Can someone tell me if it's really worth all the trouble to get sit-rep pro? In mw2 it was a game changer for me. In mw3 the directional properties of sound just seem janky. Does sitrep pro fix this?

[–]specialdefects[r/eu] specialdefect5 3 points4 points ago

Definitely worth the trouble, since you now can hear Dead Silence users. Sit Rep Pro is considered by many to be overpowered due to this. Also, in MW2 footsteps were a lot crispier sounding than in MW3. But combine MW3's non linear map design (i.e. someone can be creeping behind or beside when you least expect it, at all times) with the much louder, more constant effects and you may have a little more difficult time discerning where someone is. This obviously depends on where you are on the map...

[–]schnuck[S] 1 point2 points ago

don't forget that you can also distinguish the surface the enemy player is walking on, and not just hear generic footsteps. this gives you an even more specific location of an incoming enemy, if you know your maps well.

[–]DIBO73 1 point2 points ago

Thanks. I am going to try and get it this prestige just to see if it makes a difference. I am already pretty decent at picking up the location of enemies but when things get really loud it can get tricky.

[–]leftygamerLeftyGamer 2 points3 points ago

I'm too dependent on Stalker. My Tritton's do suffice quite well though.

Maybe it's worth a shot.

[–]I_Love_ParkwayDriveIAMA Sniper. AMA. 2 points3 points ago

Nice. That is my last perk to Pro, but when I get it I'll probably replace marksman on my sniping class so I can hear behind me.

[–]BoneCarlos 6 points7 points ago

Yep, use Thermal optics with Sit-Rep for the best of both worlds.

[–]BoonTobiasBoonTobias 2 points3 points ago

Marksman is useless, I've been using sitrep since mw2. It takes a while to get pro but worth it. Hell, even stalker is way better than marksman

[–]I_Love_ParkwayDriveIAMA Sniper. AMA. 2 points3 points ago

I find it helpful, but too easy too counter. If it countered assassin pro on the other hand, fuck yea.

[–]imnotahick 1 point2 points ago

Marksman pro is too good to pass up on a sniper

[–]I_Love_ParkwayDriveIAMA Sniper. AMA. 4 points5 points ago

Unless they all run assassin.

[–]MonsterAddictMrsnuggles8 2 points3 points ago

2x breath hold time is helpful, depending on what type of sniper you are and what game mode you're playing.

[–]I_Love_ParkwayDriveIAMA Sniper. AMA. 2 points3 points ago

TDM, and actual hardscoping. And I run stability so that's helpful.

[–]imnotahick 1 point2 points ago

Still that double breath hold is perfect

[–]Alice_Dee 2 points3 points ago

Same goes for hearing someone from a mile away! You dont even need a decent headset for that. A simple stereoheadset is more than enough for getting started.

[–]schnuck[S] 0 points1 point ago

add to that you can also hear what ground they are stepping upon. if you know your maps well, you know exactly which stairs they are taking, if they are coming up or down, walking on wooden planks etc.

[–]Alice_Dee 1 point2 points ago

Yeah... but things like that take time. Slapping on some 200€ headset is not as good as people think it is... at first... took me 2 moths or something like that to learn how to soundwhore.

[–]schnuck[S] 0 points1 point ago

oh definitely, soundwhoring takes time to learn.

in the right (wrong?) hands, sitrep pro is killer.

[–]ReeColiReeColi 1 point2 points ago

I just use a shitty pair of Sony head phones plugged into my tv and I can hear them fine. Sound quality is shit, but the footsteps are SO LOUD.

[–]imnotahick 0 points1 point ago

You can still easily hear them without sit rep pro. That's why we have specialist tho

[–]HiaItsPeter 0 points1 point ago

I absolutely hate people who use this perk. Sit rep pro makes it where you can hear EVERYBODY around you and predict where and when the enemy will come out. Now, something I like to do is run around, and if someone on the other team using it they know where im at when im around then. And that is truthfully annoying when one of my perks is being completely useless. The perk cancels out dead silence. I fucking hate it.

[–]schnuck[S] 3 points4 points ago

the only counter is dead silence plus crouching...

