O'DOYLE RULES!!

[–]JonnyRichter 26 points27 points ago

O'Doyle, I've got a feeling your whole family's going down.

[–]Nizzler 6 points7 points ago

Is it just me, or are freshmen looking younger and younger each year?

[–]Suxout 9 points10 points ago

Yeah, it's called getting older.

[–]E-NTU 1 point2 points ago

"All right, all right"

[–]ZXfrigginC 1 point2 points ago

It's called getting older.

[–]avo_cado 1 point2 points ago

They stay the same age.

Aw yeah.

[–]tesnakeinurboot 48 points49 points ago

As a cross country runner, this about sums up me when I did a weight training program at my school.

[–]GoodLuckLetsFuck[S] 11 points12 points ago

We used to have this little guy on our distance squad (threw him a party when he hit 100 pounds his senior year), and every so often the throwers and distance runners would end up in the weight room at the same time. Never in my life have I heard so much cheering and commotion for any weight, let alone a 45 pound bar with 2.5's on it. He struggled so much with it, but was so damn proud that he could do the bar AND weight...good feels.

[–]Justicles13 5 points6 points ago

As a former cross country runner, they actually made you do weights?

[–]Schroedingers_gif 8 points9 points ago

Gotta look good in dem short shorts.

[–]PigDog4 5 points6 points ago

We had to do a lifting program during XC throughout highschool.

It was all 3-4 sets of 15-20 reps at weights you could handle. Holy shit benching 60+ reps of like 60% of your 1rm is the most fucking boring thing in the world. Probably a waste of time because form didn't really matter so much at such light weight. These weren't 20 rep widowmaker style squats, these were 20 reps at like 50% of your 5rm squats. It felt really dumb at the time, and looking back it still seems dumb now.

[–]Jynus13 0 points1 point ago

that is dumb. That template would have basically zero impact on running... Except for maybe a lil bit at finishline when pushing lactic acid threshhold. but even there there are far better ways to train this like tabata.

[–]tesnakeinurboot 0 points1 point ago

Yup, and I'm one of the larger ones.

[–]Jynus13 0 points1 point ago

ya, strength = hamstrings with more spring, allowing longer stride with same energy.

[–]superpedo 118 points119 points ago

Lifting with back and butt not out: Do you even lift and would not bang.

[–]Jestified 24 points25 points ago

Terrible form, terrible.

[–]Nyy 2 points3 points ago

Still does better than me...

[–]nerds-fuck-adaquetly 42 points43 points ago

Why are people in this thread so anti-lifting? What so bad about it?

[–][deleted] 90 points91 points ago

because a large portion of the community is out of shape so this shames them and they need to make fun of the kid to feel better

[–]nerds-fuck-adaquetly 19 points20 points ago

6 months. I wish this portion of the community would take six months and commit to exercising. It would change their mind. More confidence for one.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points ago

they would see a change even after 3 months of consistently doing an activity

[–]dukec 8 points9 points ago

Redditing is an activity.

It works my up and down vote muscles.

[–]PixelizedApe 2 points3 points ago

Very true. It's sad that it's started to be cool to be an out of shape neckbeard on this website.

[–]dkey1983 27 points28 points ago

Because name a time in film or television history where a guy that lifts is portrayed as anything other than a cocky pile of shit. We live in a culture where being manly = asshole.

I'm scrawny, btw.

[–]nerds-fuck-adaquetly 8 points9 points ago

Sadly true. If only people could actually see most people at (the gyms i've been to) gyms are usually super nice and willing to help if you want. On the same note if you want to be left alone to figure it out on your own most will let you do your own thing. Gyms are all about what you make it.

As a former fat kid, hit the gym. Not only is it good for you, it is also a lot of fun once you get into it. The results make it all worth it.

[–]Kintanon 2 points3 points ago

Batman lifts.

[–]justdoitok 1 point2 points ago

Thanks for recognizing this very real cultural phenomenon even though (as you implied?) you may have never felt the brunt of it first hand. That's very big of you so to speak. You might be interested in checking out r/swoleacceptance its basically a semi-satirical support group for muscular men who deal with discrimination (swole = buff).

