That's deep

[–]SenorPantsbulge 160 points161 points ago

It would definitely be. That's the problem.

He's like 350 pounds or more...

I guess that's more than 250 pounds... so price is right rules, you're still good.

[–]taco_tuesdays 14 points15 points ago

This sparks within me a level of jealousy I did not know existed

[–]MisterIncredible 15 points16 points ago

I read this over many times and my brain just quit.

[–]Captridiculous 13 points14 points ago

At least it didn't go on strike like mine did. Unions, man. Seriously.

[–]ltra1n 11 points12 points ago

My brain kept reading

At least it didn't go on strike like mine did. Onions, man. Seriously.

[–]awhitekid 4 points5 points ago

Why the fuck did I also read onions? That hasn't happened to me before, but apparently a few other people did it too.

[–]vegeto079 2 points3 points ago

I didn't actually notice that it didn't say onions until I saw you had pointed it out. Had no idea what he was talking about.

[–]raydove9 3 points4 points ago

I read unicorns......I think I need to go to sleep.

[–]kkramar 0 points1 point ago

I read the title I would trust this man with my wife and NO.

[–]KaNineteen 48 points49 points ago

My high school was very white, very Texan, and very elitist. The kids there were total douchebags. That being said, they very weirdly respected the hell out of male cheerleaders. It started ironically a few years before when some guys got sick of asshole football coaches, but in the way these things can tend to do, it became an actual serious respect to the students that followed them. This created an environment where some of the best male athletes became cheerleaders instead linebackers. I actually saw guys doing things like this at our pep rallies. The cheerleaders were often better athletes than the guys on the field, and this was in Texas.

[–]Munt_Custard 34 points35 points ago

I bet the male cheerleaders were fucking the shit out of the female cheersquad though.

[–]UnfortunateCakeDay 8 points9 points ago

Problem?

[–]Munt_Custard -2 points-1 points ago

None whatsoever. It's just a weird twist, that's all.

[–]KaNineteen 0 points1 point ago

Dude, the girls that were cheerleaders my senior year... well, suffice it to say that it was really hard for me to believe that there was ever a time when guys weren't lining up to strap on uniforms and stick their hands under those skirts.

[–]imgonnacallyouretard 2 points3 points ago

Call me crazy, but having an ex-governor, ex-president male cheerleader from texas might have set the trend.

[–]KaNineteen 0 points1 point ago

You're crazy! But what do you mean?

[–]quarktheduck 0 points1 point ago

I think that's how it happened at my high school as well. There had been once guy on the competition squad that got teased and called fag a lot, but the next year five of the most "popular" guys in my class joined the team and suddenly being a guy and being a cheerleader was cool.

[–]wanderingtroglodyte 0 points1 point ago

Memorial in Houston?

[–]roland1014 74 points75 points ago

That's the All Stars Resort in Florida by Disney World. Cool place.

Edit: I a word.

[–]JAC521 39 points40 points ago

Very cool. I got my first kiss/makeout session there. I don't know why I felt the need to say that.

[–]Qwestions 18 points19 points ago

Jerry?

[–]Captridiculous 62 points63 points ago

... Sandusky?

[–]elastic-craptastic 6 points7 points ago

HEEEEYYYYYY OOOOOOOHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

[–]shifty1776 3 points4 points ago

I've stayed there

[–]joeyparis 3 points4 points ago

Ya I'm not sure what gym that is but it's probably from the Cheerleading Worlds or Contest of Champions. They're the two main cheer comps at the Milk House (the place in the gif).

[–]roland1014 1 point2 points ago

(the place in the gif)

That's the All Stars Resort in by Disney World

[–]joeyparis 0 points1 point ago

Oh my bad, you're right. That is the hotel. Well for those curious they were probably there for a competition at the milk house in the Disney wide world of sports location. But you're right, this is definitely the hotel lol

[–]Ronem 1 point2 points ago

I thought I recognized it!

