Soon they'll be robo-calling your house claiming that there's 5 lights.

[–]cleantoe 28 points29 points ago

There's actually only four lights.

[–]rchase 21 points22 points ago

I think you'd do well to think about that and reconsider.

[–]cleantoe 21 points22 points ago

THERE... ARE ONLY... FOUR LIGHTS!!

[–]thedudeatx 6 points7 points ago

There are 5 lights.

[–]abenton 10 points11 points ago

That 5th light is actually just a coupon for a light.

[–]icaruscoil 2 points3 points ago

Buy 4 get the 5th light free*!

*5th light may require some torture to redeem. Offer not valid in Canada.

[–]groinkick 5 points6 points ago

I know the fifth one isn't real, but I can't stop seeing it.

[–]workaccno33 298 points299 points ago

So Obama is THE SISKO?

[–]whatevrmn 148 points149 points ago

Obama needs to shave his head and grow the goatee. The goatee turned Sisko into a badass.

[–]frame_of_mind 38 points39 points ago

I humbly request that someone make this happen in Photoshop.

[–]Ambiwlans 20 points21 points ago

This just feels wrong.... http://i.imgur.com/5R9Fc.jpg

[–]Wes1180 38 points39 points ago

How about this?

EDIT: A further altering

[–]Descruell 41 points42 points ago

Oh god that looks like a giant tumor.

[–]advion 10 points11 points ago

[–]longislandthrowaway 12 points13 points ago

I can fap to this.

[–]Ayaq 8 points9 points ago

That makes one of us...

Perhaps the edit is better?

Shame

[–]Klinky1984 3 points4 points ago

An upvote for the attempt!

[–]ponchoandy 2 points3 points ago

God it looks like The Leader... just not green.

[–]deadmoo 4 points5 points ago

That just looks like Montel Williams.

[–]NarcoticNarcosis 0 points1 point ago

Walter White for president?

[–]llandar 0 points1 point ago

Heisenbama.

[–]Mehowthegreat 3 points4 points ago

Someone needs to make a petition for this.

[–]JJFO 1 point2 points ago

All black people should do this, I don't understand why they don't. The Sisko, Samuel L. Jackson, Issac Hayes. I would do it, but white people with that look are required to own a motorcycle and I can't afford one ATM.

[–]Xhafzotaj 0 points1 point ago

Abraham Lincoln, too. Now he HAS to grow a beard.

[–]FAPSLOCK[S] 70 points71 points ago

the sisko was not born of bajor

[–]kerbyklok 63 points64 points ago

Oh yeah, lets see that birth certificate! Why won't Commander Sisko release his long form federation birth certificate, what is he hiding?

[–]viaovid 3 points4 points ago

Obviously trying to hide his Prophet heritage.

[–]TehGogglesDoNothing 0 points1 point ago

If you've seen the series, you know about his mother.

[–]FAPSLOCK[S] 73 points74 points ago

This will really blow your mind.

[–]hobble420 30 points31 points ago

This thread. Continues to impress.

[–]Benthetraveler 8 points9 points ago

It's like watching tears of a congressman.avi all over again.

I can even imagine a sort of like "in the pale moonlight" episod with Obama where he sits in the whitehouse alone talking about unethical things he done...

[–]FAPSLOCK[S] 8 points9 points ago

[–]AJ_Rimmer 0 points1 point ago

I wish I could give you more than one upvote for this!

[–]Kristofenpheiffer 0 points1 point ago

"...because I can live with it... I can live with it..."

[–]Melnorme 3 points4 points ago

Anyone have Bachman in a funny hat?

[–]FAPSLOCK[S] 4 points5 points ago

I don't think that would work as well. Kai Winn is ostensibly on Sisko's side, but has a history of undercutting him. She worked her way up to top leadership a few decades, but found her popularity usurped by a relative newcomer.

[–]Melnorme 8 points9 points ago

Hell no she's not on his side. Nor was she top leadership until the incidents with the wormhole. She starts out as the head of a small, fundamentalist sect no one took seriously until she uses to the politics of fear to gain prominence. She is evil, even if she doesn't know it. But then, Gul Ducat doesn't see himself as evil, either. They're both right wing fascists.

