Fucking Palestinian Chicken, just about the perfect episode of any sitcom ever.

[–]drballoonknot 61 points62 points ago

"Fuck me like the Jews fucked my people." One of the better episodes.

[–]meAndb 25 points26 points ago

"You occupying fuck!"

[–]nate0420 32 points33 points ago

Pretty.....pretty good.

[–]skinnymidwest 28 points29 points ago

Preeeeetay preeeetay preeeeetay...............pretty good.

[–]dome210 9 points10 points ago

One of the biggest threads this morning was the one about saying things that your favorite fictional characters say. Yup, this is mine.

[–]animalminimalism 4 points5 points ago

This agreed.

[–]Skoolz 93 points94 points ago

Fucking Curb Your Enthusiasm, just about the perfect sitcom of any sitcom ever.

[–]ImBeingSeriousHere 35 points36 points ago

Fucking emphasis on stuff because it's just that good.

Fucking stuff. You know you want it.

[–]ShallowBasketcase 13 points14 points ago

Fuck.

[–]thatissomeBS 7 points8 points ago

Certainly shows the versatility of the word.

[–]Badymaru 4 points5 points ago

Is it on netflix? I've been looking for another new sitcom to marathon.

[–]Skoolz 15 points16 points ago

No clue, but it IS on pirate bay...

[–]DeathToPennies 5 points6 points ago

It is SO FUCKING GOOD. You wouldn't happen to know when the new season is coming would you?

[–]Skoolz 2 points3 points ago

Actually, HBO doesn't even know. HBO and LD have this crazy deal where any time Larry wants to do a new season, HBO is down like syndrome. Seriously, he strolls along one day after a manager/agent/friend of some sort convinces him to do another, and at some point in time decides to do another. That's why it has taken 12 years to do just 8 seasons.

[–]coolcreep 8 points9 points ago

YARMULKE ALERT!

[–]HerderOfNerfs 4 points5 points ago

WE HAVE A YARMULKE DOWN!!

[–]weswhitman 4 points5 points ago

"YOU DROPPED YOUR YAMACHA!!"

[–]pffr 6 points7 points ago

Has anyone ever tried actual Palestinian chicken? I would have, but it was too expensive.. especially when a falafel and a Fanta is $1.25

[–]IamA_Big_Fat_Phony 10 points11 points ago

First off, who the fuck sells a single falafel that sick fuck?

Secondly, Zankou Chicken rules.

Thirdly, not sold at zankou, but grilled lamb steaks chopped and served on top a bed of hummus drizzled with olive oil with a basket of pita on the side is the single greatest dish ever made. Probably oldest too.

[–]daemon14 3 points4 points ago

It's based off Zankou Chicken! It's alright ...

[–]Cptn_Sisko 4 points5 points ago

especially when a falafel and a Fanta is $1.25

Where the hell do you live that you can get a falafel and a Fanta for $1.25?

[–]skakruk 6 points7 points ago

The fuck is this? I'm not from the US.

[–]Bears_vs_Wizards 26 points27 points ago

Pretty much the funniest show that's ever existed starring one of the funniest men that's ever lived.

[–]skinnymidwest 12 points13 points ago

I know your Brits sense of humour, and Curb Your Enthusiasm is human humor. I think any human from any race, creed, sect, tribe can appreciate CYE.

[–]Snikz18 2 points3 points ago

as a person from the middle-east who watches this show on tv, i can confirm this

[–]davers84 12 points13 points ago

Curb Your Enthusiasm. One of the best sitcoms to ever grace television. That's Larry David, co-creator of Seinfeld - which is right up there with this show if you ask me.

[–]kwowo 3 points4 points ago

You don't have to be from the US to know about the second funniest show to air the past decade.

[–]xxtoejamfootballxx 137 points138 points ago

Einstein and Thomas Edison were dyslexic. Think what the world would be like if people were reluctant to give their ideas a chance because of grammatical and spelling errors.

[–]NotaMethAddict 120 points121 points ago

Dear god, did you just reference Edison, on Reddit?

[–]maate 92 points93 points ago

It's been 24 minutes and there's no mention of Telsa so far. This might be some kind of record.

[–]WorkWork 93 points94 points ago

Telsa

I think I see what you did there.

[–]muntoo 14 points15 points ago

IT'S A FREAKING CONSPIRACY. THEY'RE ALL EDISON FANS.

[–]curtdammit 10 points11 points ago

AC what you did there....

[–]slytherinspy1960 8 points9 points ago

and a few seconds later someone mentions him...still a record.

[–]Goodguy1066 27 points28 points ago

Edison is literally Karmanaut!

