That back story posted is wrong. He was doing a split s but didn't give himself enough room because he didn't account for local elevation vs. sea level elevation.

You are right though, Honestybomb, he managed to steer it away from the people and cars at the last second.

It was pretty scary to watch. You see all these awesome stunts and you are watching him get closer and closer and you just get that feeling in your gut that something isn't right-

It looks as though he stayed in for a while to get the plane away from the mass of parked cars there. It could just be perspective, but it seems as though it's going down in an open area and there are nothing but people in the background.
