I want to be rich.

[–]Dexter77 21 points22 points ago

In a few years you can print your Minecraft house in the real world.

[–]Mangalaiii 0 points1 point ago

lies.

[–]possiblypunctilious 4 points5 points ago

Step one: get an income of some sort.

Step two: increase your income by investing in something that tangibly augments it. Flipping burgers? Save some money from your paycheck until you can flip burgers and buy a broken down bike, fix it up, and resell it. Eventually, you'll make more money doing something other than flipping burgers (or fixing bikes, or whatever pragmatic scheme you employ to get extra income--pragmatic is key here, because you already have a "steady paycheck" you can use it to try out all kinds of small time enterprises after some research and not worry about going hungry) and when your income is high enough and sustainable, you can borrow money to further that enterprise. That's step three.

Borrow a lot of money and expand the way you make income. Partner with people, figure out the expenses, develop a plan (don't worry, they won't let you borrow enough money if you don't have a decent plan or enough partners or know what the hell you are doing), hire employees to do most of it, sit back and collect profits. Hire a good tax man to help you write off everything (government is pretty generous with new enterprises) and keep yourself protected (becoming an LLC, partnering, incorporating, etc.)

Step Four: Congratulations! You're already "rich". How do you keep it? Well, you can invest a hunk of the profits you're not using to put back into your company (always try to BOTH cut costs of business and expand/innovate/differentiate your product or service or you'll slowly lose money) in basic CDs or in bonds. Hire someone to develop a portfolio for you, but once you get to this step you've got to make a decision: Do you want to keep struggling against competitors and market chaos because "I believe in my service/product", or do you want out?

Step Five: if you really believe in whatever it is you're doing, hire more people who have experience and education (oddly enough education is more important than experience--despite the common sense of the reverse) to basically expand your business for you. Eventually you'll be so big you won't have to expand yourself, you'll just buy up smaller competitors. There are tricks to keep doing this until you're a virtual monopoly, legally. This step is INSANELY DIFFICULT and has little reward other than ideological. If you want out skip to step six.

Step six: you're going to want to get big enough for people to offer to buy you out. This means being dangerous. You start underselling your competitors even if you lose money and when you get attention you hire some brokers and put out an IPO, making sure you keep the 51% needed to have a controlling interest. You're going to want to promise immediate sale of the company once you get enough stock to really undersell the competition. Now, if you truly want to make money it's probably best to keep that promise. Yes, the company becomes your private piggy bank and there are many ways to manipulate everyone, but it's unsustainable. You can't keep the losses from the shareholders forever and you can't defer paying dividends forever. Once you are truly dangerous to the bigger fish, they'll buy you out at a good price.

In truth, though, if all you want is to get a house like OP's pic, might as well be a pain in the ass to your business partners and let them buy you out earlier than having to mess around with IPOs.

[–]teh__sukc 0 points1 point ago

Where do the underpants come in to play before the profit?

[–]fireboats 77 points78 points ago

That's really cool! Low on privacy if you want to mess around in the pool and the kids are watching a movie downstairs though.

[–]TheTalentedAmateur 55 points56 points ago

I immediately thought of the reverse-"Honey, get off me! The damn neighbor kids are snorkeling again!"

[–]liberal_texan 62 points63 points ago

I immediately thought of throwing a sexy party with very high voyeuristic potential.

[–]himurax3x 7 points8 points ago

id so skinny dip in that pool.

[–]imsorryfrank 4 points5 points ago

id so skinny dip in any pool

[–]Tyko 2 points3 points ago

Stewie?

[–]polarityomg 38 points39 points ago

Do people who live like this generally have kids?

[–]FightingPolish 37 points38 points ago

If they do their kids are off at boarding school.

[–]afihavok 1 point2 points ago

or floating facedown in the pool

[–]Slime0 6 points7 points ago

Also, make sure you never upset anyone. Or, live somewhere with no rocks. One or the other.

