Apparently a lot of people feed this cat three times a day... I always thought two was enough and the vet agreed. You only need to feed them twice (9am and like 6pm) and give them tons of water. My cats fat as fuck but it's not from over eating. He's even allergic to treats.

Actually it depends on the calories, fat content and starches in the food. Rule of thumb (cats weight in lb)*3 The healthiest thing to do for your is make your cat food. You know semi cook chicken + vitamins etc. They love it and you'll have a very healthy kitty.

That entirely depends on the size, age, physical activity and metabolism of the cat then how much you are actually feeding it. I have a Maine Coon and to keep him at a healthy weight he's fed 3 times a day or roughly 3/4 of a can of wet cat food.

Don't be. She's diabetic. I feed her 5 times to help keep down her sugar spikes since she absolutely won't let me inject her with insulin. It's helped significantly.

Poor kitty. Mine has a bladder problem so he can only have his specially designed food and that's it. I always feel bad I can't give him treats :(

Yes there's actually A LOT of different foods for different reasons. I'd say like 30 different ones. It's really nice that companies care so much about animals to make so many different things. My cat is my best friend I got him when I was 4 and he's still here and healthily now that I'm 19. Animals are amazing and I'm glad we have such great ones and so many options to keep them healthy :)

A lot of people free feed cats and you just cant do it that way or they get fat like this. Maybe not all cats will over eat but I think a majority will.

Ive free fed all of my cats throughout my life and I've never had a fat cat. Anecdotal evidence but just my personal experience.

Well the cat I adopted was fat in the first place I don't know what the previous owner did to it but he was around 20 lbs. We kept food out for him all the time and he never lost weight and probably gained a bit actually. We started feeding him a 1/4 cup twice a day and he has lost about 6 lbs now and is on his way to being healthier.

I adopted a second cat and free fed her in a place only she could reach and she went from normal weight to having a belly and was on her way to being chubby. I stopped that and fed her on the same schedule with around the same amount of food and she lost the pudge that she had gained.

Not all cats are the same, as I said some cats can be free fed and some cannot. The 3 cats I had prior to these over the years were free fed and never got fat. I don't see a reason to downvote me when I am just expressing an opinion, much like yourself. I thought downvotes were for "comments that add nothing to the conversation".

Mine doesn't tend to do that even with two meals. You could make it three meals with the same amount of food. Give them three meals with a smaller amount. Might trick them haha

My lovely little one rings the alarm at 5am every morning but I never understand why, she always has dry food to eat during the night but she never touches it... She just sits and meows at the door for the guest bedroom which she isn't allowed to go into. Every morning at 5am -.-, no one fed her at that time since we've got her. Crazy little bugger

Eventually they just learn. Usually when they start wanting food it is within an hour or so of heir feeding time. One cat just comes into the room I am in and stares at me but that's all now.

Its also a lot easier to put him in his carrier when taking him into the vet; he can't splay his legs, so you just gotta aim his remaining hind leg, and you're good to go. :p

I like your optimism. Apparently animals arent like humans when they lose a limb, they kinda forgot its gone and go on about it's day. My maid's dog lost a leg from a bear trap and never got sad or had trouble walking. I bet your cat doesn't even really realize which is nice because it's sad to think they're suffering.

I think all animals are cute. Fat or thin. And I dislike most people. Fat or thin..but that's just me. I think It's easier to see people as being negative people when they look bad. And we've all see the worst of the worst of some people. Whereas a cat or something just looks innocent. You don't see the bad things. However the cat does need to shed some weight. As to how, I don't know. Cats don't go for walks and you can't cut back their food too much.

There is a reason for that, animals don't think like we do. With most animals if there's food they eat it, it doesn't matter whether they ate just 10 minutes from when they got fed, the humans decide when and what they eat. A fat person have a pretty simple choice; eat and live unhealthy or eat responsively and live healthy and be happy.

1) I don't look at fat people and think "disgusting", you know people make choices and whether we agree we shouldn't immediately ridicule them. I'm assuming you do by this statement(I could be wrong but signs point to yes).

2) It is funny to me and at the same time it isn't. You know sometimes you have to take bad things and laugh at them, but that isn't even the case here. Sure it's sad the cat is that obese, he isn't properly cared for and probably didn't live an awesome life, but that is fucking funny.
