It's based of the Slenderman Mythos. The game itself is pretty basic in that, all you are doing is tracking down 8 pages whilst he chases you. There is no origin to it.

Just because one person finds something scary, does not mean that they are retarded, I am sure you probably have irrational fears whether you are willing to admit it or not. There is more to 'Slender' then just the game. He does in fact strike fear in the hearts of some.