[–]hcnye 4 points5 points ago

Far and away worse than Hitler.

[–]xxtoejamfootballxx 8 points9 points ago

I'll just leave this here...

[–]NotaMethAddict 30 points31 points ago

[–]xxtoejamfootballxx 5 points6 points ago

I don't think this really argues against any of the points that have to do with edison having a major affect on the world. In fact it says "this is a fair point" on probably the most important point in the article regarding edison

[–]Dinewiz 6 points7 points ago

He TheOatmeal isn't arguing that Edison didn't have a major affect on the world, he is arguing that Edison was a douche bag.

[–]Platypuskeeper 4 points5 points ago

Plenty of outright wrong stuff in that response. How was Tesla 'absolutely critical'? Dolivo-Dobrovolsky demonstrated a working polyphase system several years before Tesla worked on it. There were quite a number of working commercial AC plants/systems in Europe by the time Tesla/Westinghouse opened theirs Niagara in 1895. It was not even the first commercial AC system in the US, that goes to Almirian Decker's Redlands plant in California. The first demonstration system in the US was created by William Stanley, Jr in 1886.

So how were Tesla's contributions "absolutely essential"? Because Westinghouse gave him a sweet royalty deal because he had a patent? He patented a lot of stuff, some of them well after other people had invented and published them. (e.g. Ferraris three-phase motor design, which he provably published before Tesla patented it. The only basis for claiming that Tesla invented it first is basically because Tesla said so)

Tesla was a huge self-promoter (and quite similar to Edison in that regard), a guy who took full credit for things he knew damn well that other people had made important contributions to (if he wasn't outright ripping them off), a nut (although the Oatmeal agrees there), and a patent troll.

And somehow he's an "Unsung hero"? The only unsung hero with a friggin' SI unit named after him, his face on the currency of his home country, not to mention a full-blown circlejerk among people who have no clue who Steinmetz or the other guys I just mentioned were, or what they did.

Did Tesla make important contributions that were undoubtedly his own? Yes. But would DC have won the "War of the Currents" without him? Absolutely not. AC would always have won. It may have been a minority of electrical engineers in the US (not Europe) at that time who were pursuing AC, but it was far from Tesla alone. Forbes was entirely correct in pointing out that the "War of the Currents" never really existed in Europe, or even outside of the northeast US. The "war", Edison vs Tesla, GE vs Westinghouse, is a dumbed-down media narrative.

[–]Leezus 10 points11 points ago

In other words, they were both human.

Jesus, is this guy trying to write an article, or win Miss America?

[–]muntoo 4 points5 points ago

He just likes stating the obvious.

[–]jcbkmk13 5 points6 points ago

Most modern biographers of Einstein believe that he was not dyslexic.

[–]Adm_Chookington 0 points1 point ago

Got a source for that? That honestly sounds like one of those "Einstein couldn't read until he was 12" kind of facts that your grandma sends you.

[–]iBrick 7 points8 points ago

Yeah - However, whenever someone writes "of" instead of "have" i assume he's done it on purpose and downvote his comment, even if it has the solution to all the world's problems in it.

[–]ZankerH 6 points7 points ago

Or, he could be Scottish and attempting to spell in Scots.

[–]iBrick 9 points10 points ago

The Scottish have been and will always be an acceptable collateral damage.

[–]Icanhazcomment 7 points8 points ago

In parts of England "of" is used a lot instead of "have" in regular conversation. That is how it ends up at Reddit.

Not everyone here is from the US and many users here have English as their second or third language so you cannot expect everyone to be perfect at it.

I try to overlook it and judge someone on the content of their post. If anything it gives more information about them.

[–]muntoo 8 points9 points ago

What? Do you of any examples?

[–]iBrick 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, but that's just english slang, I'm pretty sure they learn to write in school. English is a second language for me as well, btw, (which you can tell by my screwed up sentence structures sometimes). - You'll never see me whine about being corrected here, I consider it a free lesson and try to learn from it.

[–]NeuxSaed 9 points10 points ago

Uneducated native speakers make much different mistakes than educated non-native speakers. It's usually easy to tell the difference.

[–]JimboMonkey1234 3 points4 points ago

I don't think there are any reliable sources for Einstein being dyslexic.

[–]saiyanhajime 4 points5 points ago

It doesn't matter, the point is that you don't have to be excellent at grammar to have great ideas.

[–]PrimeIntellect 3 points4 points ago

not to mention that, gasp not everyone on the internet is American, or even speaks english as a first language.

[–]TrollErgoSum 289 points290 points ago

Have you ever been so far even as decided to use go want to look more like?

