This is not correct. There is much greater genetic similarity between a chimps and humans than between mice and humans.

Depends on what you mean by genetic similarity. On a molecular level we've all got exactly the same nucleotides and amino acids. On a slightly more macro level we all share a very small subset of codons. The genetic sequences themselves are tremendously variable (owing to their being billions of base pairs long) and when read in full don't really represent any sort of useful metric of the degree of similarity between two organisms; especially between mammals who are going to share a huge portion of their genetic code anyway thanks to junk DNA and dormant alleles.

If you own a dog, you will see animals show guilt. I have a dog, when he fucks up, like when he eats food he shouldn't have, and you catch him doing it and you say NOTHING, he cowers away, the ears go back, and waits for the telling off. the penalty is never severe, but they fucking know they are guilty, and you can see it in their eyes and posture.

EDIT: you are right however, Tigers are Apex Predators, some animals show no emotion. It's about survival. Socially adapted animals are more likely to show signs of emotion.

I think you caught me out during the EDIT I was doing.. You are right. I also believe that lot's of animals are "emotionless" however, there are also animals which clearly show signs of emotion. TIGERS are NOT one of them... The terminology is "Sentient"... It's been argued for decades... It's only last week a paper was published that stated scientists believe some are able to show signs of emotion. A BIG step for the animals out there...

A captive chimp, I'm guessing. In wild non-human primates, showing teeth (as in a smile) is a display of hostility, but captive primates often adopt the human meaning of the gesture instead.

Guys, I'm so sorry to burst your aww bubble, but that chimp is showing his aggression towards the tiger. The way that humans smile, pulling our mostly upper lip to display our teeth, is not how chimps smile. When they look like they're smiling to us, they are displaying a fear grimace.

It's also important to note that in the entertainment industry (movies, ads, greeting cards), this fact is unbeknownst to consumers and exploited by the industry. Don't buy greeting cards with chimps on them! They have to endure some form of cruelty to make this expression in front of a camera. And, if you happen to live in my region of California, you might catch some greeting cards in your local Vons that have been expertly modified by yours truly.