[–]joeynana 0 points1 point ago

I was going to say that it looked the the All Stars at Disney World.

[–]Zai_shanghai 0 points1 point ago

Re: Your edit

Accidentally, or on purpose?

[–]roland1014 0 points1 point ago

Yes.

[–]madmaxzh55 33 points34 points ago

Collegiate male cheerleader here, this stunt is known as a "one-handed rewind coupie ." a very advanced stunt and it takes both the guy and the girl to be in perfect sync so they have practiced quite a bit.

[–]h7u9i 16 points17 points ago

How do you practice this kind of thing? If they mess up, someone could get really injured. Is there a machine/device that helps with the process at first, or do they just give a shot and hope nothing goes wrong?

[–]prototype0 10 points11 points ago

another collegiate male cheerleader here, basically everyone else on the team circles around and catches the girl if something goes wrong.

[–]madmaxzh55 3 points4 points ago

Basically the only way to learn is to try and fail till you get it right. Like prototype0 said, you have spotters to assist if something goes wrong.

[–]ghettobacon 2 points3 points ago

Where do you cheer? I used to at Rutgers my freshman/sophomore year then I got a internship that took up too much time

[–]redthursdays 39 points40 points ago

ah. male cheerleaders. it's a very cool profession if you can get good at it. i myself am not very good at it

[–]IMasturbateToMyself 12 points13 points ago

Is there a profession where it's still cool if you are not good at it?

[–]wildo421 24 points25 points ago

Modern music.

[–]Faps2Downvotes 4 points5 points ago

Zing!

[–]grumpyoldgit 2 points3 points ago

Arf

[–]quarktheduck 1 point2 points ago

You never really see it as a profession in high school, just an extracurricular, but one of the guy cheerleaders I went to school with actually coaches competition teams now, and evidently makes enough money that he could afford going to the Olympics this year.

[–]fiveballcascade 16 points17 points ago

This is really physics in motion. It reminds me of a quote from an Olympic weight lifter, "You don't move the bar, you move your body around the bar." Look how he squats like he is going to jump, then, he starts to rise up. When she is about 6 inches in the air, he pushes her up, transferring his vertical momentum to her. Keep in mind, he is a big guy and he transfers his momentum (which is a function of both mass and velocity) really fluidly.

[–]KyleGrover 4 points5 points ago

ah, human juggling

[–]fiveballcascade 0 points1 point ago

[–]Ilikecornandcock 1 point2 points ago

when they lift the flyer up in the air and then bring them back down, it's called a high settle. just a tidbit :)

[–]dormetheus 0 points1 point ago

Also, she's rotating her flip into exact timing.

[–]Blindocide 1 point2 points ago

everything is physics in motion.

[–]noodlesqueen 5 points6 points ago

I watched this gif over 20 times and i just cant seem to wrap my head around it. o_O

[–]MisterWonka 1 point2 points ago

If you need to wrap your head around stuff, you should talk to this man.

[–]joshbike 0 points1 point ago

His brute force helps lifts her plank-like body into the air as she jumps (She has to keep her muscles activated for this to work). She then rotates backwards and opens her hips to land upright while he moves his incredible strong hand to catch her two feet.

[–]hflat 2 points3 points ago

Its more his lockout strength that it impressive, his hand isn't doing much.

[–]joshbike 0 points1 point ago

Re-watching i noticed his arm is slightly bent so he can use his biceps more. I reckon his hand would have to do quite intense stabalising and gripping on her foot unless she landed perfectly on the center of his hand.

You can see his fingers gripping on the outside of her shoes.

[–]dormetheus 0 points1 point ago

She did rotate to land almost perfectly, though.

[–]joshbike 0 points1 point ago

Yes she did, although there is still stabilizing and gripping on her shoes as shown by the fact that he never stops moving.