[–]xtelosx 6 points7 points ago

It is very likely ballistic glass. They would need way more than a rock.

[–]hoos_e 22 points23 points ago

[–]theyseemetrollin101 6 points7 points ago

Do people not understand that nobody follows Youtube links from reddit?

I mean, non-RES friendly = :(

[–]calm_collective 1 point2 points ago

I'm sure if they can afford to build that they can afford to build a secret sex dungeon behind the book shelf in the library.

[–]Dourpuss 1 point2 points ago

I am sad that this is what I thought of first. Far too many evenings of "don't look outside, don't come and get us under any circumstances, if the house catches fire, leave through the front door"

I looked once. I'll never look again.

[–]spunkenhimer -1 points0 points ago

If you have kids and you have a home/pool like that you're doing it wrong.

[–]curious_mormon 0 points1 point ago

This and kids? Privacy is the least of your worries.

[–]lisabadcat 33 points34 points ago

Welcome to the Venture compound.

[–]ewdrive 15 points16 points ago

You beat me to it. Go Team Venture!

[–]lisabadcat 19 points20 points ago

[–]TheDoktorIsIn 0 points1 point ago

All of my upvotes. You and the writers/animators of Futurama get them.

Unfortunately, "all" is only one. Sorry.

[–]N4N4KI 0 points1 point ago

Fox really did kill Futurama, when they moved to comedy central they could not keep the full writing team that had been used season 1-5, so starting with the movies it was a fragmented team and boy does it show :(

It used to seem like a world you were discovering parts of, now it just seems like a cheap backdrop that changes to suit silly sight gags and plotlines.

[–]TheDoktorIsIn 0 points1 point ago

I thought the end of Fun on a Bun was pretty good, but you are right. The finale to season 5, especially, and season 6 were probably my favorite episodes.

Nostalgia, thy name is Space Pilot 3000.

[–]psychoticapes 4 points5 points ago

First thing I thought, too. Son of a bitch! Upvotes for both of you.

[–]slickback503 2 points3 points ago

double dammit, I thought I'd be here first.

[–]polarlover 1 point2 points ago

Marry me.

[–]FUCKED-WITH-A-KNIFE 20 points21 points ago

This house looks like something I created in Sims 3 ages ago.

[–]scarymonkey11622 16 points17 points ago

Read this as Sims, 3 ages ago. now I'm interested as to what and age is.

[–]couldnt_careless 6 points7 points ago

2,150 years

[–]Buhrock42 0 points1 point ago

As did I..

[–]SonyMaxell 33 points34 points ago

Ok...am I the only person who thought of what a bitch it would be to keep the glass clean...but chances are if you own this house you can hire someone to do it for you. So never mind.

[–]photolouis 2 points3 points ago

Giant snails

[–]GoSkers29 5 points6 points ago

Nope, though I was thinking about the pool as a whole. My second thought was "this is a sign that I'm getting older."

[–]destinys_parent 6 points7 points ago

wow I was thinking that too.. "hmm I wonder how much it costs to maintain that thing in that condition". I'm only 20 smh.

[–]superatheist95 1 point2 points ago

I can't imagine it would cost much more than a regular pool to maintain.

[–]Eskoala 5 points6 points ago

A normal pool can get a bit dirty when you aren't using it and no-one cares. This needs year-round probably weekly cleaning so that the basement room is bearable!

[–]mtnkodiak 1 point2 points ago

Completely. As someone who has a pool (albeit a boring fiberglass version), that was my first reaction. Uncovered and in the sun like that, unless you're using some new method of maintenance, you're going to have some issues with organic growth. And those corners... ugh!

But yeah, I guess if you have a pool like this, you hire people to clean it for you.

[–]spidersnake 35 points36 points ago

Hey ladies, why don't you go for a swim? Me and the guys are just going downstairs to watch... something.

[–]teapotbong 2 points3 points ago

exactly my first thought too!

