Ugh... Hands 4/4 with the snare on 3, feet doing a 3/16 pattern that I can't even mimic with my hands at the proper tempo. Thomas Haake is a beast.

Played the song for a classical musician friend of mine last night and he said, "That's really impressive, I need to hear more of this."

He's also the music director for my church and although he enjoys including all kinds of music in the services (mostly to make people realize the inherent worth in different styles) he did tell me, "I don't think I can work that one in too well." Made me laugh.

No, no I don't think you can work Meshuggah into a church service very well. Although I'd be interested to see Bleed sung by a choir and accompanied by a classical pianist.

Yep, and as soon as you get one section of it down, he goes and changes it just a little bit but enough to completely throw off any kind of muscle memory you have built up from the previous part.

As a college freshman, I had to take those maligned fluff courses, so I chose history of rock and roll. The professor was the director of my school's band and he really liked Meshuggah, so much so that one day after class I was going to the grocery store and he was leaving for the day (going out the back of campus, which is closest to the grocery store) and I caught him with the windows down playing air drums to obZen.
