A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Spoiler code

Please mark spoilers like this:

Hover over to read.

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

I once saw a short movie which showed a fast-forward of a day on the central square in Mexico City. You could see people moving over the course of the day to stand in the shadow of the flagpole.

[–]hirashirou 66 points67 points ago

Glow cats.

[–]corinmcblide 10 points11 points ago

[–]naut1g 3 points4 points ago

Oh wow so that's a real thing. This rabbit was discussed in an episode of Sherlock.

Is the last sound they hear before getting hit.

[–]rugbysquid 9 points10 points ago

[–]TheNoblePlacerias 9 points10 points ago

I don't blame them, Tiananmen Square can get really hot. The strange part of that picture is that someone is flying a kite without being accosted by law enforcement. I have never seen a faster police response than when we pulled out our kites.

[–]Chowdder 2 points3 points ago

Maybe time have changed, I took this picture back in 2004

[–]Kittykathax 1 point2 points ago

Care to elaborate on the kite comment?

[–]montagv3 24 points25 points ago

[–]ReeseJ7 740 points741 points ago

[–]TheTalkingCamelAnus 27 points28 points ago

I was wondering what this was...

[–]eVaan13 38 points39 points ago

Probably a small penis.

[–]cfr33zy 3 points4 points ago

I can confirm he is confirming something

[–]meowmeister 0 points1 point ago

I will confirm that there is a beginning and an end for you because you are special.

[–]JackassPenguinass 0 points1 point ago

As a Penguin, I can deny that my cousin the pigeon is not some non-flying rodent!

[–]MozzarellaSquirrel 11 points12 points ago

sorry i keep forgetting. dam my horse brains...

[–]circle_ 20 points21 points ago

I don't think your horse brain dam is working. There are brains leaking out everywhere.

[–]diewhitegirls 25 points26 points ago

You are not a pigeon. Pigeons do not have access to the Internet.

[–]chippie-o 71 points72 points ago

You wouldn't download a pigeon.

[–]Insanatey 62 points63 points ago

I WOULD IF I COULD

[–]Crim91 28 points29 points ago

I wouldn't. They're foul creatures.

[–]Insanatey 66 points67 points ago

Fowl creatures

[–]CondescendingFucker 32 points33 points ago

THIS ENDS HERE.

[–]johnsmcjohn[!] 42 points43 points ago

I think it'll fly a little further.

[–]DrBearPHD 9 points10 points ago

THE HELL I WOULDN'T!

[–]AndrewChamp 10 points11 points ago

[–]wolfchimneyrock 10 points11 points ago

in brooklyn they're introducing parakeets into the wild to displace the pigeons ... and I can assure you, as a parakeet we definitely have internet access. and I do want a cracker.

[–]Yoyo8 6 points7 points ago

What the flock?

[–]p222 12 points13 points ago

they're just used to sitting on (power)lines

[–]Rather_Dashing 3 points4 points ago

Don't knock pigeons. They are better at solving the Monty hall problem then students

[–]SQUID_FUCKER 4 points5 points ago

[–]rugbysquid 3 points4 points ago

[–]Cherrytop 2 points3 points ago

[–]andyspank 32 points33 points ago

Fellow former El Pasoan here. THat is in deed El Paso (Franklins in background).

[–]NicestPersonAlive 10 points11 points ago

Looks like the Franklin mountains to me, Im not sure if thats the cielo vista or Tinseltown movie theater.

Edit : Plugging r/elpaso

[–]Carlosjro 2 points3 points ago

That East EP. I think you'd be able to see Hooters if it was Cielo Vista. Edit: now I recognize that brown building on the left. Cielo Vista.

[–]dafanman88 9 points10 points ago

Came here to ask the same thing. Judging by the scenery, that definitely looks like the eastside tinseltown.

[–]thesnobbycellist 7 points8 points ago

We're finally being recognized for something besides obesity!

[–]PorkSoda02 9 points10 points ago

Yeah haha! That's what I thought. Definitely El Paso.

[–]fakeguy 8 points9 points ago

Yup. Noticed it right away. Also, I'm surprised how many of us there is on here.

[–]HectorMagnificente 6 points7 points ago

El Paso on the front page for the win!