[–]ERich2010 1 point2 points ago

Paranorman

[–]Flyingaspaceship 1 point2 points ago

Rocky.

[–]khajiitFTW -1 points0 points ago

For the sake of everything rational, use real life experience to form opinions and your outlook on LIFE.

[–]justdoitok 0 points1 point ago

My real life experience backs up what he said. I think if you can only form opinions based on what you have experienced first hand it can be somewhat overly cautious and limiting. Case in point: I'm not gay, but I support gay rights because I can empathize with a group that has faced discrimination that I can recognize and acknowledge even if it hasn't effected me directly. Just food for thought.

[–]kindel12 193 points194 points ago

gotta start somewhere, you fuckface. lol

[–]ShetlandJames 53 points54 points ago

Yeah, I have no time for people who guffaw at people at the gym who are obviously not muscle-men or marathon-runners. Journey of 1,000 miles and all...

[–]silentcrs 48 points49 points ago

It's about attitude, not effort. Every freshman male thinks he's big shit on campus when he first starts. It takes one good rejection to put some humility back in him.

[–]Rajio 23 points24 points ago

While it IS about attitude, being a dick to freshmen is a shitty attitude. Putting in a good effort in the gym despite being relatively inexperienced is a good attitude .

[–]avo_cado 2 points3 points ago

Being a dick to freshmen is a necessary part of instilling a cultural identity.

[–]GoodLuckLetsFuck[S] 19 points20 points ago

Ill just copy and paste from another comment...

I'm not being an asshole, its more of a nostalgia. I remember back when I was trying to gain respect by doing the same type of things....back before I realized nobody really cares how tough you are or how much you lift.

As long as you arent screaming, taking up space/being in the way, or hoarding things nobody is going to judge or say anything to you. Most people share the same attitude, and places like planet fitness will kick people out for creating a bad environment for others.

On a side note, I make it a point to comment to people (mostly big guys/girls) how you can tell how much progress theyve made, and how you can tell they are working really hard...so basically the opposite of the impression you got from watching this.

[–]arachides 2 points3 points ago

That wasn't even the point of the post. It's about their attitude after they picked up a weight for the first time and think they're really awesome.

[–]MrDrProfessor 17 points18 points ago

You'd think the freshman athletes would be stronger than the average person?

[–]turtlesquirtle 12 points13 points ago

It depends what sport mainly.

[–]danyanimal 9 points10 points ago

Plenty of freshman athletes don't know how to lift properly. They go in thinking they're strong because they can run a 5k faster than guys that strength train. I know that's how I felt when I arrived as a freshman.

[–]graffiti81 17 points18 points ago

"Look at my 600lb leg press. I can't squat 150lbs, but I can leg press like a motherfucker."

[–]MacGyvered 6 points7 points ago

They are strong, just in a different way. Different strokes for different folks.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

were you an athlete for your college

[–]danyanimal 1 point2 points ago

I suppose I could have worded that better. I was not an athlete in college, I played waterpolo and swam in highschool - which had me feeling like a badass. I've seen some shit though.

[–]DrakeSar 6 points7 points ago

I see some shit everyday, I'd like to think everyone does, otherwise you might want to go and see your doctor.

[–]Ceejae 2 points3 points ago

I'm assuming we're talking about freshman to a college right? So I don't get what the hell that has to do with weight lifting ability? Do gyms not exist outside colleges anymore?

I think OP just needed to come up with an excuse to use the gif. Doesn't really bother me I guess.

[–]MrDrProfessor 4 points5 points ago

Well colleges recruit top athletes out of high school, and if we're talking about the three major sports (in America) Basketball, Baseball, or Football then an incoming freshman at the collegiate level should probably be stronger than the average Joe in the gym

Edit: Spelling

[–]GoodLuckLetsFuck[S] 0 points1 point ago

BANANARCHY got the jist of it. The incoming freshman look like little kids for the most part. You can see their base and potential, but they are still kids...

[–]Ceejae 0 points1 point ago

Fair enough.

[–]k1ngmad 51 points52 points ago

At least they're in the gym trying to get bigger. Everyone had to start somewhere and I'm sure you weren't magically big before you started using the gym.

