Sadly, there's no biblical precedent for this . . .

[–]dplummer[S] 0 points1 point ago

Luckily the way forward does not depend on biblical precedents.

[–]shorthop1019 0 points1 point ago

Well no, but the bible does say that people who do good in the name of other gods, do it with my blessing, but those who do bad by my name do it without my blessing. (that is a paraphrase)

Has that stopped them before?

That which does not exist does not have preferences.

[–]dplummer[S] 1 point2 points ago

While god does not exist, there are many people who believe he does, and base many of their moral precepts on the supposed teachings of said imaginary figure. Since the people who preach those teachings do exist, it's good to see some cases where they don't want to burn nonbelievers.

[–]Tr2v 1 point2 points ago

I like the ones who want to burn everyone. Those are the groups that die off faster as fewer and fewer people fit in. The groups that adapt last longer. It's like religious evolution. Which sucks.

[–]dplummer[S] 1 point2 points ago

True, it is much easier to hate the haters. To label them instead of converse with them.

AS long as religious folk are adaptive and progressive with the rest I society, why harm is their personal belief?

[–]Tr2v 0 points1 point ago

Because their adaptations are still some50 years behind the rest of society.

THIS IS POSTED EVERY SINGLE DAY.

[–]dplummer[S] 1 point2 points ago

Oh, sorry. With any luck it won't get far then. I'll do a better job searching the next time I post.

who cares? it's an unmoderated disorganized internet forum where people starve for upwards-pointing arrows. I LOVE MY CAPS LOCK.

[–]Loki5654 -2 points-1 points ago

First prove he exists, then tell me what he prefers.

It's intellectually dishonest to jump ahead like that.

[–]dplummer[S] 1 point2 points ago

It's at least a tasteful comment on something I think everyone should agree on. A conversation in which atheists are not labeled as baby-eaters by the religious is a good start.

[–]CalCapone -3 points-2 points ago

That's fake.

[–]slackerdc 0 points1 point ago

It's probably real it's in the People's Republic of Portland (Going there Friday yay!)

[–]dplummer[S] 1 point2 points ago

I'm honestly not sure if its fake, but even if it is fake, it has a story. My aunt posted this on facebook, then said she was leaving her church. Although she is very christian (or catholic, something like that), she'd rather be associated with kind atheists than the hateful christians of the church she was at.
