Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

It looks like they're interviewing him.

Shark: Yeah, I like swimming, especially with my dorsal fin just out of the water. It helps me find food, strikes fear into anyone who sees it, aaaaand it's a great way to stay in shape.

damnitttt, beat me to it

I kinda miss that show

[–]Rottendog 6 points7 points ago

Why would you be outside the cage in an instance like this?!

[–]bassboat1 6 points7 points ago

I'd give new meaning to "Wetsuit"

[–]Rottendog 3 points4 points ago

Actually that's just how you keep warm.

[–]wildpeaches 6 points7 points ago

I think sharks are so amazing. And deadly. Which, despite my love of the ocean and diving into deep water, I stay in lakes. Cuz I don't want to be eaten.

[–]MrxPeaches 1 point2 points ago

Lakes are cool except for bull sharks which i think are the most aggressive and will fully eat you if they are hungry.

[–]wildpeaches 1 point2 points ago

The lake I go to isn't deep enough for bull sharks. I checked. I know for a fact the scariest thing in my local lake are trout. Well....possibly leeches are scarier than trout.

[–]MrxPeaches 8 points9 points ago

Leeches suck :)

Don't forget about those amoebas that get up inside your sinuses and then eat your frontal lobe.

[–]slurred_bird 2 points3 points ago

Only 5-10 people worldwide are killed yearly by sharks...

[–]trident_84 1 point2 points ago

Actually numbers are on the rise, especially at La Réunion...

[–]dropkickninja 30 points31 points ago

because you killed steve irwin. so fuck you.

[–]Mr_Sorter 2 points3 points ago

He was beating a fucking crocodiles and this little shit killed him, that just makes it even sadder.

[–]Lucifersamtaco 2 points3 points ago

What killed him was an extremely well aimed barb through the heart, or aorta.

[–]dropkickninja 0 points1 point ago

Well... Extremely unluckily placed.. .

[–]Rottendog 2 points3 points ago

I've been stung by a ray before. Hurts like fucking hell.

[–]MajorAnubis 2 points3 points ago

Same, stepped on a baby under the sand in Mexico, barb curled up and got me through my Achilles Tendon, almost slicing it right in half. Went in one side, came out the other. The pain was the worst I've ever felt in my life and before someone asks NO you do not pee on those... thats a sea urchin. A Ray sting/stab you need warm water and a few table spoons of vinegar. For hours I was in writhing pain, that no pill could help, nor could the needle in my ass cheek for pain. Yet within the first 3 seconds of submerging the injury in warm vinegar-water, it was absolutley numb. Left it for about 2 minutes and throughout you could see trickles of blood and toxic being pulled out. Didn't hurt me for the rest of my trip (happened in the morning of Day1/7), yet I was stitched up, bandaged, in a wheel chair for 4 days then on a cane for 3. So it goes to show sometimes the easiest solutions are the best.

Edited for one letter of smelling :P

[–]Rottendog 0 points1 point ago

This is almost exactly what happened to me, only mine didn't put me in a wheel chair, but i did limp for a couple days.

I was told to put in water almost hotter than you can stand + vinegar. I had been writhing in pain for hours prior to that, within about 5 minutes the pain dropped to a dull throb. Whoever figured that trick out has my thanks!

[–]MajorAnubis 1 point2 points ago

Crazy stuff eh?

[–]TbroOnline 0 points1 point ago

rays and skates are closely related to sharks, maybe they'll give them at least an hour http://www.globio.org/glossopedia/article.aspx?art_id=47

[–]TheLoneHoot 3 points4 points ago

Wow. I'm not sure if it's that she's closer to the camera or really that huge, or maybe a little of both. Either way, an impressive creature.

Is this the same gal seen earlier this week on the front page with all the scars?

[–]Devanismyname 2 points3 points ago

That shark has been in a few fights.

[–]MiggySawdust 1 point2 points ago

What's the story here? Anyone know what this is from?

Also, I keep thinking about who is taking the photo.

[–]Revoker 0 points1 point ago

which one?

the shark or the divers outside of the cage?

[–]INomYou 0 points1 point ago

Bucket list activity. The very very end of the list, right after "don't die completing your bucket list"

[–]sailingonward 0 points1 point ago

So.... how do they not, you know... not get eaten?

[–]trident_84 2 points3 points ago

If sharks, especially great whites, perceive you as prey, they will come from where you can´t see them. From below or behind. This one might just be curious. It´s another story though if the shark has been attracted with blood and all...

[–]darius_grey 0 points1 point ago

I believe her name is Scar Girl.

[–]trident_84 0 points1 point ago

What a beast!

[–]bigcappa 0 points1 point ago

Best way to dive with one(If you are in the America's).

[–]gimmebeer 0 points1 point ago

Nope.

[–]circular_file 1 point2 points ago

For some reason, I am not sure why, I find this picture to be beautiful to the point of being emotionally painful. There are so many conflicting feelings, among others: the creature should be revered, the contrast between the savagery of life and the relative perfection we've created for our species at the cost of so many other cohabitants, that something that's survived literally without aid is rendered an amusement or novelty.. there are many more things, but these are the few that swim to the surface.
Just beautiful.

[–]roiperez 0 points1 point ago

I've been diving with sharks, it's great!

[–]MrYamaguchi 0 points1 point ago