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points ago

this is reddit, everyone is obese

[–]ZXfrigginC 9 points10 points ago

I AM OFFENDED! FOR YOUR INFORMATION, I AM MERELY OVERWEIGHT!

I'LL HAVE YOUR NAME (FIRST AND LAST) SO I CAN GO COMPLAIN TO YOUR BOSS!!!

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points ago

my name is: Yerro Bese

[–]GoodLuckLetsFuck[S] 5 points6 points ago

QUICK SOMEONE POST THIS TO SRS.

[–]angrywhitedude 4 points5 points ago

I dunno man, I've seen a lot of posts along the lines of "Just started lifting, currently 6' 140 lbs and I'm worried I'm getting too bulky."

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points ago

sorry i didn't mean to exclude the people who just escaped from Auschwitz

[–]theCaptain_D 2 points3 points ago

HEY! Some of us are 90lb weaklings!

[–]snwborder52 0 points1 point ago

this is america, everyone is obese

FTFY

[–]digitalchris 0 points1 point ago

DAMNIT! Reading this comment made ME obese.

[–]olympic_lifter 0 points1 point ago

BMI = 31, technically I am obese.

But I wouldn't be obese if I didn't lift.

[–]notjackk 2 points3 points ago

It's okay to hate on freshmen during the first week, because 80% of them will never come back again and most of them are just trying to prove to their new friends that they know how do do a bicep curl while getting in your way. After that you respect every one in there no matter what they look like.

[–]arachides 0 points1 point ago

The comparison to freshmans and this gif is his attitude after he lifted such a small weight not making fun of him for lifting like 20 lbs.

[–]z0hu 22 points23 points ago

i wonder how much that kid weighs.. 50 lbs? he just deadlifted 1x+ his body weight.. better than most redditors could do most likely..

[–]sderrickson 1 point2 points ago

im 19, 6'2" 185 lbs, have played hockey my whole life without really going to the gym. ive always been very slim, even though i weigh 185, and have always been labeled a "stick" even though i had a reputation for delivering big hits on the ice. started lifting seriously in may, and started deadlifting at 185... now im at 255. i need to work on it more because my squat is higher (3x5 at 280) than my deadlift which it shouldnt be. so i guess it just depends on the person if 1x body weight should be difficult since im not trying to appear pompous or anything with this post.

[–]Dancedancedancer 6 points7 points ago

people care about this story.

[–]sderrickson 3 points4 points ago

your mom cared.

[–]TehFuggernaut 2 points3 points ago

Hockey. Player.

You're known for having massively developed legs, squatting and deadlift use your legs extensively.

[–]sderrickson 0 points1 point ago

i suppose.. just sort of pleasently surprised me since i have a lean, almost lanky build that doesnt promote muscle mass even when there is strength.

[–]alltimeisrelative 2 points3 points ago

better than most redditors could do most likely..

You got me there. I'm 132 pounds and definitely can't lift my weight.

[–]dkey1983 8 points9 points ago

Really? You're telling me you couldn't grab a bar with 132 and pull it up to your waist? I find this really hard to believe.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points ago

when i was 132 and 6'1 i couldn't do that, i was also so weak it was comical,2 years later at 145 it took me a whole 2 weeks to be able to pull my weight once i started lifting.

[–]theCaptain_D 1 point2 points ago

I'm 6'2" and have recently started doing deadlifts. I think it's harder if you have a tall thin build, because the motions are longer, you're lifting the weight higher, and mechanically your muscle/bone structure is not set up for power like a more stout person's are.

[–]GoodLuckLetsFuck[S] 2 points3 points ago

I have a huge wingspan and comparatively short legs. Bench press is the bane of my existence, but I feel like I can squat an economy car full of asians....in short, I agree.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

it's a leverage issue but that doesn't mean tall people aren't incapable

[–]theCaptain_D 0 points1 point ago

Yes leverage plays a major role-- basically it's where the muscles doing the work connect relative to the joint on the bones they are pulling VS the overall length of the bone... and tall people have long bones! (that's what she said?)