[–]Vianim 180 points181 points ago

You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. It’s just common sense. Video game companies have made a real effort to make their games as realistic as possible, without them we would not have simulators.

[–]Cobblestone_Rancher 162 points163 points ago

Yeah, man, people -- they dont think it be like it is, but it do.

[–]MetaDecay[S] 26 points27 points ago

[–]Skoolz 24 points25 points ago

Still, after years of technological improvements in the film industry along with leniency for violence, this is one of the most gruesome decapitations of all time.

[–]Zeugirdor994 18 points19 points ago

Because it's real blood and gore. That scene was set up using a fake head and several purchased livers, which were then blown apart from behind with a shotgun

[–]Amunium 9 points10 points ago

What's it from?

[–]dormetheus 8 points9 points ago

Scanners. Cronenberg is pretty famous for his gore

[–]RSOB_Bass 1 point2 points ago

Scanners, it's a movie.

Upvoting when this image has been on the front page every other day.

I don't actually have a reaction gif for this because I did not upvote it.

[–]burritoman12 18 points19 points ago

Upvoting when the meme is a repost, but the context is fresh....

[–]doubleohnodj 44 points45 points ago

Upvoted solely for LD

[–]Skoolz 3 points4 points ago

No one can deny Larry David's brilliance as a writer, and now, as we have first discovered in the year 2000 (2 years after his behind the scenes claim to fame), his brilliance as an actor.

As I slowly get balder and balder, I look to Larry as a role model and no longer care about my impending cephalic cul-de-sac.

[–]32Ash 3 points4 points ago

Just if you dont' knew, is no reason two not comment.

[–]takes-you-seriously 11 points12 points ago

I just tell myself that they are typing second-language English and that this explains their grammatical lapses.

[–]Icanhazcomment 6 points7 points ago

Me too. You can tell when someone makes an honest mistake and most people overlook it.

If anything having the top comment pointing out a simple grammar mistake which starts a circlejerk annoys me more.

You are not some special snowflake who was the only one to spot the mistake. If most people understood the post then it also wont add anything to the discussion and needs to be downvoted instead of upvoted according to reddit's voting system.

[–]DazzaChuth 2 points3 points ago

*I can have a comment?

[–]bvanman 5 points6 points ago

I'd go with the Palestinian chicken.

[–]western_shmoobris 4 points5 points ago

Upvoting when the grammar is brilliant but the gif is excruciatingly awkward in that patently Jewish manner but without a laugh track and at the expense of everyone and everything.

But seriously it's actually a great show, albeit in measured doses.

[–]Jaller 2 points3 points ago

But what if the comment is brilliant because the grammar is awful?

[–]MalHeartsNutmeg 4 points5 points ago

I found a little trick to figure out whether they're creeps or not: They are.

[–]bvanman 2 points3 points ago

My friends and I give this face to each other when someone says something that is borderline bullshit.

[–]manbro 6 points7 points ago

yeah i hate when people violate a completely arbitrary standard of intelligence even when i can easily understand what they're communicating

[–]yiajiipamu 1 point2 points ago

It's like watching skweezy jibbs some of the time.

[–]Tranger 1 point2 points ago

Hey just like mexican presidential elections.

[–]frostpop 1 point2 points ago

ah I recognize this guy... he's of that show "Intentionally Stupid with David Lawrence"... great show

[–]emp- 1 point2 points ago

can it be both?

[–]emmalein 1 point2 points ago

that gif is absolutely perfect

[–]shinoda88 0 points1 point ago

Not everybody on this planet can speak or write perfect english. Just remember this.

[–]ChodeLife 2 points3 points ago

[–]devosion 1 point2 points ago

I love this episode, and I still want to see what her sister looks like.

[–]GiantKanen 0 points1 point ago

[–]F-Stop 2 points3 points ago

I've never had HBO, but I'm catching up on Curb right now. Into Season 5. My friend says "Wait until you get to Meet the Blacks".

[–]IgotNukes 1 point2 points ago

Sometimes i tend to upvote a comment that doesn't make any sense, but in my head i redo the meaning and still upvote it.

[–]jonnnnnnnnnnnnnnny 1 point2 points ago

I guess I'll give an upvote...it was pretay...pretay...pretay good

[–]BobbyDewese 0 points1 point ago

How about when the title of the post doesn't use an ending punctuation mark, but it makes you laugh, and you feel like Larry did in that GIF, and you upvote

Does the preceding need a question mark or a period?

Edit: Maybe a 'Yada, Yada, Yada...'

[–]SergeantSkizz 1 point2 points ago

This is really the top post of the front page? What's happened to you, reddit?

[–]hamoffthebone 1 point2 points ago

upvotes for larry.

