The lion is in trouble if the giraffe feels threatened. Lions do not often go after giraffes because giraffes are really good at killing things. Their throat and nose are way up off the ground so the lion is not going to be able to start suffocating it until it falls to the ground. The giraffe is capable of kicking the lion with enough power to break their jaw or give them some major lacerations from sharp hooves.

Basically, only an idiotic lion would attack a giraffe.

[–]HonestGiraffe 91 points92 points ago

I can confirm this. The picture was taken seconds before I brutally kicked that lion to death and peed on his remains.

[–]Retroactive_Spider 7 points8 points ago

peed on his remains

her.

[–]Bwob 18 points19 points ago

I wasn't sure I believed you at first. But then I double checked your user name, and it included the word "honest", so I realize now, you must be legit.

[–]StarvingAfricanKid 7 points8 points ago

I saw it happen. And what the hell with those vegetables when you were a kid?

[–]Bwob 2 points3 points ago

How did you find out about those oh noooooo

[–]AnArmadillo -4 points-3 points ago

but gerraffes... never mind.

[–]chrisms150 -2 points-1 points ago

Redditor for two months. Carry on.

[–]BCBudMan 8 points9 points ago

[–]bthoman2 1 point2 points ago

also that wicked head butt they hit one another with. That would break all sorts of lion bones.

[–]sirralen 0 points1 point ago

Do you suppose a giraffe is capable of headbutting a lion? One would think a giraffe's head is too far off the ground.

[–]OtoriTakeo 1 point2 points ago

Do a youtube search for "Giraffes necking". You won't be dissapointed, and you'll see what bthoman2 meant =D

[–]sirralen 0 points1 point ago

I know the video, I just don't think a giraffe could do the same thing to a lioness, which sits about 3-3.5" off the ground when standing tall.

[–]39048579012347 0 points1 point ago

Basically, only an idiotic really, really, hungry lion would attack a giraffe.

[–]Logoll 0 points1 point ago

It actually happens more often than you would think.

[–]Lilyintheshadows 1 point2 points ago

I am very happy to hear this probably ended well for the giraffe. The baby giraffe at our zoo just died and I don't think I can handle another giraffe death today. :(

[–]Danthezooman 1 point2 points ago

it's always a sad day when any animal dies at the zoo, especially if you take care of them

[–]Lilyintheshadows 1 point2 points ago

Very sad day indeed, the locals are mourning. He was a surprise gift (the zoo acquired a female giraffe in a swap and they didn't know she was pregnant) and was less than two years old. He was undergoing a dental procedure and didn't wake up from the anesthesia. :(

[–]MarvinTheAndroid42 0 points1 point ago

Can't a giraffe actually decapitate with a kick?

[–]nitefang -1 points0 points ago

I've heard that but I have no idea.

[–]valley_ 0 points1 point ago

It is a baby. So, I bet that the lion would be able to take it down much easier.

[–]paper_towels 0 points1 point ago

Yeah but if it is with the pride, it can get ugly. Also, this giraffe looks a little on the smaller side.

[–]Chapati_Monster 1 point2 points ago

Adult giraffes, yes. But that giraffe looks pretty young. The lioness could probably take it down.

[–]Dickybow 21 points22 points ago

Sudden danger for the Lion. Adult Giraffes are too difficult to bring down and a kick can decapitate a Lion.

[–]UnclaimedUsername 9 points10 points ago

I would both love and hate to see a video of that.

[–]PirateLordBush 0 points1 point ago

so would i.

[–]Ferrarisimo 10 points11 points ago

Here's a video of a pride of lions hunting and killing a giraffe. Those kicks look incredibly wicked, and many of them connect solidly. Still, the lions keep on coming:

Awe shit, you know he dead.

[–]nitefang 4 points5 points ago

The lion is yea, if it was dumb enough to attack the giraffe.

[–]kerrijay 2 points3 points ago

"Nothing to do here." -Giraffe

[–]yesukai 2 points3 points ago

What exactly does the lion plan on doing with the giraffe? It's like a dog chasing a car...

[–]Nitrostorm 0 points1 point ago

No! Giraffe you are running the wrong way!

[–]PurpleCapybara 1 point2 points ago

At the zoo this weekend, my kid asked me if a giraffe's legs are strong. I asked her if she thought the lion we just saw was invincible, then said a giraffe's kick can injure it so badly that it won't be able to hunt. Eyes opened wide.

[–]POWERGULL 0 points1 point ago

classic "fuck!" face

[–]Weft_ 1 point2 points ago

I think I read on reddit somewhere that a giraffe could decapitate a lion with a kick.

[–]hugh_person 1 point2 points ago

Sudden Danger

[–]ace9213 0 points1 point ago

That lion is about to learn not to fuck with giraffes.

[–]bobcat_08 0 points1 point ago

Giraffes' camo fur is probably the least effective evolutionary trait ever.

[–]shortbuswizard 0 points1 point ago

Someone photoshop this girl into it.

[–]AceTrainer_Alex 0 points1 point ago

[–]AuRinBei 0 points1 point ago

Jesus fuck, stop dick riding the giraffe already. You'd think people wanted a giraffe as the next president looking at this thread.

[–]NegrasGrande 0 points1 point ago

I get a similar feeling when I am speeding and see a cop.

[–]Jawks 1 point2 points ago