[–]MeltBanana -2 points-1 points ago

I'm 5'7 and weigh 130lbs. 24 years old, I smoke, I drink, and I never did much physical activity in my life(aside from skateboarding). When I first started lifting 6 months ago I deadlifted 185. Now I can pull 275. After seeing what most guys deadlift, I'd say 1.5x your bodyweight is average for a nonlifter, 2x is decent, and 3x is good.

[–]iPseudo 5 points6 points ago

3x is pretty outstanding in my opinion. 2x isn't bad. 2.8x is my goal, and I did 2.27 earlier this week.

[–]Alexa_B 2 points3 points ago

My first thought whenever I see this: http://gifsoup.com/webroot/animatedgifs7/3328890_o.gif

[–]bchah 2 points3 points ago

Love the sign behind him: HOUSE OF PAIN

[–]antnx 0 points1 point ago

.jpg but still a .gif?? How is this possible?

[–]GoodLuckLetsFuck[S] 0 points1 point ago

Magic

[–]gypsyg19 1 point2 points ago

Magic (FTFY)

[–]Stoutpants 0 points1 point ago

That kid's form make me cringe.

[–]dkey1983 0 points1 point ago

The anatomy of a kid's body at that age probably won't allow for typical form.

[–]Hogzilla88 11 points12 points ago

Yeah, how dare they be less accomplished than you?

[–]Phallic 27 points28 points ago

It's the attitude, not the achievement.

No-one needs to march around the gym like they're king shit.

If you're not, then you're just a poser who looks like an idiot.

If you are, then that will be self-evident and you don't have to show it off.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]Phallic 0 points1 point ago

That seems to me to be a very American take on it.

In Australia if you carried on like that people would just think you're a douchebag. The fact you won is already known to everyone, acting like you rule because of it just makes you unpleasant to be around.

[–]Doesnt_Get_Irony 1 point2 points ago

Wow way to jump to conclusions.

[–]americaishere 7 points8 points ago

He looks like he's in some sort of competition. Maybe he just won. Why can't he celebrate?

[–]DrayneO 10 points11 points ago

That's not the point he's trying to make

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

I want every one else to have pitifully low self confidence like meeeeee!!!

[–]Talvanen 0 points1 point ago

Solid comment.

[–]Rajio 1 point2 points ago

It's the attitude, not the achievement.

If you give a shit how other people walk around, that is a pretty shitty attitude.

[–]Antroh 24 points25 points ago

Fuckin sad that this kid thinks carrying himself that way is important

[–]JoinRedditTheySaid 22 points23 points ago

Man, just let the kid feel like a badass.

[–]RedAnarchist 78 points79 points ago

What the fuck? He's just pumped he pulled off that impressive accomplishment. It's a fairly naturally body pose akin to this.

Also, ITT Redditors who have no concept of sports let alone lifting give us their detailed critique of the situation. Had this been an image of the kid on an old school NES or something, the comment section would be filled with nothing but praise.

[–]andyjonesx 31 points32 points ago

I believe the man in the picture you linked is just driving an invisible jetpack.

[–]snorri 11 points12 points ago

Damnit, I clicked.

[–]iPseudo 5 points6 points ago

Clicked twice. Once thought the link was broke, so backed before reading. Second time because I realized it said something after I left the first time. Was no disappointed.

[–]avw94 1 point2 points ago

That looks quite a bit like Tom Cruise.

[–]GoodLuckLetsFuck[S] 80 points81 points ago

Just part of the power lifting culture...

That and some dudes just have ridiculous lats and cant really put their arms down.

[–]omgroflkeke 66 points67 points ago

It's not the lats or culture, it's the bench shirts they wear.

The shirts assist in the bench press by applying pressure to your arms to force them into an extended position.

[–]the53rdcalypso 20 points21 points ago

I... did not know that existed.

[–]emgirgis95 10 points11 points ago

Never thought I'd see a 15 minute video about how to put on a shirt.

[–]gaedikus 6 points7 points ago

ILS - invisible lat syndrome. Marines have it a lot.

[–]bc465 0 points1 point ago

I like to call it FILS. Flared imaginary lat syndrome.

