no, of course not. when it's downvoted to oblivion you are fighting for something. You've stood up against the power of the masses.

You delete your comment when it gets downvoted twice within the first minute you posted it, and then that's it.

The accounts with thousands of negative karma aren't sad. Hated, the pariahs of reddit, maybe. But the accounts with 1 link and about 10 comment karma sprinkled among hundreds of comments, those are the sad ones. That's a legacy of trying, trying so hard, and just never getting it.

That's not what I said, I was trying to tell you why people downvoted you, since swearing at people might offend them.

Their is a significant difference between "nitpicky" and "Jesus Fucking Christ that's nitpicky". Since people read in their heads different voices (at least for me), for instance when one types in all caps it's like yelling, right? Well what you said could have come off kind of snobby even though it may not be what you had intended it to be.

Oh god this train is the worst. People complain about Reddit circejerking Neil Degrasse Tyson or Carl Sagan or cat pictures, but really the worst circlejerking is when someone is wrong. God forbid people make any comments contributing to a discussion, but if one person gets something that is obviously wrong, a hundred people are there to point out the mistake in ten different ways (see what I did there).

The worst part is, unlike the kitten circlejerk that disappears once you get off Reddit, this phenomenon occurs in real life, all the fucking time. When I was in college, during in class discussion, only a few sporadic hands would raise for comments. But when one kid said something wrong, goddamn watch out everyone's hand goes up to rip him apart.
