I haven't tried this out yet, but when people say being gay is a sin, I want to ask "Well, why isn't slavery?" and see what kind of reaction I get.

It's kind of impossible not to conclude that the reason slavery isn't a sin in the bible is because the men who wrote it didn't yet have the moral compass we now have. If a god had actually written that book you would think he would have the morality and fore-site to have gotten out ahead on that issue, right? I would love to hear the response from the faithful on that one though.

Philosopher take on slavery is that if we work for someone else, we are all slaves. A slave is paid in what? Food and shelter, we slave away 40 hours a week for money which is used for food, and shelter.

Aristotle said that society needs slaves if it wishes to grow. For slaves serve a major economic purpose in a non tribal society. Slavery still exists today, but we call it wage slaves. Groups of people working 18 hours a day for so little pay it just barely covers food and shelter.

Slave is by definition someone forced into servitude and isnt paid wages. Aren't people already forced into jobs to survive? Isnt food and shelter an alternative form of payment?

I think we focus on Leviticus a bit too much as a rebutal. It's fine if the person is using Lev to condemn, but we can't just assume they're referring to Lev when they say "the bible". After all people sometimes refer, instead, to (mis?)interpretations of Romans, Matthew, Luke, Acts, the story of sodom and gomorra etc.

Sarcasm or shitty trolling. Pretty obvious trolling if you read his other posts. What's funny though is (s)he calls me a hivemind piece of shit, when the whole essence of the post is basically hivemind awareness i.e. the same argument about Leviticus (valid as it is) keeps getting upvoted to the front page.
