To me, it seems like shit like that is equal to a placebo effect. You won't experience anything unless you believe in it. Same with aliens and the like for me. I'm positive that other intelligent life exists, but I highly doubt that they come here to abduct hicks.

Because people started to realize that none of the "true stories" were anything like the movies based off of them?

I just love the use of the word 'based'. Based on a true story, only the characters, plot and location have been altered.

There's a world of difference between BASED on a true story and INSPIRED BY a true story.

Excorcism was INSPIRED BY, as in it was inspired by a crazy girl, her crazy dad, and some crazy priest who exercised her crazy ass and they were all bat shit crazy.

And then the movie is made to dramatize the happening so it can be marketed. Cus I mean, who wants to buy a regular old Christian snuff film.
