Laurel and Hardy live in a town populated by nursery rhyme characters. When Little Bo Peep refuses to marry the evil Baranby, he unleashes an army of bogey men to take over the town. Laurel and Hardy cobble together an army of wind-up, wooden soldiers to fight off the bogey men.

The cat and mouse are from the nursery rhyme: Hey diddle, diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon....