[–]Petroleum_genie 82 points83 points ago

Well done, Minecraft PR!

[–]skinnymidwest 6 points7 points ago

This is what I came here to say :(.......being a redditor makes me feel so molded.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

...no!

[–]trampled_tortoise 9 points10 points ago

Reminds me of the training mission in Lara's house in Tomb Raider 3. The basement pool underneath the house!

[–]TheeFlipper 1 point2 points ago

That's the first thing I thought of. I need to play that game again.

[–]SnideJaden 6 points7 points ago

That's the sky garden house? Truly amazing, check it out. http://www.archdaily.com/112766/sky-garden-house-guz-architects/

[–]nagasstolemybike 1 point2 points ago

I never wanted to own a house so badly!

That's just amazing!

[–]OldManRodgers 1 point2 points ago

Different house. Equally as beautiful though!

[–]wolfavenger 4 points5 points ago

well, my house sucks ass

[–]Redditornothereicumm 3 points4 points ago

Adam Carolla has a bar at his house with the same idea. There are port holes behind the bar that look into the pool.

[–]hairysachs 2 points3 points ago

I definitely want one of these!

[–]NoNotHimAgain 2 points3 points ago

That roof!

[–]koyo4 2 points3 points ago

isnt that pool covered with a glass floor?

[–]beachjustice 3 points4 points ago

An excellent place to horrify a member of that family with a dead member of said family and a rosy tint in the water.

[–]Agent_Bacon 1 point2 points ago

First thing I thought of: "What if the glass cracks?"

[–]gingerjoyce 0 points1 point ago

Me too. There is no outside reinforcement on the glass and all that water is going to create a lot of pressure from the weight.

[–]AgCrew 3 points4 points ago

The glass is pretty thick if you look closely.

[–]gingerjoyce 0 points1 point ago

It does, but it's the length of the run of glass without any reinforcement. The longer the piece of glass the greater the bend that will be created by the weight of the water. That's why, in large aquariums (for whales, seals, etc.) the glass is really thick but there are still reinforcements at certain points. In this case, on the closest edge you can see the corner joint and at least three other joins. None of them are reinforced....at least visibly in the photo.

[–]ullrsdream 3 points4 points ago

Wow! Good call! There's probably a reason that aquariums don't exist...

[–]bluemli 2 points3 points ago

I'd set up a camera in the basement to film myself having sex with my boyfriend in the pool, just to see what it'd look like from the the other side of the glass.

[–]jb2386 0 points1 point ago

Ahh This is how my dream home would go. EXCEPT: In the room below, it'd be a library, and between the room and the pool, there would be a 1 to 2 foot wide fish tank. :D

Too bad this is a shop though :( the angle of the stairs is wrong. On the top one, they go around the corner, the bottom one has them going straight.

[–]MmmCoffeeBreath 16 points17 points ago

[–]babyzeeps 2 points3 points ago

I think the pool curves around to the other side. It could be from there.

[–]phamnuwen92 -1 points0 points ago

It could be a different stair on the other side of the house.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Good eye

[–]gingerjoyce 0 points1 point ago

If you are right about the photoshop then it would make a lot of sense.

[–]superawesomeq 0 points1 point ago

Maybe they have a whole underground floor. and the room connected to the pool is underground right by the stairs. Rich people own crazy shit

[–]404AikNotFound 1 point2 points ago

source?

[–]NFLdoWORK 0 points1 point ago

I immediately had some weird sexual fantasies upon seeing this.

[–]destinys_parent 0 points1 point ago

me too :/

[–]Ihateyourdick -1 points0 points ago

It'd really be horrible if somebody got diarrhea in the pool.

[–]yosemitesquint 7 points8 points ago

No matter how it is constructed or designed, it would be unpleasant for a guest to shit in your pool.

[–]Trebay 0 points1 point ago

I like the roof top garden too.

[–]ribcracker 1 point2 points ago

Someone plays The Sims.

