Magikarp used a splash before being hit, his sash activates and he proceeds to 1hko everything with flail.

But anything with trick room and flail will work, no? You use that instead of a splash/whatever before being hit. Not sure of this.

Anyways other pokemons like Feebas have double speed and flail.

But it is a one-trick pony. We get the joke, but pretty much any competitive team has somebody with priority moves. Also, It would be kind of a strange set-up because Drizzle/Swift Swim is not allowed, so you'd have to predict and/or waste a turn using Rain Dance to even take "advantage" of Magikarp's ability.

Trick room and flail only really works if you assume that none of your opponents Pokémon are really slow as well. I think double speed/flail is more reliable.

Honestly that's not a legitimate strategy. It's gimmicky and the only reason it worked in this video is because the guy's opponent was absolutely horrible. It's so easily countered by, quite honestly, basic basic strategy. usually have entry hazards, this would have broken the focus sash and ruined it. Having any sort of pokemon with a priority attack too. It's just a bad strategy...

Yeah it's going to be tough with what you said earlier, like entry hazards and priority moves. There's countless other ways to stop this, such as Ninetales, Pokemon with Cloud Nine as an ability, ghost types...

For such an idiotic strategy, he should have just given the 'Karp a choice scarf... or possibly a better Pokemon choice scarf.

He uses his first Pokemon to hold him off while he lays down a few moves that will make it so when the opponent brings in his other Pokemon, it will do damage.

The Magikarp has an item that limits it so it will live with 1 HP instead of dying on that first attack.

Magikarp also has a move that will do insane amounts of damage if he is at 1 HP. It appears his speed is maxed too.

Now just in case you're wondering how to counter this strategy, you just need anyone with a priority attack (such as quick attack) or something that changes the weather into sandstorm (so you can do 1 damage to the magikarp and kill it)

I replayed the HG after beating the old ones as a kid.

I can't believe how much more user friendly it is. As a kid I remember spending a couple hours trying to do basic tasks.

Okay, some people don't like Black and White because of some certain pokemon designs, and I get that. Trubbish is an abomination.

But hear me out: Black and White is pokemon evolved.

It's a new introduction to the world, bringing back the feeling of discovery that gamers had in Red and Blue due to the absence of familiar faces, and an introduction to a style of pokemon game that will hopefully prevail: Story Based Pokemon Games.

For the first time in the series, Black and White make the story something you actually care about. For once, the story is a bigger motivator than the "glory" of beating the elite four. Unlike other pokemon games, I actually felt fulfilled upon finishing the story and seeing the credits roll (and believe me when I say that those credits could be the single greatest event in Pokemon history).

I know some people hate it when people bring this up, citing Famitsu as a biased reviewer, but Pokemon Black and White Versions are the first in the series to receive a perfect 40/40 and one of only 19 games to receive the honor.

TL;DR Yes Trubbish and the Ice Cream pokemon suck, but they don't stop Black and White from being one of the best Pokemon games out there (if not the best.)

inb4 people discrediting the Famitsu score because of Bayonetta, Kid Icarus, and Skyrim.

P.S. yes I know my sentence organization sucks.

Grimer is a fucking puddle of sludge. What does that puddle of sludge evolve into? A bigger puddle of sludge.

Voltorb looks like a Poke Ball. Okay, kind of clever, no problem there. But the evolution? A motherfucking upside down Poke Ball?

There's others, but eventually I'll devolve into nitpicking. It don't matter. None of this matters.

The pokémon animations and things like having a "sleep animation" really make it feel more involved too. Spent 3 days playing through black and went back on leaf green, felt like I was fighting cardboard cut outs.

In Crystal and every game Emerald+, pokémon had an animation when they left the pokéball. However, in BW, Pokémon are constantly animated throughout the battle, constantly moving, blinking and whatnot. If they're put to sleep, their eyes close and their movements become more subdued.

They're constantly moving when idle, when they sleep their eyes close and they slump a bit. Some attacks make them animate too, some electric type pokemon have bits glow yellow when charging an attack and stuff. It's not comprehensive but makes it much better imo.

HGSS had some pretty cool features. You could get your pokémon to walk around with you (a la Pikachu in Yellow), and you could toggle running so you didn't have to hold down the B button, but those features weren't in BW because they were developed at the same time and some features from one didn't make it into the other.

I'm pretty sure all of them have it except Black and White doesn't have it until the after-game IIRC. The reason it's so bad is because when you catch it, it only knows one move and that move does virtually nothing. The only other move it learns is flail which isn't a very good move and by then your just about to get Gyrados which is the only reason to catch a Magikarp. That's the exact opposite of what this info graph says and that's what makes it funny.

If you don't have a gba or don't want to use emulators soul silver/heart gold on the DS were fantastic remakes of arguably the best generation (Gen 2).

Fire Red for gba (or on an emulator on your phone) is a great remake. I'd suggest playing on an emulator so you can take advantage of built in gameshark functionality. Not to cheat on the beginning of the game but to make leveling new teams and experimentation in the post game a lot quicker (who wants to spend 5 hours EV training and fighting the elite 4 on repeat x6 Pokemon just to try out that experimental team comp you're working on??)

And if you really want to get fresh, I heard the black/white games (On DS/DSi?) were totally redesigned from the ground up as a new adventure and were great games. I'm just partial to the old school designs of Gen 1 Gen 2.

Depends on what Nintendo handhelds you have. Do you have a DS? A 3DS?

I recommend buying a DS Lite (really cheap now) and getting heart-gold or soul-silver. Or you could get Black or White. The first two are more old-school, the second two are totally new-school. And they're all for the DS.

I would go with the other guys suggestions first Generation 3 has an enormous amount of polish. But you should also try Generation 4 (diamond/pearl/platinum) and Generation 5 (Black/White) They are both amazing and a lot of fun.

I was like you, except less european (i.e. too old to have experienced pokemon)I tried to play it get into it recently and really didn't like it. I'd never played any pokemon games before.

I get pokemon red (i think) on a game boy emulator. The start was cool, when i was walking around pallet town. I really liked the way everything was introduced.

But it really quickly turned into a massive grind-fest. I felt like i was just constantly shuffling through the grass repeating the same battles over and over again. I didn't get much past the first gym before getting bored with it. I haven't picked up the game again since.

Just my opinion.

Okay, so every document is an info graphic then? Information + graphics. Not jpegs with slammed wall of text. Info graphics takes data and makes it meaningful in a presented manner. The idea being you don't even have to read in detail it to get a base understanding of the model presented. Info graphics compress data in a meaningful way. They highlight naunces.
