Wow. This would actually make a lot of sense.

[–]Lochen 9 points10 points ago

You haven't seen this on facebook before? By that I mean, atheists posting fake bible quotes to trick people. Surely you've seen this posted here before: http://karmadecay.com/2.bp.blogspot.com/-qnvu1GLiYr8/TeysCs-1VZI/AAAAAAAAFEI/Eml3Swce5Vc/s1600/tumblr_lm8j6jgX9I1qb5gkjo1_400.png

[–]BdrLen 14 points15 points ago

did you see the one with an AK-47 and a holy book saying too bad neither are taught in schools? the twist of course being that the book was a Koran.

[–]TheHerbalGerbil 1 point2 points ago

Any self respecting conservative should have at least thought to look closer at the book, considering you’re telling me the rifle was an AK-47 rather than an AR-15.

[–]mental405 1 point2 points ago

[–]NiteShadeX2 1 point2 points ago

Now it looks like it promotes suicide.

Also, I agree with the original, but not in the way they intent it do. The Bible should be taught in schools, but as a historic book of fiction. Teach it in literature alongside the Greek tragedies or other similar works of fiction. The Bible has no place in a science class, nor does "teach the Bible in school" mean "every class is prayer time."

As for the gun. While gun safety in school is perhaps a bit excessive, they could at least make mention of it in some kind of health or adult living class. I'd rather see more gun safety and general firearms education than a "GUNS IS BAD" approach to things. At the end of the day gun laws really only effect law biding citizens, as criminals will procure firearms illegally either way.

[–]mental405 1 point2 points ago

Dammit.

[–]BdrLen 0 points1 point ago

It was similar. What caught my attention is that the green leather book was backwards (Arabic).

[–]Lochen 1 point2 points ago

Don't think I've seen that one no. Why? I have seen plenty of the original posted though.

[–]zoltek 2 points3 points ago

If this could be proven, then it would be the conspiracy of our times. Of course, it could have already been proven, and I don't know of it.

[–]cebedec 2 points3 points ago

303 is the fictional unit in "Wag the dog".

[–]zoltek 0 points1 point ago

Conspiracy!

[–]cebedec 0 points1 point ago

It's most certainly NOT about the B-3 bomber!

[–]zoltek 0 points1 point ago

At this point, who knows?

[–]VoriidNightbane 39 points40 points ago

What is the 3:03 rumor?

[–]RegularKneeThePirate 45 points46 points ago

People on twitter are tweeting "RIP Neil Armstrong. He died at 3:03 PM. In the Bible, Genesis 3:03 reads, "God then created the moon to oppose the sun." #Believer" when Genesis 3:03 has nothing to do with the moon

"Inasmuch as you saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what will take place [a]in the future; so the dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy.”

Daniel 2:45.

"Hail to the king, baby." - Neil Armstrong

[–]BreadstickNinja 6 points7 points ago

You idiot, that's Buzz Aldrin. He starred in that movie about toys.

[–]joeyGibson 1 point2 points ago

You're both wrong. That's Michael Collins, who was an Irish revolutionary astronaut who had to stay in the command module while those other fuckers got to walk on the moon.

[–]BreadstickNinja 2 points3 points ago

What rubbish. He's the drummer for Genesis. Don't you know anything?

[–]NiteShadeX2 2 points3 points ago

Didnt he die of complications with a surgery? Doesnt sound like a very divine death.

[–]draconic86 7 points8 points ago

That kind of accuracy has Christianity written all over it.

"as the smoke of the bush riseth up, inhale, for that is the glory, the love, and the spirit of the Lord" -Joseph 4:20

Yeah, but that was only mostly dead.

Now see that makes me wonder a bit, that quote is one of the more well known ones, you'd think someone would have said something by now.

[–]exnor 11 points12 points ago

Right, like we needed more evidence.

[–]NiteShadeX2 5 points6 points ago

You dont need evidence, you just need to believe...

[–]Skwerl23[S] 0 points1 point ago

I'm pretty sure he meant "like we need more evidence that theists barely read the bible"

[–]Skwerl23[S] 4 points5 points ago

Nice :)

[–]froop 16 points17 points ago

I'm pretty convinced that every incorrect, meme-ified reference to a bible verse is indeed what OP suggests, and someone, somewhere is an epic, epic troll.

[–]TruePimp 5 points6 points ago

[–]ProtoDong 10 points11 points ago

[–]Bdaulerio7 1 point2 points ago

Ok, off topic, how do you make that face. I am a technological moron who uses my phone for all things Reddit.

[–]ProtoDong 0 points1 point ago

(&)#3232;_(&)#3232;

Remove parentheses.

[–]Skwerl23[S] 0 points1 point ago

If you use iPhone the app blue alien has it built into the reply menu.

[–]sweetcrosstatbro 1 point2 points ago

If so another point for atheists

[–]CosmicBard 2 points3 points ago

I say we start saying we did.

[–]josh024 7 points8 points ago

r/atheism has never been duped into believing false quotes.

[–]Lowbacca1977 11 points12 points ago

Traditionally, they're not quotes from a source we're basing our lives and our understanding of the universe on.

[–]BreadstickNinja 1 point2 points ago

“When fascism comes to America, it will come wrapped in the flag and waving a cross."

