No. What you need is the Amulet of Mara, which you can either complete a series of side quests for or purchase. There is a temple of Mara in Riften. After you complete a side quest from the person you want to marry and you are wearing the amulet, you have the option to marry that character.

That won't work because when you send your wife/husband home they wear their default armor. Unless you tell them to wait in your house, but I believe they will only stand there for a while then go back home.

They also set up a general shop, so you can go to them to buy some supplies and sell them off. You make a little bit of gold to go with it.

Go to Riften and talk to Maramal, ask him about it, buy the amulet. Wear it and talk to people you like.

He is only a common archery instructor. Once I hit level 40 or so in archery, I butcher him and take back the last (and biggest) sum of money I paid for his lessons. The prick.

Yes. You can also get them both to give the letters to you if you tell one about the other's letter, they will go "Well, please give her this fake one supposedly from him instead".

Faendal is a perfect sacrifice for Boethiah. Also I married Ysolda, and the Dark Brotherhood told me to kill her.....Or was it the Thieves Guild with a proper thrashing, I forgot, it's been a while.

I also disliked Faendal until I picked him up as a follower. He's pleasant, not too chatty, good with a bow... And I really liked the "free" archery training. I dropped him later for Kharjo, but fought by his side one more in Riverwood when a dragon attacked. I was actually kind of sad to find him dead after that fight. I dragged his body back to his house, laid him across the logs, and attempted a funeral pyre that ended up being more like barbecued elf. Poor Faendal.

I didn't marry Camilla, though. Maybe I would have felt differently if I had.