[–]cantstopmenoww 1 point2 points ago

Most of the time, I'm all like "pure capitalism is evil, I'm happy with my moderate lifestyle and charitable donations!"

Then I see something like this and I'm all "Fuck aaaaaall y'all, I'mma get my money and watch my basement TV while snorkling outside."

[–]Mugford9 1 point2 points ago

Above-ground pools are for poor people.

[–]statuek 0 points1 point ago

You're gonna have a bad time.

[–]agentsterling -1 points0 points ago

Sex in the pool would be ... awkward. •_•

[–]thecotton 1 point2 points ago

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?

[–]utzbas 0 points1 point ago

ohhh myyy goddddd....you cant be serious...love it

[–]mrgreenjeans9 1 point2 points ago

'floaters' will seem extra creepy on that groovy couch

[–]Eddiejeselnik 0 points1 point ago

eye floaters right?

[–]mrgreenjeans9 1 point2 points ago

the less specific the better in this case methinks

[–]Navy0Corps 0 points1 point ago

i want one!!

[–]CR0WN239 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, I'm going to build a house like this on minecraft.

[–]Calypte 0 points1 point ago

I'd rather have a huge fish aquarium than a pool, but that's just me.

[–]EONS 0 points1 point ago

Looks like the pool from Californication.

[–]Holden_McNeil 1 point2 points ago

Very cool, I wonder what something like that cost to do ? Anyone have any thoughts ?

[–]EminGH 0 points1 point ago

[–]bkruz 0 points1 point ago

anyone have floor plans/blue prints!?

[–]Jophus 0 points1 point ago

Maybe I'm missing something, but these can't be the same house, the stairs don't match up.

[–]green_clock 0 points1 point ago

Agreed that is annoying me too.

[–]BobRossNTV 0 points1 point ago

I'm pretty sure they had something like this in the Venture Bros.

[–]crazyasiantom179 0 points1 point ago

Holy shitfuck I want this house

[–]bpoag 0 points1 point ago

If say they're pulling air in their water pump. :)

[–]Saltywhenwet 0 points1 point ago

I am impressed with the Infinity pool draining into the hidden trough. Just watch for lawn clippings in the rocks, you will clog the filter quick

[–]Skepticali 0 points1 point ago

Holy one percenters.

[–]I_FISTED_MY_GRANDMA 0 points1 point ago

So that's where i set up the camera, right?

[–]easyleafs 0 points1 point ago

You really stepped it up a Notch

[–]DontPaniC562 0 points1 point ago

what magic is this

[–]SeaBones 0 points1 point ago

As a person who cleans residential homes most mornings for extra money....ALL THAT FUCKING GLASS NOPE.

[–]OwlsDiving 0 points1 point ago

WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT

[–]angrypikachu 0 points1 point ago

That shit right there is whats up

[–]ns29 0 points1 point ago

I can't help but imagine a situation unfolding like this Bud Light commercial

[–]iCyber 0 points1 point ago

Shut up and take my mortgage debt!

[–]Aleebi 0 points1 point ago

Am I the only one who is wondering how you can breathe? Besides coming back up the entrance, of course.

[–]superatheist95 0 points1 point ago

How you can breathe in that room?

What?

[–]katalyst_ 0 points1 point ago

why the fuck are awesome pictures like these always low resolution?

[–]h_lehmann 1 point2 points ago

Because they're fake.

[–]tinpin 0 points1 point ago

Looks like a modded house off The Sims.

[–]xKELDORx 0 points1 point ago

I wish I could buy a house like this :\

[–]Trickish 0 points1 point ago

is there a subreddit for this type of cool stuff?

[–]Cptn_Sisko 0 points1 point ago

That would be a bitch to clean

[–]JohnDeRol 0 points1 point ago

That looks like one of those minecraft houses I built.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

All it would take is one rock and the will to do it...

[–]chaos122345 0 points1 point ago

us- wow thats an awesome basement pool, very classy.

owner- ah fucking pipes broke again. honey! the basements flooded again!!!

but seriously that is really cool.

