A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports). "Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

"Generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission.

and you posted what I hope is a loading screen

[–]NiteShadeX2 10 points11 points ago

It gives me a Dule Nukem Forever vibe. I just have a bad feeling it'll be too much nudity and swearing, too little good gameplay.

[–]7RED7 3 points4 points ago

Wait. That isn't the gameplay?

[–]NiteShadeX2 9 points10 points ago

Unfortunately no. There's a fine line between good writing and overdoing it. Deadpool needs to be more insane, less immature. If done in moderation, and with a healthy dose of funny one liners and snappy comebacks, it could work out beautifully. If boob jokes and cursing is literally ALL Deadpool says, its going to wear on the player's nerves very quickly.

I remain hopefull that it will be the deadpool we want, IIRC they've got the guy who writes the main deadpool comic series doing the script

[–]Garrickus 1 point2 points ago

I was just watching this gif cycle thinking the same thing. If this deadpool game has a set system of him making wise-cracks every two minutes I can see it being put down pretty quickly. If, however, I'm allowed to take someone walking down the street, jam their head in a car window and drop a brick on the gas I'l be pretty pleased.

Also, if Al isn't in it I'll flip my shit.

[–]7RED7 1 point2 points ago

But that's the thing. Deadpool doesn't care about the player's nerves. If the game is to be realistic then Deadpool is aware of the player and will resist the attempts to control him through game inputs. The entire game should be Wade resisting the player and trying to escape by wearing out the players nerves.

Deadpool can die 20 times in a row to a boss if he wants to. He can outlast the player in pretty much everything and will use that to frustrate the player and force them to deal on his terms.

Deadpool also has the ability to unpause the game and run off to watch Golden Girls or get himself blown up whenever the interaction with the player becomes uninteresting.

If Deadpool reaches an impasse with the player then he will teleport back to his apartment, download 100 GB of Granny Porn, and sit through all of it just to spite them.

I think you're forgetting just how immature Wade can actually be.

As interesting as that would be for a 4th wall mechanic, I dont see Deadpool resisting a player as being particularly fun. One of the features you hope for in a videogame is control. When a game gives the player poor control, it does nothing but cause frustration. The game is described as "Deadpool+Arkham City", well I would hate for Batman to unpause randomly and get himself killed.

[–]7RED7 0 points1 point ago

Then it would be easier to simply find a Deadpool skin and dialog mod for Arkham City.

There is a large difference between poor control and artistic license in the extent of control granted. If the situation in question were put in place then the controls offered to the player for interacting with the character can still be smooth and very well done, in addition to having a solid control scheme for direct manipulation of the character. Exploring new methods in control is what keeps gaming fresh.

I think a game where the player takes on the role of either the audience which the character interacts with, or some external power seeking to control the character's will, and is responded to in-character, would be very entertaining as well as a nice break from the run-of-the-mill 3rd person superhero circlejerk.

This exactly- I wouldn't get my hopes up for this game if I were you, I don't really think Activision is capable of producing a good game. Even if it is good all of the best lines and funniest bits will be spammed so hard you'll grow to hate it.

Dat ass

[–]killaudio66 5 points6 points ago

I learned from a GameStop employee. He told me after he saw my dead pool shirt. I shrieked like a little school girl in my head

[–]CreamKittea 2 points3 points ago

And suddenly I thought of Deadpool pole dancing Bayonetta style.

[–]fusionedd 3 points4 points ago

Still canon

[–]BobertBilliam 1 point2 points ago

Better graphics than activision will give us

[–]Garrickus 5 points6 points ago

Let's hope it's better than that shitty Deadpool movie which had it's script leaked.

[–]MrPopoz 1 point2 points ago

From what I've read the game is going to be in 3rd person view and is going to be fucking awesome.

[–]iwillPWNyou 1 point2 points ago

My reading suggests an Arkham City-esque game style

[–]samsaBEAR 0 points1 point ago

Rocksteady could develop a game for every superhero going and as long as it retained the same combat mechanics and brilliant writing I would buy them every time they came out

[–]iwillPWNyou 0 points1 point ago

I don't think rocksteady is developing this one, I think it's just using the same stylings. Dark environment with the character being himself (in the best of ways) and seamlessly entering and exiting combat. Based on the trailer the combat system definitely has similarities to Arkham City.

[–]samsaBEAR 0 points1 point ago

Ah I was under the impression that Rocksteady was making it, I don't know where I got that from. Still, my original statement still stands!

[–]iwillPWNyou 1 point2 points ago

I can't argue it either. The Arkham games were true works of art in both innovation and story telling (major ass Ending) R.I.P Joker

[–]samsaBEAR 0 points1 point ago

According to this the next game could be a sequel, so I assume they killed him off so Warner Bros didn't make them do a third and potentially 'ruin' the series

[–]iwillPWNyou 0 points1 point ago

A game I will be proud to purchase if and when it's released. I wasn't saying anything bad about the series I'm actually a huge fan (platinum trophies on both games).

[–]samsaBEAR 0 points1 point ago

Yeah for sure, they've both got that beautiful medium between being a stealth game and an action game. You can play the game how you want (bar bosses) and that makes me happy

[–]iwillPWNyou 0 points1 point ago

yep, kind of a feeling of power..."hmmm...these henchmen, I deem death" then promptly destroy them

[–]OptimusDimebag 2 points3 points ago

This picture has nothing to do with gaming, check the sidebar and delete this post.

[–]V2Blast[M] -1 points0 points ago

Correct.

[–]lordofALLsquirrels -1 points0 points ago

The post serves to inform and spark discussion about an upcoming game, enticing people into the comment section better than a text post would, especially since the upvotes it gets will push it upward. In the spirit of the sidebar, I'm going to say "Allowed".

[–]V2Blast[M] 1 point2 points ago

That is not how the rules work. If he wanted to inform and spark a discussion, he could have made a self-post.

[–]lordofALLsquirrels 0 points1 point ago

Well I defer to your judgement on it, it's not my call. But my opinion still stands. Wouldn't have found out about the game today if he hadn't posted, or if it was a self post buried in new.

[–]OptimusDimebag 0 points1 point ago

You aren't a mod, I don't care if you think it's allowed. If you want to spark discussion about a game, start a self post.

[–]lordofALLsquirrels -1 points0 points ago

Hmm just checked and you aren't a mod either, so why should we care that you think it should be deleted? Guess only mods can make a case about it either way then?

[–]OptimusDimebag 0 points1 point ago

A mod replied to my comment, telling me I am correct. Kindly shut the fuck up.

[–]Mushroomer 1 point2 points ago

I.... can't stop watching.

[–]jakb001 1 point2 points ago

I just came.

[–]AnkhOmega -3 points-2 points ago

Where'd ya hear this? And share the details!

[–]Paclac 10 points11 points ago

[–]AnkhOmega 0 points1 point ago

Oh hell to the yes.

[–]Sneezes_Loudly -2 points-1 points ago

Wow, the interpretation of deapool in the trailer seems plain obnoxious. To me, deadpool is all about being an asshole, but with style, this guy doesn't have style, he's just another AAA meatneck disguised in a bit of lycra.

[–]zanarh -1 points0 points ago

Oh. My. God.