[–]HiaItsPeter -2 points-1 points ago

You mean just crouching? When my friend uses it and sound whores, he tells me where people are, people who put dead silence on expecting the perk to do it's job. Who wants to crouch walk everywhere? I sure don't.

[–]schnuck[S] 0 points1 point ago

crouching with dead silence really is the only counter. that's why people hate it so much. however, if you are an experienced player, you are probably able to judge where you can run and where you should better slow down to a crouch, depending on map, situation and game mode. remember that sitrep pro doesn't just give you directional audio clues of footsteps, it also let's you identify the nature of the ground it is stepped upon (wood, concrete, grass etc.). so sometimes, even if i can't figure out the direction (e.g. too many explosions going on), i know where the enemy must be because i can hear footsteps on wooden planks or similar and know there are in this or in that building.

everything has its downsides though, even sitrep pro. it is pretty much useless in e.g. drop zone as there are explosions every other second. makes soundwhoring difficult.

[–]BDaught[24/7] Leader 1 point2 points ago

pretty much useless in e.g. drop zone

Not if you flank.

[–]AskACapperDOTcomONLYUSEDmeFACE 2 points3 points ago

Question is the shooting teammates trophy system in HC patched or is that still active? I know they patched knifing your own TS.

[–]YouBeWonderinOneVeeOne QS -1 points0 points ago

It still works. My friend did this yesterday for his sit-rep pro.

[–]fourDegrees -2 points-1 points ago

almost certain all hc teammate destroys are now patched. best way to get srp now is drop zone. just run to dz and put down a trophy. rinse and repeat. i got 37 destroys in 2 hours last night doing this.

[–]MonsterAddictMrsnuggles8 2 points3 points ago

Drop-zone is full of snipers, I found FFA to be the best way. I ran FAD kick extended mags with emp 'nade and got it after a few games.

[–]schnuck[S] 1 point2 points ago

check the last bullet point under "trivia" further down the page.

Using the Trophy System to destroy enemy grenades/equipment in conjunction with SitRep does not count towards unlocking SitRep Pro.

[–]fourDegrees 0 points1 point ago

I'd urge you to test it out... as things change in this games with little to no official change announcement.

[–]SteggyB -2 points-1 points ago

On Xbox destroying teammate tac inserts should still work.

[–]tenhotuiskunappalive 1 point2 points ago

Now try specialist and combine SitRep Pro with Dead silence. Fun times to be had.

[–]iBrakeAtYieldSigns 5 points6 points ago

Is an influx of "How it feels" + unrelated picture on the way to the sub? It's like the banned image macro thing except with no text on the picture.

Staying on topic, it took me some time to get used to the sounds I should be paying attention for and where they were coming from. I haven't played SnD since they changed it though.

[–]Marpin 4 points5 points ago

It's not an unrelated picture, it's an animated gif that perfectly captures the sensation the op is describing. … and it's Christopher Lloyd, who I once saw eating a burrito with his look-alike brother in downtown Santa Barbara.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points ago

It's better than the garbage "I usually have a negative k/d, but this one game I went 20-10! Upvote because I play the objective" topics I suppose

[–]marm0lademarmo7ade [24/7 Stylin] 2 points3 points ago

YOLO!

[–]zanookneekolzun 1 point2 points ago

Doc? Is that you?

[–]pushin88 2 points3 points ago

yep. from "one flew over the cuckoo's nest"

[–]zanookneekolzun 1 point2 points ago

That's awesome, and I totally forgot he was in that movie. Great flick, great actor. Great perk too, or so I've heard. I gotta spend some time getting it, which once I do will probably stop me from prestiging again.

[–]schnuck[S] 0 points1 point ago

i'm prestige 13 and i've got sitrep pro around 6 or 7 times to date. it can feel discouraging at times, but it certainly is possible to get it pro rather quick. this prestige i've managed to get it in 20 levels. i'm sure it's possible in 15. the best, and least "dangerous" thing to do, is to deny tactical inserts. do it 50 times and you're in :)

[–]rwingvr6RwingVR6 1 point2 points ago

My AX Pro's are my bread and butter.

[–]GreatCornolio 1 point2 points ago

Are they good? I bought one online an hour ago and I want to know what I should expect.

