Fat, awkward girl who dreams of being a ballerina works for months toward her goal of performing and bites the dust during the big recital. She lies on the stage crying at what could either be real injury or mock pain to hide her crushing humiliation for a duration that just passes as noticeably too long. The gravity of the disaster seeps into the backstage crew, forcing the director to close curtains. It's hauntingly beautiful.
