I see this a lot in my neighborhood. They probably bought a second one for parts. It's usually hard to tell them apart, but they'll be driving the one with the nicer rims.

Endeavour on the left, Atlantis on the right.

Did anyone else notice that Endeavour is spelled with the British English spelling instead of the American English spelling Endeavor? And it is right under the American flag? I honestly never noticed that before.

It's named after the HMS Endeavour.

What is that cover over the engines of the Endeavor? What is it's purpose? I've seen it when the shuttles are riding piggyback on NASA's 747, is it just to help with aerodynamics?

[–]ZankerH 1 point2 points ago

Precisely. It reduces the drag somewhat. Despite the wings, the Space Shuttle Orbiter basically has the approximate aerodynamic properties of a brick.

Yep, and it lands like one. Falling with style. And no second chances.

This image is super powerful for me for some reason.

Unfortunately, most people won't really understand what this photo is all about

Techincally they're nose-to-pushback tractor-to-pushback tractor-to-nose.

The boy's pheromone levels suggest he wants to mate with the female.