[–]TheNarwhalingBacon 1 point2 points ago

I've had 3 different TRITTONS, they all have good quality for their price, my main gripe is the build quality right above the earcups. On my 720s and Pros, both broke at the same spot, the bands right above the earcups. So while the quality is good, take extra care (I don't believe it was my treatment because I've had Astro A40s for 2 years after and they're still strong).

[–]GreatCornolio 0 points1 point ago

K. Thanks.

[–]rwingvr6RwingVR6 0 points1 point ago

Expect an eargasm.

[–]vanillarainBeardyMcBeardguy 1 point2 points ago

I am so envious. I have been trying to pro that perk for awhile. The teams I play against seem to hate using equipment.

[–]callum_cglpt1meflip 2 points3 points ago

EMP grenades and Drop Zone. You're welcome

[–]smoothlikemurphysInfamousCargo 1 point2 points ago

I've been trying this for a while now, but still havent got it - am on maybe 35/50. Do some pieces of equipment count while others don't?

[–]callum_cglpt1meflip 1 point2 points ago

It took me a while too. I'm not entirely sure which types of equipment count/don't count, and I remember reading people saying that it took them only a few games and thinking the same thing. So just be patient, and take the time to get it over with - it's well worth it!

[–]r2002 1 point2 points ago

Do you prevent tactical insertions? I think those were the easiest ones for me to take out.

[–]vanillarainBeardyMcBeardguy 0 points1 point ago

I should have thought of that. You're a good man.

[–]MooseSnacks 0 points1 point ago

Just go into hardcore dom with a bro and kill each other's trophy systems as you spawn. For some reason this counts as enemy equipment. You can get sit rep pro in just a couple games this way.

[–]vanillarainBeardyMcBeardguy -1 points0 points ago

This would be my preferred method. The only hang-up is that I don't know anyone well enough to do this with.

[–]schnuck[S] 0 points1 point ago

i think that was patched. also, doing that might be considered boosting.

[–]BloginshpielTheFAILcopter 1 point2 points ago

Really? I must get paired with the most MLG people out there. A lot of people use Portable Radars and that helped me a lot.

[–]pushin88 1 point2 points ago

God DAMN i love sitrep pro. It's just not fair. I feel like I'm cheating

[–]McDouble57toddlee57 0 points1 point ago

I know this is not related but what movie is that from?

[–]schnuck[S] 1 point2 points ago

one flew over the cuckoo's nest

[–]oL0RDo 1 point2 points ago

LMAO! Awesome!!

[–]iRenegadez 1 point2 points ago

Sit rep pro made me stop playing mw3. It ruined The game.

[–]juanvaldJuanvald -1 points0 points ago

Shhh...let the sheep continue to believe stalker or marksman is the best tier three perk.

[–]CarlosValdostaCarlosvaldosta 1 point2 points ago

hehe, They are very predictable too... i had t o call someone out in the lobby for being a dumbass last night.

Playing on Lockdown, you can hear people running on all the wood floors. so I pre fire killed this guy like 7 times because i could hear him coming.

He blows up in the lobby saying he is going to report me for hacking, and i calmly point out that i am hacking because i know his 3rd perk is stalker. (It was a guess, but i was right).

[–]No_RefundsToTheMoonVictim -1 points0 points ago

Here you go.

Also, is Sitrep Pro is as good as people say it is?

[–]B_Mack15 3 points4 points ago

Simply put; yes.

[–]No_RefundsToTheMoonVictim 2 points3 points ago

I might attempt to get it pro then. Looks like i'm running EMP 'nades for now on.

[–]Alice_Dee 3 points4 points ago

IF you have a headset and use it for... lets say 1-2 months... yes. If you dont have a headset (stereo is a good start and wont cost you as much as some 7.1 headset) it wont help you that much. Its not like taking SitRep Pro will make you better... it takes time.

[–]ReeColiReeColi -1 points0 points ago

It isn't THAT hard to sound whore.

[–]Alice_Dee 1 point2 points ago

Its not hard at all. It just takes time. I dont play MW3 for 5+ hours a day cause I dont like MW3 that much. If you play it every day for 5+ hours it wont take you that long...
