No, that first part was pretty damn spot on. When I was young, most people essentially just told me to shut up and that I was annoying. So, I stopped talking as much as possible and learned to listen. Now, in most conversations I slip on my words (not stutter, but my mind goes quicker than my mouth), so I do as you say and just observe as much as possible so I can stock a few phrases in my head before I talk to someone. And by then, they're gone.

But seriously, you're advice helped. I keep telling myself to just get into what they're passionate about, but considering most of my knowledge lies in physics, math and video games, there isn't much to talk about usually. I also make little to no effort to meet other people, so it's always my friends introducing me to people.

have you every thought of getting help? you obviously have social anxiety and low dosage of anti anxiety and/or antidepressants could help. two years of those plus so support I've asked girls out, date, and have had sex even.

Antidepressants haven't worked for me. They make me drowsy, have extra sleep paralysis, night terrors, and other stuff. I've been to a therapist, but that didn't help either.
