they...like to snuggle. A few years ago my dog found one in our backyard. He assumed it was something akin to our guinea pig, I think, and was trying to give it kisses. You should hear the unholy shrieking noise they make when they're stressed! After I chased the dog into the house I went back to make sure the poor little guy wasn't hurt. He wouldn't move so I figured I would pet his head (because at the time the idea that he might have some form of disease didn't cross my mind) and when I stopped he looked up at me like "why did you stop?". He finally took off when I gave him a little shove in the butt. Cute little bugger. Didn't have any gardens for him to eat. Apparently they're pretty territorial so I don't know how you've managed to get several.

If you need to get rid of them a cheap and environmentally friendly way to kill them is by chewing bubble gum then sticking it in their holes.

Attach a hose to the exhaust of your car. Push the other end into one of their tunnels in the ground. The exhaust will fill the network of underground tunnels and they will die humanely. Also you will not have to deal with the dead bodies.

star nosed moles are adorable, don't judge. haha. you should try and move them to another area or call the local animal shelter on what to do maybe they can have someone relocate them for you. it's not fair they don't know it's your garden :(

I had those in my yard, cats might kill them, but my dogs definitely did. I watched my dog out back flipping something up in the air with it's mouth, essentially playing with this object, it ran up to me for me to throw it. I then realized my dog tracked down a mole and was playing with it's lifeless body. I had to play fetch with my dog so it would kill the others!