[–]hflat 0 points1 point ago

That would be his triceps, not his biceps! And I think he just goes under lockout a bit to smooth landing and give a tiny room for error.

[–]joshbike 0 points1 point ago

True the triceps would be doing more. But the bicep would still be contracting isometrically.

[–]hflat 0 points1 point ago

Its not even a load bearing muscle in lockout, its an eccentric muscle in an overhead press.

[–]joshbike 0 points1 point ago

I'm so tired irl.

its an eccentric muscle contraction in an overhead press.

FTFY and i think we agree anyway?

[–]hflat 0 points1 point ago

/agree

[–]Kneewhite 5 points6 points ago

Um, Holy Crap!

[–]Derplight 10 points11 points ago

I'm guessing this is the spring season cheerleading competetion at disney world because they are currently in the all star sports resort in which disney owns. I can recognize those balconys anywhere.

[–]xx2Hardxx 1 point2 points ago

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. I was on that "football field" last month when I visited my family that lives in Orlando.

[–]_oogle 7 points8 points ago

[–]MisterWonka 7 points8 points ago

You mean the video techs who faked that shot? Sure...I'd trust them with my special effects needs.

[–]Gudeldar 0 points1 point ago

I wouldn't, its painfully obvious its fake.

[–]MisterWonka 0 points1 point ago

*it's

[–]HiveMindNotMe 4 points5 points ago

Ouch my head

[–]RobinBanks -1 points0 points ago

I do believe this is a bad fake.

[–]_oogle 3 points4 points ago

If it was a bad fake you wouldn't believe it was, you'd know it was.

[–]RobinBanks 0 points1 point ago

Well then Mr./Ms. Literal, allow me to reiterate for your benefit alone.

I do declare this to be a bad fake. Better? Or did I waste my time for a pedantic ass?

[–]_oogle -1 points0 points ago

If it's a bad fake you'll have no problem showing me concrete evidence that it's fake, right?

[–]RobinBanks 0 points1 point ago

A basketball rim is 18 inches in diameter, the net is obviously smaller. The girl slides through the rim and net without any interference from either. If this were real the girl would want to have her arms above her head, not by her sides because this will reduce the width of her shoulders allowing her to go through the hoop more safely, but she doesn't. Additionally she does not go through the hoop at a perpendicular angle thus increasing the area she requires to make it through.

Other than the laws of physics to draw skepticism you can watch how the cheerleaders act before and after the stunt, phony enough for me.

This video is close to ten years old. There are likely dozens of internet discussions concluding that it is fake if my conclusions are not enough for you.

If you want to see how it looks when someone goes through a basketball hoop watch this other internet classic. @1:44

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y-EvnfGO9Y

[–]jaxter19 48 points49 points ago

Because, you know, the girl's exceptional balance and spatial awareness had nothing to do with it.

[–]saigus 181 points182 points ago

She's putting a huge trust in him to be a rock-steady base, he's putting his trust in her that she won't land wrong and break his arm. They're both phenomenal at what they do.

[–]imaerehw 69 points70 points ago

indeed. And this gif clearly highlights the large muscular man launching a woman into the air with one hand and proceeding to catch her in the air with the same hand, holding her steady and rotating his base a bit.

Of course this cheerleader is good as what she does, that's why she is the one who is being tossed into the air. She's great at maneuvering in the air, landing, and retaining balance on a small, possibly unsteady support.

But we've seen those girls being held in the air before, in the same position. Only this time you have one guy performing the entire lift, which is pretty intense.

tl;dr jaxter19 sucks

[–]silenc3x 13 points14 points ago

Only this time you have one guy performing the entire lift, which is pretty intense.

yeah, and with only one arm...

[–]Zenton 0 points1 point ago

only one arm...