[–]gnarlysaurus 5 points6 points ago

Here's the thing though. Bench shirts are for bench, not deadlift. Also, there is an entire technique on using a bench shirt, you can't just throw one on and gain 200 on your max. I don't use them, but I know it needs hard work still.

[–]radiodank 1 point2 points ago

There are also deadlift shirts...

[–]bc465 0 points1 point ago

Well... deadlift suits.

[–]JonnyRichter 0 points1 point ago

Isn't that counter-productive?

[–]snoharm 8 points9 points ago

To muscle gain, but not to competitive lifting.

[–]JonnyRichter 2 points3 points ago

Isn't that kind of giving yourself an unfair advantage (i.e., cheating)?

[–]nym_kalahi 15 points16 points ago

There are geared competitions and raw (no gear) competitions. The two are pretty different. But yes, bench shirts and squat suits really do add a lot to the total amount you can lift.

[–]who_r_you 2 points3 points ago

that might be the strangest thing ive seen on the net.

[–]Hyper440 15 points16 points ago

ILS, man. Imaginary Lat Syndrome.

So many unfortunate souls are afflicted with this condition. It doesn't get the attention and awareness it deserves. Perhaps we could organize events to increase awareness and sponsor research to find a cure?

[–]who_r_you 2 points3 points ago

thanks for speaking up brother. there are dozens of us.

[–]TentacleFace 0 points1 point ago

i was waiting for someone to bring this up.

[–]econologic 5 points6 points ago

My favorite is the guys with "air lats" that just carry their arms out like that for no good reason.

[–]GoodLuckLetsFuck[S] 2 points3 points ago

I always try not to laugh at These guys.

[–]TinyViolin 4 points5 points ago

That comment wasn't very important, but you did it anyway.

[–]asshatnowhere 0 points1 point ago

dude its a little kid

[–]Marf_to_marf 3 points4 points ago

That is so cute!!!

[–]Zerowantuthri 12 points13 points ago

This is the male version of Toddlers & Tiaras.

[–]BCP27 91 points92 points ago

Best gif from that show.

[–]theVice 98 points99 points ago

Assuming direct control.

[–]BCP27 30 points31 points ago

I'm gonna guess you got that reply from the same thread I got this gif.

It did get the most up votes.

[–]theVice 19 points20 points ago

I'm assuming that everyone saw that comment, actually I was counting down the seconds for someone to call me on it. I just think that it's the perfect caption and I think it should be replied every time this gif is posted.

[–]BCP27 8 points9 points ago

It really should be....kudos to the genius who it occurred to first.

[–]theVice 10 points11 points ago

Pissed my fucking pants when I first saw it.

Literally. ;)

[–]seat_is_taken 4 points5 points ago

There's always room for a well-placed ME quote.

[–]theVice 1 point2 points ago

It was you? Awesome

[–]seat_is_taken 2 points3 points ago

No, no. I just saw that quote too and thoroughly enjoy its use whenever appropriate.

[–]JoinRedditTheySaid 2 points3 points ago

They would if they could. They are living vicariously through their children.

[–]JorisK 2 points3 points ago

I am commander Shepard and this is my favourite quote on Reddit.

Disclaimer: I'm not actually commander Shepard

[–]mybreathyourlung 6 points7 points ago

I watch that and all I hear in my head is "Aaa Aaa Aaa Aaa!" "Aaa Aaa Aaa Aaa!" "AAA! AAA! AAA! AAA!" "AAA! AAA! AAA! AAA!"

[–]Ihadacow 2 points3 points ago

I watched that gif for too long, and started saying that out loud.

[–]Frankeh 2 points3 points ago

I hate that show and I hate the parents.

[–]Lcar210 29 points30 points ago

But, weight lifting is beneficial to your health. Please tell me how dressing up your 5 year old like a prostitute is helping her succeed?

[–]Capsize 8 points9 points ago

Sadly if it bags her a rich successful husband then she is very much doing not only well for herself, but also her offspring, which is the instinctual need of what we look for in a partner. It follows the origin of species perfectly no matter what our actual thoughts are.

