Last month there was an art exhibition in Milan. Some of the exhibits, collectively called ‘Piracy’, depicted some of the most iconic musical stars of the 20th century, hand crafted from CDRs. The stars – Elvis, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Jim Morrison and Freddy Mercury – are pictured dying after being “injected with a piracy virus”. According to the creators, the TBWA ad agency, they wanted to make a visual representation of how piracy kills artists.

      so I don't know if I'm reading this right but is the purpose of this campaign to be anti-piracy? It seems like they are trying to make the point that piracy is hurting artists. But all of the artists they are portraying are dead so I don't think it could hurt them in any way. If anything piracy lets those artists live on by making their music more accessible.

      still pretty cool though.

              As ridiculous and improbable as all of these things are, there is still a slight chance that under the right conditions these things will occur. All it takes is a large number of trials under different conditions.                 Yes, I remember going through this thought experiment in high school chemistry.

                The professor mixed two colored dyes together and pointed out that it was possible that they could be separated just by pouring half of it back into another container. Just highly improbable. With some basic math/chemistry we calculated the odds of this happening. As you can guess they were staggeringly low. That was the point of the lecture.

                He then posed an interesting thought-experiment. What if we were to repeat the trial once every minute for a very, very long period of time? How long would it be until our odds became at least non-negligible?

                What he demonstrated was that even if you repeated this experiment once a minute for the entire time the universe has existed (supposedly ~13.75 billion years) your odds of successfully pulling it off did not even appreciably increase.

                Put simply I hope you believe in reincarnation or something else cyclical time-wise because the length of the existence of the universe is insignificant next to the odds of what you intend to do.