[–]silenc3x 6 points7 points ago

[–]mmmmBellyRubs 28 points29 points ago

The muscles required to do what the flyer just did are insane. First off, that's not a deadlift. He boosted her mid-backflip. When the flyer is already in motion, lifting her higher takes significantly less force. Second, she just did a backflip onto a tiny, shaking landing. That takes a whole lot of guts and a lot of muscle control and the ability to do a damn backflip from standing. Third, sure she's "just standing there," but in order to stand there she has to be tensing ever muscle in her body to stay stiff and balance-able. If she messes up, she goes down and hopefully her base will catch her. It's really not pretty when they don't. Real skill isn't in doing something hard, it's doing something hard and making it look easy.

tl;dr: don't dismiss the flyer.

SOURCE: I'm a fucking cheerleader.

[–]imaerehw 18 points19 points ago

I didn't dismiss the flyer. I don't know much about cheerleading, but I thought it was safe to assume it's pretty damned hard to do that shit. So when I see a girl doing a stunt that i've seen at a high school foot ball game, but this time, instead of 4 people as a base, it's ONE GUY doing it ONE HANDED, i focus in on that new element.

get off the high horse.

source: im a stoned equestrian.

[–]Jedakiah 13 points14 points ago

I was with you right up until "get off the high horse". Why would you assume someone adding information to your post is doing so in an antagonistic manner? Discussion on the internet does not have to be debate.

[–]owarren 7 points8 points ago

This might be the most logical thing I've ever read.

[–]imaerehw 3 points4 points ago

the "im a fucking cheerleader", combined with the tl;dr and the fact that the cheerleader didn't read my post contributed greatly

[–]dormetheus 0 points1 point ago

Maybe the new element is that the flyer is landing on a single, potentially unstable hand?

[–]quarktheduck 0 points1 point ago

High school football cheerleaders don't do many impressive stunts, but then again, they aren't there to show off athleticism, they're there to be, y'know, cheerleaders. High school competition cheerleaders, however, do. Stunts like this are getting increasingly more commonplace as it becomes more common for guys to be accepted as cheerleaders.

[–]jaxter19 0 points1 point ago

Especially when colleges are willing to give out great scholarships for the rare male cheerleader, I can see why it's becoming a little more popular.

[–]elastic-craptastic 0 points1 point ago

Are you saying you get really high riding on your horse as it jumps over shit?

[–]rsandoval92 -1 points0 points ago

The muscles required aren't THAT insane but the skill certainly is.

[–]DrFranknFurter -1 points0 points ago

boom.

[–]theShiftlessest -4 points-3 points ago

And it's still not a sport. Seriously, no pads or head protection for you! They aren't feminine enough!

[–]armedwithturtles 2 points3 points ago

every time I see people doing crazy things like this I always wonder how hard and painful the learning and practice sessions must be... especially for things like flips

[–]hflat 1 point2 points ago

Never done cheer leading but I've stacked flips countless times learning (freerunning mostly so on grass or plyo or mat) and most of the time its painless. When you jar your joint or get winded though its a bitch

[–]fromhades 4 points5 points ago

no love for the spotter?? the guy on the left is clearly there in case things go wrong. the title really should be "I would trust these men with my life."

[–]Lostkalamari 5 points6 points ago

Flippin' Bitches.

[–]nbadog -1 points0 points ago

people said the same about this guy

Oh, hell no! I would die of fright on the way up!

[–]Devanismyname 0 points1 point ago

He got to touch her bum.

[–]aryst0krat 0 points1 point ago

Holy fuck, what a badass.

[–]zitfarmer 0 points1 point ago

I would not. Its a common known fact cheerleaders dont know how to use guns and they are for some reason in the top ten list for first to be attacked by zombies.

[–]baultista 0 points1 point ago

An old coworker of mine in 2007 was the most nonstereotypical college cheerleader on the planet... very intelligent, well spoken, and down to Earth. Unlike the preppy girls you associate with cheerleaders, she just seemed like a very normal person who got into it more for her love of gymnastics than anything else. She said that most male cheerleaders at her school were recruited at the gym by cheerleaders flirting with them. Many were jacked up but awkward and most just wanted to meet girls. On a yearly basis about half of the guys would quit because of the cheerleader drama, and the ones who stayed were really only still there because they started dating one of the girls or still saw it as a way to meet girls.