[–]gnarlysaurus 0 points1 point ago

That basement pool window would have butt cheek shapes all over it.

[–]redditspice 0 points1 point ago

that's a fucking pain in the ass for upkeep

you've never owned a pool...

[–]alsoGoatfoot 0 points1 point ago

Gotta admit, i dismissed this as minecraft when i first saw it

[–]ADavies 0 points1 point ago

Better get yourself some pallets to store stuff on.

[–]rayne05 0 points1 point ago

I got that reference. I'm unsure if I should be proud or not.

[–]acecode47 0 points1 point ago

Seems like the perfect lair to devise evil plans with the sexy minions swimming in the background

[–]arcademachin3 0 points1 point ago

Good luck cleaning it.

[–]HerperDerpingham 0 points1 point ago

That's exactly how I built my house in Minecraft.

[–]Snixpix 0 points1 point ago

Ohh money..... I fucking hate you

[–]Valiant4Funk 0 points1 point ago

Looks like my Minecraft house.

[–]camel15 0 points1 point ago

thats awsome

[–]metarugia 0 points1 point ago

Yup. Definitely built that in minecraft.

[–]vijrox 0 points1 point ago

The upper picture somehow reminds me of Ziba Tower in BF3.

[–]austinxp 0 points1 point ago

Dream home.

[–]slumpsox 0 points1 point ago

Way to much upkeep

[–]rachie27 0 points1 point ago

This reminds me of Super Mario 64.

[–]afihavok 0 points1 point ago

awesome until the foundation shifts.

[–]DictatorDan 0 points1 point ago

How did you assholes get a picture of my house?

[–]Oldman411 0 points1 point ago

A basement with a view.

[–]Haat 0 points1 point ago

Lol, earthquake time.

[–]zapodart 0 points1 point ago

Who is this architect?

[–]Eustis -1 points0 points ago

I NEED IT

[–]LBK2013 -1 points0 points ago

For a prank I'd jump in butt ass naked and push my beautiful naked body up against the glass.

[–]ColdCaulkCraig 1 point2 points ago

My favorite thing to make in minecraft.

[–]zodiac720 -2 points-1 points ago

Well, this would be awesome if I had 20 grand!

[–]bluntmasterflash 3 points4 points ago

20 grand...that house is probably close to a million dollars if not more, depending where it's located.

[–]TinkerDamn 1 point2 points ago

I think he was talking about the pool itself.

[–]destinys_parent 2 points3 points ago

Thats cute. Some family friends added a fancy pool to their backyard. It had a slide and a water fountain. Its not nearly as fancy as this.. and it cost 80 grand. This would definitely cost a lot more.

[–]WiredEarp 2 points3 points ago

More like 200 grand.

[–]GonadTheBallbarian -1 points0 points ago

Get rich, buy this house w/pool. throw parties in the basement and pay hot bitches to swim naked in the pool for hours on end.

[–]destinys_parent 0 points1 point ago

Wow. This motivated me to get off my ass and start working.

[–]EminGH 0 points1 point ago

Don't worry, an ordinary job won't pay for this.

[–]Rhymesayers21 -2 points-1 points ago

is it me seeing it wrong but couldn't you get trapped under the glass and drown

[–]mochuelo 3 points4 points ago

It is open at the top like a normal pool, but it has an "infinity" edge where the water overflows and spills into the rocks around the side of the glass, where I'm sure that water then drains into a filter and goes back into the pool. If you look close, you can see the wet rocks around the edge where the water is spilling over.

[–]artied 0 points1 point ago

For anyone who doesn't realise that these are fake.....

check out the pool's steps...

they are oriented differently in the 2 photos......

[–]RubNTuggernuts -2 points-1 points ago

These two pics are not of the same pool. The stairs are in contradicting locations and the number of steps is different.

[–]Michael_Pitt -1 points0 points ago
