Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

He wants change!

[–]SomewhatStupid 18 points19 points ago

Regardless of political opinion, this man has picked a smart tactic for begging in the mainly liberal California. He almost seems too smart to be homeless.. But what do I know. Times are tough.

[–]wudzawoo 13 points14 points ago

It's a trick, he's probably a convicted felon with no voting privileges

[–]U731lvr 1 point2 points ago

It's SF, passerby's likely didn't think that deeply into it before the urgency of the situation caused them crashed their Prius in to a coop artisanal Flan bakery whereafter the 12:05PM gay-pride parade came by and pulled them from the wreckage while "It's Raining Men" blared in the background.

[–]stevelud 2 points3 points ago

As someone who actually lives in SF, I'd like to point out the absurdity of your comment, but it's pretty much on the money.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points ago

Be much easier to vote for Obama. That way he'll get my money anyway.

[–]DanielMallory 2 points3 points ago

Dude give the man money FOR GOD SAKES

[–]doktorordo 6 points7 points ago

The other side of the sign says "Give me cash or I vote for Obama"

[–]Otterfan 3 points4 points ago

Prediction: this image will be picked up by the right-wing blogosphere as a "typical Obama voter".

muammar gaddafi?

[–]dead_ed 2 points3 points ago

Don't give the SF bums money. They're professionals. People that a really needy have lots of city services for assistance (and this already comes out of my pocket).

He tried "Give me cash or I'll vote for Obama" but quickly realized which demographic was more willing to give to charity.

[–]jimdalyxoxo 1 point2 points ago

GAAAH. I'll never know if he has good punctuation skills or not! His thumb is covering the potential apostrophe in "I'll"

[–]Qbert_Spuckler 2 points3 points ago

I propose the following hypothesis:

| "give me cash or I vote for Obama"

Republicans are more likely to have money, but less likely to give it to him.

| "give me cash or I vote for Romney"

Democrats are less likely to have money, but more likely to give it to him.

Not a political statement, just a thought.

[–]MysterManager 3 points4 points ago

A hole in your thought, Republicans actually tend to be more charitable. I think liberals are just better at giving away other people's money.

[–]Ontain -2 points-1 points ago

psst. it's mostly to their religion though, not real charities.

[–]MysterManager 2 points3 points ago

I am agnostic and don't go to church, but I do live in the south and churches do a lot for the poor, especially around the winter months and holidays.

[–]Ontain -1 points0 points ago

churches also use funds to run anti-gay, pro-life, and anti-contraception campaigns. unlike non-profit charities we have no idea what percent of the donation goes to helping people.

[–]MysterManager 0 points1 point ago

Show me some evidence of churches running anti gay things, what is wrong with being pro life? Even as an Agnostic I don't agree with people accepting this idea that sex has no consequences because we have the technology to terminate life early after conception. The better idea is don't go fucking without legitimate protection. I only know of the Catholics who actually preach against contraception and the majority of Southerners aren't Catholic, can you provide some evidence of this massive campaign to stop contraception use in the south? Once again, I live in the south and other than buying overly nice buildings for worship, the majority of work done by churches is to benefit the unfortunate. It is also voluntary unlike when the IRS strips us of wealth to give to non profits that pay board members hundreds of thousands of dollars to figure out how to spend our money take by force.

[–]Ontain 0 points1 point ago

the one i recall off hand is how the Mormon church spend money to fight the gay marriage prop in California. There's also mega churches that seem to be mostly about generating lots of money. http://articles.cnn.com/2010-01-21/world/religion.mega.church.christian_1_mega-churches-worshippers-joel-osteen?_s=PM:WORLD

how do i know how much of these donations are used for helping others? how can i compare to non-profits? Mega churches take in several billion a year. even 1% would do a lot of good but that % would be a pretty bad charity. at least with non-profits we can see those and there are even sites that rate them.

[–]Qbert_Spuckler 0 points1 point ago

define "real"...what do you mean by "real"?

[–]Ontain 0 points1 point ago

by real i mean ones that file financials so that anyone can check to see what % of donations go toward helping people.

[–]thelerk -2 points-1 points ago

Lies lies lies

[–]MysterManager 0 points1 point ago

What an intelligent and well thought retort.

[–]sid2112 1 point2 points ago

Yeah because 4 years of Obama have helped him SO much....

[–]the_gunda 1 point2 points ago

To a small extent that explains democracy in India !

[–]statutory_cape 1 point2 points ago

I believe that's called extortion.

[–]GLG2012 1 point2 points ago

Take it! Take it all!

[–]LascielCoin 1 point2 points ago

These people are really creative, I definitely wouldn't make a good homeless person.

[–]WarPhalange 0 points1 point ago

Give cash so he votes for Obama

Get busted for buying votes.

Nice try, GOP.

[–]ArseneVengaboys 2 points3 points ago

Well, as I read the sign, you aren't paying him to vote for Obama, you're paying him to not vote for Romney.

[–]wurmze 0 points1 point ago

I wouldn't give this guy squat. His sign says give me money, not work.

[–]JohnComplains 0 points1 point ago

I would think voting for Romney would do him more harm than anyone. Well, anyone that would give him money anyway.

[–]Kfranco13 -3 points-2 points ago

You I actually someone with the same sign in Santa Monica in July

[–]Nightfalls 11 points12 points ago

Ow, my brain.

[–]Aitioma -3 points-2 points ago

Wait, I don't get it.

Wouldn't voting for a republican make his situation even worse?

[–]mentarchis -2 points-1 points ago

If that's the case, Romney wins.