[–]c_anderson1390 0 points1 point ago

Now this is cheerleading! Wish I could do that.

[–]RudegarWithFunnyHat 0 points1 point ago

[–]Domsuyang 0 points1 point ago

[–]manlicious 0 points1 point ago

This man must get all kinds of strange

[–]professionalbadass 0 points1 point ago

For a while I though she was just standing on air. I couldn't even see the back guy's arm.

[–]Phoequinox 0 points1 point ago

Tactful. His hand is on her lower back. I'd trust this man with most anything.

[–]melokku 0 points1 point ago

I would trust that guy with my life only after the other 200 attempts where the girl's face met the concrete floor

[–]TheyCallMeStone 1 point2 points ago

(Former) male cheerleader here. Those girls literally do trust their partners with their lives.

[–]ajk511 0 points1 point ago

As a male cheerleader I'd just like to point out that the trick is not that hard...... This is like a 5 out of 10

[–]ghettobacon 1 point2 points ago

What are you saying? That is one of the most advanced non-transition stunts a single base and flyer can do. I mean I would say a full up is harder but what else really?

[–]terrible_name -2 points-1 points ago

[–]FuglyShmugly 1 point2 points ago

In reverse it looks like her hair is initiating the flip down.

[–]RearmintSpino -2 points-1 points ago

That's every male college cheerleader that's ever existed, ever. What was special about this that you felt the need to point out?

[–]rsandoval92 0 points1 point ago

1) not everyone see this kind of stuff, not like college cheerleading is a popular thing to watch.

2) def not all of them can do this one handed solo

[–]wcleveland -3 points-2 points ago

All of a sudden this is less impressive: http://imgur.com/gjaG2

[–]ydmwiczcni 0 points1 point ago

how did she get up there in the first place

[–]Hunter5Thompson -5 points-4 points ago

I wouldn't trust this guy with my bike

[–]ihateusernamesfuck 0 points1 point ago

Bottom line, both of these people are awesome at what they do.

[–]Trouterspayce -2 points-1 points ago

Happy cake day.

[–]stayfrosty25 -1 points0 points ago

I would not trust this man in jail...

[–]Oddgenetix -4 points-3 points ago

As a former male cheerleader, i can expertly say, what happened in that gif is next to impossible.

[–]ghettobacon 1 point2 points ago

What are you saying? That's a one handed rewind cupie, it's not impossible at all. I've seen it in person many times during practice and used to do it myself for pete sakes

[–]Oddgenetix 0 points1 point ago

Then you are pro as fuck my friend. Kudos.

[–]ghettobacon 0 points1 point ago

Nah dude, it just took lots of practice and having a coach who cheered at Kentucky teach you lol. But whatever, I stopped cheering after my sophomore year (going into senior yr of college). I miss all the free traveling and going on the football field but internships were more important for my future

[–]Oddgenetix 0 points1 point ago

We also must admit missing that sweet male cheerleading ratio. I cheered for cheer camp. 5,000 girls, 20 guys. I also find the idea that male cheerleaders are gay...hilarious. Not saying there weren't gay dudes, because there were. But let's be honest, 99% of male cheerleaders were there for the bitches. Hell even the gay cheer leaders were there to expand their pool of beautiful girls.

[–]ghettobacon 0 points1 point ago

Yeah I agree with that, I only joined the bitches and stayed for the perks while having to do barely anything!

[–]Oddgenetix 0 points1 point ago

It does frustrate me a great deal that cheerleading still isn't considered a sport.

[–]ghettobacon 0 points1 point ago

I think only competitive cheering should be a sport, the rest shouldn't be.