Dressing like a whore and acting like a wag, while trying to bag a super rich husband is a valid attempt to succeed

[–]onenifty 3 points4 points ago

Pretty sad existence though, no? Basically being a prostitute. Women always have more to offer than just being pretty.

[–]Frankeh 3 points4 points ago

Pretty sad existence though, no? Basically being a prostitute. Women always have more to offer than just being pretty.

You mad? Get yourself pregnant from some rich guy and you've got 18 years of free living along with a free house and a bunch of other perks depending on how rich they are. It's what I'd do if I was an attractive woman. Working is essentially a mugs game. You've only got one life, after all.

Source:My auntie did it and it was super fucking effective.

[–]onenifty 0 points1 point ago

This is a sad dream, no matter how you look at it. I would be embarrassed to live my life like that if the roles were reversed.

[–]Frankeh 2 points3 points ago

Why? Because society has said you must earn your keep? Fuck that. If you can get a free meal ticket in life then you'd be a fool not to take it.

You could still do a job you liked doing if you felt like it, and you'd have even more freedom anyway since it wouldn't need to be a job that pays well. It could truly be something you enjoy.

[–]onenifty 0 points1 point ago

I hear what you're saying, and I don't disagree with you. I just think that the mindset of being pretty to score a rich guy is a crappy mindset if that's all your life is. If you use the opportunity to pursue a passion and leverage your opportunity to increase your life, then great. However, there are too many 'housewives of _____' out there to make me think that every woman wants more than to bag a rich guy. Existing solely as arm candy would be the most empty existence.

[–]Capsize 5 points6 points ago

Ofc but people attempt to survive and do whats good for themselves and their offspring. We created a society that rewards pretty idiots. Everytime you fap over kardashian instead of portman you're part of the problem

[–]onenifty 3 points4 points ago

Sadly, yes, society does reward pretty idiots. Not all of society, though.

[–]Jeeraph 4 points5 points ago

I'm doing my part at least.

[–]childofmalcav 1 point2 points ago

If I was female I'd be tempted to. Have a kid while you're young, healthy and able to deal with it, but having the resources to give the little one all it needs. Study when the kid gets old enough to start going to school, even if you take 10 years to get your degree, starting your career at 30 is not that bad, and you've removed any biological timescale to balance kids and career.

[–]Capsize 0 points1 point ago

Could u imagine having the time and resources to raise your child properly? Both parents being able to spend the first 5 years of the child's life there for them. Teaching them things all the time, not coming home from work tired and seeing your child for thirty minutes before bed?

That's the greatest gift anyone could give me. The financial stability to know my future child is secure and the freedom to personally shape them into not just a good human being, but one that challenges the world and may even change it with his ideas and thirst for the infinite.

[–]Buscat 9 points10 points ago

no, because that kid actually doing something.

[–]Maxmessi 2 points3 points ago

Isn't that really unhealthy at that age or is that a myth?

[–]Lionhearted09 12 points13 points ago

Definitely a myth

[–]horribledad 15 points16 points ago

Myth

[–]Athene_Wins 2 points3 points ago

Dude, people have to start somewhere. This was you at one point. Why do you have to be such an asshole? Only people in perfect fitness can go to a gym?

This is why I won't go and why I'm weak. Grow up.

/edit: OP seems nice, disregard my attack

[–]Jestified 6 points7 points ago

Go anyways brother, most people don't judge and if they are then they are the dbags everyone else is shaking their heads at. Whenever I see a beginner at the gym all I do is smile and say good on ya.

About the gif though I think he was more commenting on the over zealousness of the kid. But that can also be taken different ways. Whatever.

[–]Aezuno 3 points4 points ago

bro, dont go to the gym for any other reasons but yourself. Your own health is way more important. Ignore the douchebags and look for the helpfull guys in there, and believe me they are there!

When you work out, you will feel more secure about your body and strenght. I am not talking about an out of proportion buffed body, but just some workout strenght. The workout itself will help you lose stress and you feel happier.

Wich will help you in the future, for example; when talking to girls/boys or at a job interview.

