This emotion is highly illogical. I shall reason to myself why I shouldn't be feeling this way and then that emotion will stop. I should not be this upset because my friend forgot about my birthday, so therefore I won't be. Poof! Problem solved!

Emotions are often not rational, that doesn't make them cease to exist nor does it make them invalid. You should consider making it a point to not tell her why the way she feels is wrong.
