Considering the context of this thread, I'm talking about the reversed lens cap, because that's what you use to avoid those lens flares. Reversed it doesn't do anything and there is no real reason not to use it. Sorry I sound condescending :P But really, get a lens cap and use that shit. It also looks ten times cooler...

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I don't have a DSLR with interchangeable lenses, I just have really high res... Non DSLR I guess... I don't know the term. But it can't take any lens accessories

If you get undesired lens flares, just try cupping your hand around the lens, I guess. You basically want to shield it from any light that comes from outside the frame. Depending on the circumstances this can greatly increase your contrast, too. It's like when you look into the sun and it drowns out your entire view, so you block it with your hand and instantly see a lot more detail.

Thanks for the tip. And I think that's called "high dynamic range". When you block the sun, there's less of a range in colors so the colors that are there look better. Just remembered that from a corridor digital video

No, it's much bigger. I would tell you the model name but I'm not home. It's got 40x zoom (not digital, but physical). It also shoots 1080p video, photo stitches, and a bunch of other fancy things

It has to do with how the ice crystals line up during the freezing process. It makes the light refract in a certain way that only produces the blue spectrum.
