 1 point2 points ago

I feel that way too, except it's always me who buys them...

[–]Wynner3 0 points1 point ago

Of course, the one tea I'm interested in is out of stock. Anderson.

[–]Jadis4742Madly in love with Adagio[S] 1 point2 points ago

It's showing as in stock for me?

http://www.adagio.com/signature_blend/blend.html?blend=22851&SID=38865279f582fba35f03fa68e4d6edf2

And I love that blend - it was the second one I finalized! It just took me forever to make the label.

[–]Wynner3 0 points1 point ago

That's very strange. I told them to inform me when it's in stock again.

[–]Wynner3 0 points1 point ago

I guess adagio doesn't want me to have it, only shows in stock when I'm signed out.

[–]mmj_gregory 0 points1 point ago

It's in stock for me too...odd.

[–]alfisback1 1 point2 points ago

Which would be your favorite blend? I'm tempted to pick up some Grunt soon.

[–]Jadis4742Madly in love with Adagio[S] 2 points3 points ago

Oh lord. That's such a tough question! If you bought Grunt though, you would be the first...well, the second, after me. It's a nice tart blend, but no actual tea. A request from a friend of mine - he's mildly allergic to tea, poor thing. I didn't even think that was possible!

But after that...well, I'm going to run out of Kasumi first. Wasn't expecting that at all! She's not my favorite character or anything, but her blend is Earl Gray Moonlight, cream, and rooibos jasmine, and I just can't stop drinking it! It's my favorite tea for first thing in the morning. The cream in the blend and the cream in the Earl Gray Moonlight tone down the bergamot, and there's just enough jasmine to get a whiff of it underneath the Earl Gray and the sweetness of the cream. It's a very relaxing a soothing tea for me. I told a friend the difference between it and the Miranda tea (my other morning favorite, Earl Gray Bravo, ginger, cream) was like the difference between being gently woken up by the sun or being startled awake by the alarm clock. (They ended up choosing a cup of Miranda, but I still think the analogy is good.)

After that, it's a tie between Garrus (chocolate, oriental spice, hazelnut) and Anderson (hazelnut, vanilla, cream). Both good, strong, flavored black teas. Usually my late morning/lunch drinks.

By early afternoon I usually want a change of pace from black teas, so I'll either try a new blend, or have one of the greens - Chakwas (citrus green, pina colada) or Thane (vanilla green, Earl Gray green).

I really, really love my Vega tea - a base of pur eh dante and lapsang souchong, with apricot to brighten it up and help cover the smell (I know, I know, I'm horrible, I love the flavor but the smell is...difficult) but lapsang souchong is out of stock right now. :(

And now I have to go back to the hospital - I'll try and visit the site on my phone if you have any more questions!

Man, now I want to go out, buy mass effect and spend all weekend playing and drinking tea. Some of your blends look great! If you were to recommend one or two for someone who is new to blending teas what would you go for?

[–]Jadis4742Madly in love with Adagio[S] 2 points3 points ago

jedi hand wave You will buy Mass Effect...

What's interesting is that when I look at my blends, I kind of see my own education in tea. My first blend was Shepard, and it's a basic black (assam) with a strong tart herbal (blood orange) and some green tea with a really cool name (gunpowder). It's a great tea for a beginner, but now that I've learned to love more teas I feel like it lacks a little body.

I also firmly encourage everyone to make their own Shepard blend, since everyone's Shep is different! I can send you a link to the label image (without my name) if you like. I can also make you a MaleShep label.

The next best teas for a beginner are Garrus and Tali. Garrus, with sweetener and milk, kind of tastes like a popular Starbucks drink I can't spell and can't shorten because it's vulgar. Tali is a light blend of Earl Gray Lavender and strawberry.

Kasumi is the cream tea, Miranda is the spiciest. Chakwas is good for if you're just getting into greens - it's got a nice citrus flavor and doesn't really care if the water is too hot. Joker was based on the idea of chocolate-covered-cherries, and Anderson is the most coffee-like. Grunt and Samara are herbal tisanes.

But yeah...Garrus and Tali. Just like my crew in ME1.

Allow me to sit here and pout in jealousy.

*pouts*
*sips tea*
*pouts some more*

I'm fairly certain I'm the only person who's ever bought my blends, heh.

Additionally, I'm totally jealous of the creativity of your blends.

[–]Apyollyon90 1 point2 points ago

Having looked at a few of your tea blends, really wish there was a sampler pack of all of 'em. They sound quite tasty