[–]hibeardy 4 points5 points ago

I couldn't be sure at first but the mountains convinced me.

[–]GreatRegularFlavor 2 points3 points ago

Glad to see good ol' 915 on the front page. For once I didn't have to swing over to r/elpas

[–]tahcoboy 0 points1 point ago

I tried going today to tinseltown, but hey were turning us away because of the lightning! Lots of chuco town redditors from the looks of it!

[–]danceswithwool 1 point2 points ago

No this is the Hollywood level on Tony Hawk Underground

[–]ScrubbleShuckleX 48 points49 points ago

It may be time to start migrating..

[–]spiral_of_agnew 106 points107 points ago

Are you kidding? Birds only do virtual migration anymore. They literally hover in large air ducts for hours, doing the equivalent of DDR moves. And as you see in the pic, they only sit on virtual telephone wires since everything's wireless now. Your stereotype about birds migrating is essentially racist.

[–]they_call_me_dewey 35 points36 points ago

So you're saying OP is basically Hitler?

[–]vijrox 56 points57 points ago

Of course not. OP is literally Hitler.

[–]DownvoteAttractor 4 points5 points ago

Hitlerally.

[–]MediocreJerk 15 points16 points ago

Never really was a big fan of Hitler.

[–]brandonlieng 18 points19 points ago

Hitler did nothing wrong.

[–]MediocreJerk 5 points6 points ago

Shoddy economics.

[–]paczki_kid 2 points3 points ago

Love that soda.

[–]ChimpanAToChimpanzee 21 points22 points ago

[–]The_Herrenvolk 5 points6 points ago

Mother of god. They said that would never be relevant.

[–]mcpabsty 14 points15 points ago

the birds are like a reverse mirror image starting with the pole on the right representing the bird on the far left on the sidewalk , and the birds are spaced representative of the spacing of the blockades in the road. http://imgur.com/pdifl

[–]switchedyourletters 45 points46 points ago

When birds risk their lives by standing on the open road just to cool off then you know it's hot

[–]cuddlep00p 86 points87 points ago

Nah, they'll do that anyways.

[–]cat_tastrophe 31 points32 points ago

[–]reddasi 7 points8 points ago

The Bus looked scared

[–]ridger5 13 points14 points ago

They're just getting a head start on flying as close as possible to your car as you drive by.

[–]llamaha 3 points4 points ago

Just an observation but I don't think that birds are able to associate the street with danger from automobiles.

[–]flybyz3 26 points27 points ago

I like the fact that they respect personal space even thou there is little space to share.

[–]uradholl 24 points25 points ago

TIL Pigeons are Swedes.

[–]flybyz3 6 points7 points ago

?

[–]uradholl 39 points40 points ago

[–]FixedThat 4 points5 points ago

TIL Swedes are pigeons.

[–]flybyz3 8 points9 points ago

Found it! Thanks bud!!!

[–]uliveonebiglie 5 points6 points ago

Bird-brain my ass...

[–]dalgeek 8 points9 points ago

I heard a similar story from a coworker, but involving cold weather. Some years ago there was an ice storm in the Midwest (probably OK). After the storm was over, they were walking through a field where there was a tree in the middle of the field and a bunch of birds lined up downwind from the tree, all frozen. Wish they had taken pictures of it!

[–]drunk_semen_thrower 4 points5 points ago

El Paso, Texas. Representing.

[–]emreveles 5 points6 points ago

El Paso?

[–]jdcowboys04 10 points11 points ago

That glorious moment when you know exactly where something on the front page came from. El Paso,TX

[–]CaRLoS08 6 points7 points ago

Is this El Paso's Tinseltown?

[–]Alberttheman999 8 points9 points ago

El Paso Texas, Tinsel Town?

[–]alle0441 2 points3 points ago

Thanks, Arthur.

[–]zulutbs182 1 point2 points ago

[–]Isatis_tinctoria 5 points6 points ago

[–]stareonsoul 5 points6 points ago

I'm thinking El Paso

[–]Devizzle95 4 points5 points ago

its El Paso, Texas

[–]redkulat 4 points5 points ago

These sky-rats are smarter than I thought.

[–]TheBaconWizard 1 point2 points ago

I guess you could say he has...

puts on sunglasses

...all his ducks in a row.