[–]FAPSLOCK[S] 3 points4 points ago

ostensibly on Sisko's side

and i don't remember the small, fundamentalist part -- but she was a religious figure in the resistance during the occupation.

for most of the show, i don't think her character was black-and-white enough to call her "evil"

right wing -- well she's anti-Dukat spolier, and that's the only alignment i was trying to indicate

[–]VajayjayLeno 5 points6 points ago

The small, fundamentalist part was the entirety of her character before she became Kai. She hated the Federation's involvement in Bajor, thought it was watering down good Bajoran morality, and politely schemed to undermine Sisko, Vedek Bareil, and the Federation.

[–]FAPSLOCK[S] 4 points5 points ago

ok totally missed that. i thought she was already second in line for kai by the time the federation showed up.

[–]Bit_Chewy 0 points1 point ago

Not when the first link is dead. Please use Imgur - it can handle the traffic.

[–]FAPSLOCK[S] 2 points3 points ago

[–]thecriminalmind 32 points33 points ago

[–]runsoutofspace 19 points20 points ago

It says Atlantis... but these are all characters of SG-1. I demand that whoever made this be thrown into the ka-woosh.

[–]brox004 1 point2 points ago

Mind blown!!!!!!!

[–]nixnaxmik 0 points1 point ago

That makes no sense.

[–]racist_dog 4 points5 points ago

And Iraq is the wormhole to canada?

[–]Gargilius 5 points6 points ago

...sure, no offense, but Nana Visitor is a heck of a lot cuter than Joe Biden.

[–]Scraw 8 points9 points ago

And the Tea Party is the Jem'Hadar. And Sheldon Adelson is a Founder.

Edit: Fox News is the Founders.

[–]balls4xx 6 points7 points ago

No, fox news are obviously the voorta.

[–]nixnaxmik 1 point2 points ago

Have no will of their own, just do whatever stupid things the party wants them to do.

[–]chka -1 points0 points ago

Because all black people look alike?

But seriously, they don't look anything like each other, other than having slightly darker skin. Heck, Obama look more like Schwarzenegger than Avery Brooks.

[–]powercow -1 points0 points ago

Obama look more like jake(though not that much.. more in body type).. especially if you look at the older jake in the episode where his father was stuck in time.. But more inbetween that time and when jake was young.

Google imagine search should help, visualize

ok i wish they had imagine search.. image search.. if you took the middle image from the top row and middle image from the second and morphed them.. it would come out something not quite entirely unlike Obama.

[–]Maculous 71 points72 points ago

Does that make Ayn Rand and Ronald Regan the Founders?

[–]FAPSLOCK[S] 171 points172 points ago

The founders live as a single, shapeless mass. A SuperPAC.

[–]Maculous 30 points31 points ago

"All I know is that the PACs say to do something, and you do it... because if you do not, they will send in the Jem'Hadar. And then you die."

[–]Scraw 4 points5 points ago

"All I know is that the PACs Fox News says to do something, and you do it... because if you do not, they will send in the Jem'Hadar Tea Party. And then you die."

FTFY.

[–]Scraw 2 points3 points ago

Or Fox News.

[–]Stoneymonster 5 points6 points ago

Rand hated Reagan. Google it.

[–]VajayjayLeno 20 points21 points ago

Isn't that the core problem of the Tea Party? Not just that they have so many terrible views, but all of their views are contradictory with each other. The tragedy of American Conservativism: nationalism, laissez-faire capitalism, and Christianity in their truest forms are all opposed to each other, so they've taken the worst of all three and made an ideology of it.

[–]Xhafzotaj 1 point2 points ago

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

[–]nixnaxmik 1 point2 points ago

Yes. Very true. I especially am always amused by the striking contradiction between Christianity and laissez-faire capitalism, since so much of the bible indirectly or directly speaks against it. Jesus was anti-rich, and would advocate giving money to the poor. I always want to ask Tea Partiers: What would Jesus Do?