[–]Captain_Sparky 2 points3 points ago

video context? I've never seen Curb Your Enthusiasm and I'm really curious what's being protested that would even cause that amazing expression.

[–]faisal7 2 points3 points ago

he makes expressions like that through out the whole series. that's his character role.

[–]BPsandman84 2 points3 points ago

There's a Palestinian Chicken joint that Larry's pro Israeli friends are protesting because they are Anti-Israeli. Meanwhile, on the Palestinian Chicken side, is a woman with whom Larry was having a fling with. Both sides are pressuring Larry to join one of them, and the episode ends with Larry deciding whether he should join his friends or the Palestinian side so he can continue to get laid.

[–]abbazaba7 1 point2 points ago

but those honeycombs sure are pretty...

[–]gknightmusic 2 points3 points ago

instant upvote for Larry.

It's like you know me, man: like you know what's in my soul.

[–]ghostiegirl 1 point2 points ago

I always pretend that they just had a mental breakout but are pushing through by writing witty or thought provoking comments, so I excuse the grammar and/or spelling.

[–]lejefferson 2 points3 points ago

I can't tell you how much joy this brought to my soul. It was so perfect.

[–]staticmm 2 points3 points ago

Holy crap hvnt watched CYE in so much long time ; Lerry Daved marathon for me, I have all the seasonses... thanks for reminding me I love this show.

[–]Electricbassguy 1 point2 points ago

How about poor comments with excellent grammar?

[–]contramantra 2 points3 points ago

You gotta get in that ass, and downvote all over the place, Larry.

[–]Dantayl 1 point2 points ago

Frankly, there are too many that are pedantic about peoples grammar on Reddit. You can see a perfectly logical and well written comment posted, yet the top upvoted comment replying to it is someone correcting the spelling. It comes across as so dismissive and pretentious that it shows that people are so uninterested in the original comment, they'd rather pay attention to the perfectly human mistakes they've made.

[–]ImBesideYou 1 point2 points ago

Nice choice of .gif ! I am always wondering what to do in these situations haha!

[–]treycook 8 points9 points ago

When in doubt, just feign excitement! Haha!

[–]keesh 0 points1 point ago

lol this is a good advice!

[–]Snookerman 4 points5 points ago

I disagree. You should be upvoting/downvoting based on the content, not the presentation. Many people here don't have English as their first language.

Also, think about the situation being reversed: the comment is awful but the grammar is perfect. You would probably downvote without any hesitation.

Unless the comment is incomprehensible, grammar shouldn't matter.

[–]SarcophAGus 0 points1 point ago

Where's your period? Meh, upvote.

[–]chareth_cutestory66 1 point2 points ago

It's a title, smugbro. And a period would make it a sentence fragment.

  • "I was being facetious."

No you weren't.

[–]fritzenkraut 0 points1 point ago

me brilliant and wants karma but no native speaker.

[–]sogladtobehere 1 point2 points ago

Is Neanderthal your first language?

[–]fritzenkraut 2 points3 points ago

i yes.

[–]MarcosElMentiroso 1 point2 points ago

I hope you realize that your title lacks a period.

[–]ezebonix 2 points3 points ago

Technically, it would need a colon.

[–]elliya -1 points0 points ago

You know, some of us are not native english speakers.

[–]timmaeus 1 point2 points ago

[–]MPair-E 1 point2 points ago

Now that this is at the top of page one, I'm bummed OP didn't risk a couple grammatical errors in his/her headline. That's some meta shit.

[–]JDKonreddit 1 point2 points ago

[–]lotsofyousuck 1 point2 points ago

you forgot your period man, no upvote

[–]sogladtobehere 0 points1 point ago

You forgot a period too, man. No upvote for you.

[–]Potter_Fan1 1 point2 points ago

[–]ohirony 1 point2 points ago

Reddit:

Where the titles are made up and the reposts don't matter.

[–]Virzy 1 point2 points ago

Same goes for any good post with a crappy title.

[–]Brittsmac 0 points1 point ago

That is a hurt, but hurts me less than upvoting a interesting post or even picture with caption that all the comments are so off topic but voted up along with tangents NSFW.

[–]xJeromex 0 points1 point ago

[–]Catslapper 1 point2 points ago

I LOVE that episode of Curb

[–]PrimeIntellect 1 point2 points ago

sometimes the poor grammar is what makes it so hilarious

[–]kellykebab -1 points0 points ago

So tru.

[–]frankle 1 point2 points ago

For me this is like upvoting when the post is relatable, but not remotely funny.

[–]blade1982 0 points1 point ago

[–]MrNickDolan 1 point2 points ago

Reddit, stop abusing Larry David.
