Too bad the downvote arrows are the wrong color and upside-down. Pun threads are irritating as hell when you're trying to follow a discussion.

True, but it's still frustrating to see the top comment be a pun thread and actual meaningful discussion is a few pages down. It's just indicative of the Reddit population I guess.

i could agree if the post is "i just had a heart attack and i need help" or "i think mitt romney is a prick because..." but on posts that are humorous, i think the puns are humorous and therefore should be allowed to grow

I normally enjoy puns, because when used in real life they can be quite witty if said quickly. In a thread, you just know people sit around thinking up puns to add, it just loses all humour for me.