[–]Maculous 2 points3 points ago

Wasn't suggesting she didn't.

[–]hPromonex 85 points86 points ago

For anyone who's not American and/or doesn't follow american politics:

The guy who isn't Mitt Romney is Paul Ryan. He was recently chosen by Mitt Romney as a running mate for the upcoming election against President Obama.

[–]fatal-error 72 points73 points ago

Also, they are both completely batshit insane.

[–]nonsensepoem 134 points135 points ago

Not at all; they're just self-serving sociopaths, like many in politics.

I leave it to the observer to decide where in politics most of those sociopaths congregate.

[–]snailspace 17 points18 points ago

I leave it to the observer to decide where in politics most of those sociopaths congregate.

At the top.

Everybody knows that scum floats.

[–]Beatle_Matt 26 points27 points ago

I disagree. While I agree that maybe Romney is putting on the "hard-right" act for the election, Ryan is absolutely batshiat insane. Should they get elected, and something happen to Romney, God forbid he ever has to run the country.

[–]my_man_krishna 22 points23 points ago

They're not getting elected. They're picking a dud for a reason.

The GOP is throwing the election because they know the economy is going to crash and burn during the next four years. They don't want to be the ones holding the bag when it happens.

[–]Liar142 54 points55 points ago

...and the award for silliest conspiracy theory goes to...

[–]G_Morgan 13 points14 points ago

TBH this does happen in politics. Not throwing an election, nobody does that. However big candidates refuse to run and duds are thrown to the slaughter if a party thinks it is a good election to lose.

They don't want to lose but if they do they are prepared for it.

[–]Magnora 6 points7 points ago

Are you kidding, Romney has raised more money for this election than any president in history ever. They're definitely still trying to win. They're just trying to mobilize the radical right is all. They've stopped pandering to centrists.

[–]woahlookihaveapillow 14 points15 points ago

Many Young Republicans really love both Ryan and Romney.

Edit: I am not a Republican and do not wish to even discuss politics with Republicans because it is election season and my pell grants are at stake, die.

[–]frankdozier 4 points5 points ago

No, you've got it backwards. They purposely crashed the economy when they knew Bush would be replaced by someone from the left. Then, for the last three and a half years, they did nothing to help the economy, so that they could say the new President was lame. Then they could ride in and save the day.

And to any who think they have no chance to win, I say you are living in an alternate reality where voting means something.

[–]thedudedylan 0 points1 point ago

you couldn't tell by how much money has been thrown at this election.

[–]iHateusernames1 2 points3 points ago

Ryan comes off more ignorant than insane.

He's a classic example of Hanlon's razor; don't attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

He does what he's told, which is most likely exactly why he was chosen.

[–]VorpalAuroch 0 points1 point ago

No, he's clearly very smart; he has cultivated a ridiculously strong image completely at odds with his actions and keeps it up to the point that he is basically never questioned about the discrepancy.

[–]nixnaxmik 0 points1 point ago

He joined politics because of Ayn Rand. That's insane, not stupid.

[–]rasterbee 1 point2 points ago

Romney already called him the 'next president of the US'....a chilling premonition of things to come.

The election is rigged, Rmoney/Ryan will win. The day before they take office Rmoney will fake his own death and flee to never be heard from again. Facial reconstruction surgery, new identity, the whole shebang.

Ushering in the Rise & Reign of Ryan.

[–]farmthis 8 points9 points ago

wait, Romney is going to turn himself into a Bajoran through reconstructive surgery, to pursue freeing the fire wraiths instead of getting involved in politics with the Dominion shortly prior to their demise at the hands of the federation??

Clever Romney.

[–]xenthum 2 points3 points ago

[–]starbuxed 0 points1 point ago

It has to be the day after. otherwise Obama is president until he dies and then he can past it on to his kids. thus starting the kingdom of the united states of America, otherwise known as KOUSA. Havent you read the constitution?

Edit Be

[–]bromadon 0 points1 point ago

except Obama did the same exact thing when he introduced Biden

[–]Mimirs 0 points1 point ago

As election season approaches, we are going to get more and more /r/politics breaches, aren't we?

