Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

The subject is an amputee, but the wound is simulated. This is part of a project to help prepare troops before deployment for the atrocities they may face. Source.

I know you aren't disputing, but i will reiterate; Still a bad ass.

[–]al_fayadh 1 point2 points ago

Why is he a bad ass?

[–]Grudir 20 points21 points ago

This conversation ends well.

[–]Quizzelbuck 3 points4 points ago

He is staying true to what he joined up in to the military for. He has to be revisiting his trauma almost every time he puts on the make up and he is still serving his country even though his legs were blown off. A lot of men would hide from that.

[–]jimyin -1 points0 points ago

So this guy definitely lost his legs in war? And not say... a car accident? You know that for sure, right?

[–]Quizzelbuck -1 points0 points ago

Nope. I am making an assumption. I think the likely hood that the government found some one who was a career soldier who lost his legs and wanted to continue to serve is greater then the possibility they just grabbed a random unknown amputee who had never been a solder, seen war, or knew the pain of a battle amputation. So, you are right on calling me out. I am assuming all of what i just said.

No no no no no no no no no! This is not proper internet etiquette!

When someone corrects you or points out a flaw in your reasoning, you're supposed to reply with something like, "lol wut i fukt ur mom, u looser!". Please observe the proper protocol next time.

Battle amputation? Nevermind.

[–]Quizzelbuck 0 points1 point ago

i am assuming it was a battle related amputation.

[–]jimyin -3 points-2 points ago

I'm just going to assume you assume everything from here on in.

When I did these training events in Mojave Viper in 29 Palms CA, all the amputee actors that portrayed casualties were actual former military guys that had been genuinely injured in combat.

[–]4n6me -1 points0 points ago

I think FrankieBlack explains pretty well why this guy would be a badass. Although, daybreaker responds with a viable alternative...

[–]overweightanorexic 19 points20 points ago

An amputee in full makeup before role-playing a casualty during a run of the Medical Trauma Lane. He role-plays having his legs blown off in a Humvee explosion four times a day

[–]outofmytree 9 points10 points ago

I keep seeing the chair legs as protruding bones.

[–]BeardOfFury 16 points17 points ago

Smoking despite all the Surgeon General's warnings? He IS a badass.

[–]FrankieBlack 10 points11 points ago

I gotta say, what a strong mindset this man has...To be able to replace himself in, what is most probably the most traumatic event of his life, in order to teach others about the graveness of combat. That's something only very few can do.

[–]daybreaker 5 points6 points ago

Well, they dont say how he became an amputee... Maybe it wasnt from a war at all, but they just need people to help re-enact those scenes.

[–]Delvil -3 points-2 points ago

...uh-huh.

[–]jotux 10 points11 points ago

This is why you always leave a note!

[–]skyy_is_falling 2 points3 points ago

Any background in this?

[–]SKabanov 9 points10 points ago

Well, it's a re-post, for one.

As I recall, it's not "just off the battlefield". He's an amputee - and he's been "dressed up" to mimic a casualty in battlefield simulations so that recruits can get an idea of what somebody with their legs blown off in battle would look like.

[–]jimyin 0 points1 point ago

Leuitenant Dan!

[–]f0rcedinducti0n 0 points1 point ago

It's makeup.

Yeah--Smoking is so dangerous.

[–]donteatthecheese -1 points0 points ago

This is incredibly disturbing

[–]hefnetefne -3 points-2 points ago

More like the definition of atrocity.