[–]GoodLuckLetsFuck[S] 2 points3 points ago

I'm not being an asshole, its more of a nostalgia. I remember back when I was trying to gain respect by doing the same type of things....back before I realized nobody really cares how tough you are or how much you lift.

This is why I won't go and why I'm weak.|

You do not need a gym to be strong. Push ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups go a long way. Dip between two chairs.

You can be strong if you want to be.

Do the athletes at your school not have a separate weight room?

[–]GoodLuckLetsFuck[S] 4 points5 points ago

They do, but its still summer/there is a brand new fitness center to go along with their brand new weight room. The fitness center has a lot of machines that they dont.

it's funny I work in the university gym at my school and watching freshman athletes come in has been hilarious/awesome. Especially the volleyball and women's soccer teams. yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

[–]avo_cado 0 points1 point ago

I would like to second that "yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

[–]schmeditor 1 point2 points ago

It's really amazing when someone takes a gif that you've seen a hundred times and makes it hilarious all over again with a simple headline.

Best use of this gif i've seen so far, thumbs.

He'd probably be quite amazed considering he only has one penis.

I always laugh/die inside when people walk with their arms far to the side as if their muscles do not fit correctly underneath their arms.

Not going to lie, second week of first year of undergrad I hit the gym and started lifting...everything. No form, too much weight, no real idea what I was doing. Wasn't even trying to impress girls as the weight room was 100% male.

I thought, "man, I'm going to get in super shape!" Except I was sore for a week and had to tone it down a lot. It also didn't help that I got into a routine of eating vendor hot dogs after the gym.

Shit. That was 10 years ago. Damn you, young people!

[–]avo_cado 0 points1 point ago

What kind of magical place has a hotdog vendor outside the gym!?

[–]PIngp0NGMW 0 points1 point ago

University of Toronto...downtown campus had hotdog vendors all over the place. It used to be $2! How could I refuse!

[–]Pronage 1 point2 points ago

Dude can DL as much as me. Shi-

[–]lemmereddit -1 points0 points ago

Serious question here. When I was growing up, I was told that it was bad for kids to lift weights. It had something to do with bone growth. Is there any truth to that?

[–]EbonicPlague 0 points1 point ago

Don't college athletes have their own work out facilities and strength trainers??

[–]GoodLuckLetsFuck[S] 0 points1 point ago

Dont want to leave you hanging. Yes, but its summer. This means that there is a ton of cross training/ utilization of workouts that would not be used in season.

[–]theswimmingfrog 0 points1 point ago

This is going to be soon, Lol. At least swimming in the pool I am raw cause I'm not in the swim teams pool. Everyone there is just starting.

[–]zamboniman46 1 point2 points ago

C'mon this happens all year. Last year in the first semester I was able to work out in the morning. It was great, no douchey guys there, so i never had to fight for a bar station or machine. plus there are always cute girls in the morning. fast forward to second semester and i had to work out in the 4pm-6pm time range and the place is just crawling with bro's, the majority of them freshmen. you hear them talk about how they're there "for an hour and a half, KILLIN IT BRO!" when in reality they spend half of their time walking around, talking to other bros, drinking their protein shake, and looking at themselves in the mirror. so annoying to deal with

[–]TerranRepublic 1 point2 points ago

I think it is so cool how the older lifters in this gif act.

[–]Silverswimmer 0 points1 point ago

Yep, I am a freshman swimmer and this pretty much sums it up

[–]Moiphy 1 point2 points ago

Your high horse. Please dismount from it.

[–]HeorgeGarrison 0 points1 point ago

I doubt freshmen can lift that much. Also that kid is a boss.

[–]HustlerThug 0 points1 point ago

Dr Swole, the early years.

[–]OHIoGoonie 0 points1 point ago

Should have used "this sums up the weight room this weak". Because who doesn't enjoy a good pun.

[–]andyjonesx -4 points-3 points ago

This kid is almost as intolerable as the "I wanna be in Florida getting a tan on my back" kid.

[–]FrostByt 0 points1 point ago

I don't work out to get big. I workout to get ripped, sweet like a hog and do some serious core. 10% body fat goal and 6 pounds away!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Oh yay. More posts about being in college and dorm life!
