there's a tunnel under the north pier at Tynemouth (NE England). the pier is about half a mile long with little doors spaced every 200 yards or so.

naturally when we were reckless kids we would head down there when we were tripping, & shoot fireworks at each other from each end. seeing a rocket coming at you down a very narrow tunnel whilst tripping your tits off is simultaneously totally awesome & really fucking scary. especially the ones that explode into huge showers of sparks at the end.

one day we set off an airbomb (bazooka?) down there & the coastguard launched a lifeboat, because they thought it was a ship in distress.
