I feel like this might be a good time for me to post these photographs. I found them in a friends' old house, and was wondering if anyone knew what they might be from.

I can't imagine I would ever respect this man any less by seeing an unflattering picture of him simply due to the amount of good he did for the world. But seeing these fantastic shots does none the less increase admiration and cause me to feel greatly happy for the life that he led :)

I took a "transducer theory" class in college in which we modeled the output of a mechanical (acoustic) energy system with corresponding electrical components.

Shortly afterwards in another class, my prof was explaining some finer point of EFM (encoding CD's) and was putting up tables of 1's and 0's. I was trying to just keep my eyes up on the board and copy the numbers, but I was accomplishing nothing but chicken scratch. In frustration, I stared down at my paper so I could actually write IN the lines. Then I realized I was copying the table down perfectly because I could hear if his whiteboad marker went "eee!" (1) or "eee-oooh!" (0).

EDIT: I should really get around to learning morse code.

I know this phrase is overused, but

Care to provide a counter example? He cheated on both wives. He refused to have anything to do with his children. Letters found show that he viewed at least one of his wives as more of a servant and nursemaid than a spouse.

Can you provide anything that would suggest he was not an asshole?

Read the "contract" he made with his first wife. Also, he briefly entertained taking on his second wife's daughter as a wife instead but she wasn't physically attracted to him and was 18 years younger, so he settled for his cousin.

The daughter was conceived before his marriage with Mileva. Also, the knowledge of a daughter wasn't even known until many years after Einsteins death. As far as I know, it was a guess as to her death but is believed to be scarlet fever and she (Lieserl) died at Mileva's parents estate when the parents thought the child was retarded. I think she (Lieserl) was thought to have Down syndrome at birth.

The daughter was just normally ill, I forget with what, but it was one of those baby sicknesses that aren't around anymore. She either died or was given up for adoption before she was two. Nobody knows for sure. Einstein and his first wife kept the whole thing a secret because they weren't married yet. They had two more sons and then a bitter divorce that separated and estranged him from them. One son developed schizophrenia and was institutionalized. Einstein never saw him again since he didn't return to Europe after the Nazis gained power.

He ended up marrying his first cousin, who acted more as a mother to him, and he had many, many affairs which she seemed to mostly be aware of.