[–]MandatoryMahi 1 point2 points ago

This is either photoshopped, or taken with a not-so-great camera.

[–]rem7 2 points3 points ago

a timelapse sequence of the shadow moving and the pigeons following it woulda been awesome.

[–]kleptomaniiac 2 points3 points ago

Is this in el paso, TX?

[–]IXIELCHINGONIXI 2 points3 points ago

EL PASO TEXAS

[–]jobertastic12 2 points3 points ago

[–]chyron1988 2 points3 points ago

[–]Rebuheldir 2 points3 points ago

[–]MrWolf121 2 points3 points ago

[–]Stoned_on_the_Run 2 points3 points ago

Looks like Tinseltown in El Paso.

[–]bigal75 2 points3 points ago

I am from El Paso but live in San Antonio. I thought those mountains in the background looked familiar!

[–]Lil_o_Jerms 2 points3 points ago

El Paso! Tinstle Town!

[–]payucon 4 points5 points ago

HELL PASO TX?

[–]King_of_the_Creep 1 point2 points ago

[–]Shermankohlberg 0 points1 point ago

Damn, beat me to it!

[–]39wdsss 3 points4 points ago

Fibonacci Pigeons on the loose again! Well... kinda.

[–]foolalex 3 points4 points ago

Tucson, is that you?

[–]MrJolly22 1 point2 points ago

There is a big patch of shade from that other tree and yet they all cluster in the one line. Typical dumb birds.

[–]monkeyrocket 4 points5 points ago

Maybe the tree shade is for hawks only, and the pigeons know that. Or maybe the pigeons all ate the same brownie from the trash and think they are on a power line. It's a brush if you potato about salad tongs.

[–]iamleighanne 0 points1 point ago

I love seeing clever animals :)

[–]bamfor 3 points4 points ago

Upvote because El Paso

[–]ewest 0 points1 point ago

This looks like a shot from Breaking Bad or something.

[–]brokendimension 1 point2 points ago

Them being black doesn't help the fact, I don't see how it's evolutionary.

[–]christitansfan 0 points1 point ago

They think they're sky.. lurking in the shadows about to rob that store...

[–]macstan10 -1 points0 points ago

It's hot out there for a pimp. Or shall I say...pidgeon.

[–]el___diablo 1 point2 points ago

That's a pretty narrow shadow for a tree.

[–]JMjustme 1 point2 points ago

waiting for someone to call this one fake.

[–]mikana 0 points1 point ago

Awwwww!

[–]Scorpion8754 1 point2 points ago

Pretty much everywhere

it's gonna be hot

[–]99thRedBalloon 0 points1 point ago

1000 points for hitting them all. A bit like a guaranga bonus. Guano bonus.

[–]mobastar 0 points1 point ago

I always think of this whenever I read/hear your title.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGqjS4Xz4NQ

[–]popsickletits 0 points1 point ago

I do this too when at a traffic light waiting to cross the road. Birds are smart.

[–]The-Tumbleweed 1 point2 points ago

That shadow seems far too skinny for that tree. :S

[–]_zarathustra[!] 0 points1 point ago

Birds are so fucking dumb.

[–]Livingfear -1 points0 points ago

Very hot...

[–]Cocopupo -1 points0 points ago

...where's the birds shadow?

[–]knudude 0 points1 point ago

How hot is it? ( Really, no one posted this yet? )

[–]gleek_of_peace 0 points1 point ago

How do you play high wire when you have wings? You take it to the ground.

[–]mybossthinksimworkng 0 points1 point ago

birds on a (shadow) wire

[–]sheldonjp 0 points1 point ago

And I don't need a jacket!

[–]thefigpucker 0 points1 point ago

Now that's funny....

[–]Locoriot 0 points1 point ago

Just wow. they are smarter than i thought.

[–]Babafooey -1 points0 points ago

Palm Desert, California is my guess!

[–]squiggles22271 -1 points0 points ago

I gave this post its 2000th point, do i get a prize?

[–]Uono 1 point2 points ago

This reminds me of outlying areas in Vegas. Is this outside of Vegas somewhere? I can't tell what that store is. The way the curbs are painted, the pocket suburban subdivision in the back with the mountainous background. Man I miss Vegas. Is this vegas!?