-Never said by Sinclair Lewis

"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful."

-Never said by Seneca the Younger

Well, there are my pet peeves out of the way.

[–]lillyvonschtupp 0 points1 point ago

"The problem with quotes on the internet is that it is very difficult to find the correct source"

George Washington

[–]Spongemage 2 points3 points ago

How few theists*

I'm so sorry. I'm not trying be mean. I just...I had to.

I love you Skwerl23. : )

[–]GJCaesar1138 2 points3 points ago

Nah, it's how little. Or at least the way I read it. Little is being used as an adverb modifying "read", not an adjective modifying "theists."

[–]Spongemage 0 points1 point ago

OH well. I still love all you guys either way! : D

[–]GJCaesar1138 1 point2 points ago

Aw, I love you too, Spongemage.

[–]Skwerl23[S] 0 points1 point ago

You are correct

[–]chrispine 1 point2 points ago

Thank you. This was bothering me, too. Or rather, distracting me with images of all of these 4-foot-7 theists reading their bible "incorrectly" somehow... :-D

[–]WiseWordsFromBrett 1 point2 points ago

You know, When i first saw it, i thought about an html 404 error. So after you said this, a chill went down my back as i realized that it is a 303 error, biblical reference does not exist. Fraud OP will deliver...

[–]N0v1K 0 points1 point ago

yep!

[–]N3k0Shogun -1 points0 points ago

Honestly the entire thing is stupid. It isn't hard to clear up fake verses, all you have to do is pick up a Bible and check the reference. I really do wish people weren't so lazy, they make the rest of us look bad.

[–]dbbo -1 points0 points ago

I don't get it. Why would we want to prove that diminutive believers read the bible?

[–]Frozenfishy 0 points1 point ago

This is actually one of my personal tin-hat conspiracy theories about the Westboro Baptist Church, that they're actually super-dedicated trolls, determined to besmirch (further) the reputation of Christianity. Because that's bloody brilliant.

[–]Numendil 0 points1 point ago

aren't they trolls in the sense that they try to provoke as much as possible, until someone physically assaults them, after which they sue the living hell out of said person? Apparently that's why a lot of the members are lawyers.

Don't remember where I heard this though

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

While that would be one of the most awesome things ever, Nate Phelps would disagree with you.

...

Then again, whose to say he's not a double agent? Planted on our side to watch for indications that we might be on to him!

[–]Frozenfishy 1 point2 points ago

Deeper down the rabbit hole...

[–]blortorbis -1 points0 points ago

That's genius. That is actually the only logical explaination for how bat-shit nutty they... God. Damn. Genius.

[–]Bejoty 0 points1 point ago

Why would atheists want to prove that small Christians read the Bible?

[–]DamnIWishICouldRead 0 points1 point ago

I've actually seen more posts on social networks regarding Neil Armstrong being Muslim; how he heard the Adzan when he walked on the moon.

[–]Rainbow_Farter 1 point2 points ago

whats the 3:03 rumor?

[–]5870guy111 0 points1 point ago

here, this is a repost, someone just posted it recently but it seems like none of you have seen it, http://i.imgur.com/fSOG0.jpg

[–]SmilingAlbino 0 points1 point ago

Not only did he die at 2:45, in Genesis 45:2, it says "And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard him, and Pharaoh's household heard about it."

[–]stringless 1 point2 points ago

For the record, all 2:45s in the Bible. KJV first followed by NET.

1 Kings 2:45

And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the LORD for ever.

But King Solomon will be empowered and David’s dynasty will endure permanently before the Lord.”

1 Chronicles 2:45

And the son of Shammai was Maon: and Maon was the father of Bethzur.

Shammai’s son was Maon, who was the father of Beth-Zur.

Ezra 2:45

The children of Lebanah, the children of Hagabah, the children of Akkub,

the descendants of Lebanah, the descendants of Hagabah, the descendants of Akkub,

Daniel 2:45

Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

You saw that a stone was cut from a mountain, but not by human hands; it smashed the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold into pieces. The great God has made known to the king what will occur in the future. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is reliable.”

Luke 2:45

And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.

When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him.

Acts 2:44-45

And all that believed were together, and had all things common; / And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

All who believed were together and held everything in common, / and they began selling their property and possessions and distributing the proceeds to everyone, as anyone had need.

[–]weaver2109 1 point2 points ago

I'm a little theist, short and stout.

[–]FidgeAnit 0 points1 point ago

Woah

[–]corwin1681 -1 points0 points ago

haha, I thought that, but was too lazy to make a meme out of it :D

upvote for you sir

[–]KrimsonTide -3 points-2 points ago

I dont read the bible it's a waste of time. If God actually wrote the bible, it wouldn't include killing gays because of their preferences, or stoning to death or anything. It was written by men who believed in God, but took it to an extreme and added in a bunch of bullshit rules that we have to follow today and are making us look like real assholes. The Bible is not a good way for a Christian to demonstrate their beliefs.

[–]CommentOnEverythin -4 points-3 points ago

"a" theist. its spelled, Atheist.

[–]BuzzKillingtonThe4th 3 points4 points ago

No it's not. People attribute it as such, but it isn't a religion so it really shouldn't be capitalized.