[–]Venomousx 0 points1 point ago

That's so cute, love seeing critters doing silly things like this :) Just hope they get out of the way when someone comes by!

[–]SexierInGlasses 0 points1 point ago

How hot is it?

[–]herpberp 0 points1 point ago

Like a bird, on a wire...

[–]happenings 0 points1 point ago

beautiful photo

[–]deadfermata 0 points1 point ago

How about that whole dark area near the building pillars

[–]sinndogg 0 points1 point ago

This is just reinforcing my idea of pigeons as opportunists.

Incredibly adorable opportunists, but still.

[–]SymphonicStorm 0 points1 point ago

I didn't understand what was out of the ordinary, at first.

Then I realized that those weren't the shadows of birds on a wire.

[–]cats_are_people_too 0 points1 point ago

outSIDE America, outSIDE.

[–]TehNinjaMonkey 0 points1 point ago

If i didnt know any better, i'd say that looks like Wisconsin (the rolling hills in the background). Could be wrong tho.

[–]yesterday_tomorrow 0 points1 point ago

They think they're standing on a wire

[–]monkeyrocket 1 point2 points ago

Stupid pigions can't handle their shrooms. Purple.

[–]thepinche 0 points1 point ago

Always nice to see El Pasoans here. And yes, it's pretty hot here.

[–]tacobellassasin 0 points1 point ago

im upvoting because its original, not photoshopped, and no fake story behind it

[–]Kantstop01 1 point2 points ago

El Paso??

[–]MarkusXC94 0 points1 point ago

I know this is unrelated but damn, look at those mountains.

[–]Allaphon -1 points0 points ago

Mr Dean, a former police officer and mayor, said the ban would prevent young people "from buying a product that they can't already buy" but would not affect adult smokers.

Correct if if I'm wrong, but isn't there some kind of natural process on this planet that turns young people into adults at some point? just what kind of an IQ exactly does one need to become a police chief and mayor in Tasmania

[–]AtheistKharm 0 points1 point ago

Man I saw this a couple of weeks ago in Texas while driving on a high way. I was going by too fast to take a picture, and I was thinking of all that karma I could of had.

[–]HumanMillipede -1 points0 points ago

"If we stay here, they can't see us!"

[–]justinecruz 0 points1 point ago

That's odd. Birds avoiding sunlight, weird yet interesting.

[–]jackovasaurusrex -1 points0 points ago

Well black/dark gray does absorb heat, so I guess the pigeons aren't full stupid, only half. Maybe the other tree wasn't long enough for them to all sit in a straight line like some pimps?

[–]bigburd 0 points1 point ago

Silly birds; that's not an electrical line!

[–]Grannymimi 1 point2 points ago

Hell Paso!

[–]tcrew92 0 points1 point ago

yay for Cinemark!

[–]aviatortrevor 1 point2 points ago

Is this near Palm Springs, CA?

[–]ZanetheMan 0 points1 point ago

In Tooopeeekkaaa

[–]Bike1894 0 points1 point ago

Is this is Thorton, Colorado?

[–]YouLikeFishStix 0 points1 point ago

Do your boots melt?

[–]rossrosenbaum 0 points1 point ago

I wonder if they are a British pop sensation? ...in the bird world..

[–]HerderOfNerfs 0 points1 point ago

I never thought birds actually gave a shit. You never hear them squawking about it.

[–]BearsBeetsBattlestar 0 points1 point ago

I was in Greece in late June about ten years back, and walking around Athens I was horrified because I thought there were dead dogs lying everywhere. Turned out they were strays and they were alive, but they were overheated and lying in whatever narrow shade they could find: trees, light poles, fire hydrants. Throughout the day, as the shade moved, they'd move. It was like some kind of vast canine sundial.

[–]jonsmallberries 0 points1 point ago

Wow. This has to be someone's behavioral zoology phd somewhere. Life... what can't it do?

[–]vagacom 0 points1 point ago

jb: "man, it's hot today. it's hot to-day!" jb's friend: "yeah and you know it's hot out." jb: "i just said that." jb's friend: "yeah, but it's hot too."

[–]jazake 1 point2 points ago

El Paso ya! Lol you know those birds live in El Paso!