[–]nonsensepoem 2 points3 points ago

Probably. But then, for science fiction that is relevant to life (i.e., probably all good sci-fi), that's an occupational hazard.

[–]auandi 1 point2 points ago

To be fair, if you honestly think you should be President you have to be at least a little full of yourself. Humble people don't think they should have half the country vote for them to have control of enough nukes to end life as we know it.

[–]Duramax159 23 points24 points ago

They believe in a different political philosophy than you, so they are insane?

This is the shit reddit gets mad at fox news for.. Just because you don't agree with something doesn't make it wrong.

[–]GOATUNHEIM 14 points15 points ago

This is why the last place I talk politics is reddit. I mean, irl you usually have to listen to each other in a civil way, and get to know why the other person thinks the way they do. I really enjoy being around level headed people with separate views because then we can explore ourselves, and grow from it. I've found that generally many people want the same thing, but see different solutions.

However, on reddit people often parrot shit and an opposing viewpoint gets downvoted and hidden by a demographic, as if that somehow makes their points invalid. It's just not a very good way to go about it in my opinion. I'm sure there is more diversity around than the comments sections show, but people who don't follow reddit's mainstream view just decide not to even bother.

[–]sakebomb69 18 points19 points ago

Clearly, since they disagree with your worldview.

[–]The_Oblivious_One 3 points4 points ago

Thank you.

[–]weewolf 3 points4 points ago

You don't get that far in politics by being insane. They are the least very charismatic and are smart enough to listen to their handlers.

[–]MacEnvy 1 point2 points ago

Michelle Bachmann is certifiably insane, uncharismatic, and dumb. How do you explain that?

[–]qemqemqem 1 point2 points ago

I love how the explanation of the politicians is higher than the explanation of a minor Trek character. As it should be.

[–]Fantasysage 24 points25 points ago

So who is Garak? I don't there is anyone alive badass enough.

[–]92MsNeverGoHungry 21 points22 points ago

Whoever it is wouldn't be seen on a national level, being but a simple tailor.

[–]joke-away 10 points11 points ago

So, Jon Stewart

[–]JustJonny 0 points1 point ago

Nah, if Jon Stewart were like Garak he never would have been named the most trusted journalist in America.

Now, maybe there's some crazy homeless guy who lives on Jon Stewart's street, and when Jon Stewart runs into him, and buys him a coffee and some breakfast, the crazy homeless guy spouts off some gibberish, which Jon laughs at, but then later, it makes him start to think...

[–]Greg112390 0 points1 point ago

So Jon Stewart is Dr. Bashear? Would that mean that Colbert is O'Brian?

[–]Kamien 2 points3 points ago

G Gordon Liddy?

[–]Blackneto 0 points1 point ago

I love the G Man. He's like that crazy uncle that you try to ignore until shit gets real.

[–]neuromorph 1 point2 points ago

Joe Biden? People see him as a simple fellow you have a beer with. But behind the scenes he must have some massive connections with all sides.

[–]Fantasysage 1 point2 points ago

So then Obama is Cisco and we can re-create the ep In the Pale Moonlight.

[–]zpweeks 0 points1 point ago

You mean the double, er, triple, er who the fuck knows any more agent?

He's Joe Lieberman.

[–]johns-appendix 0 points1 point ago

Gingrich might be closest. Master of realpolitik, fantastic speechifier, exiled from politics, and everyone in his party loathes him.

[–]FAPSLOCK[S] 0 points1 point ago

Huntsman, maybe?

EDIT: Dole?

[–]AsAChemicalEngineer 21 points22 points ago

I heart DS9, they did right by going down the serial route and away from separate episodes. Even their stand alone episodes would often expand on something in the overarching story.

I miss having a show like it.

[–]Rulebook_Lawyer 10 points11 points ago

Which was learned from Babylon 5.

[–]Rulebook_Lawyer 0 points1 point ago

Thanks for that!

[–]kmolleja 2 points3 points ago

I believe it was actually stolen from Babyon 5 after Strayzinski pitched Babylon 5 to Paramount.

[–]Rulebook_Lawyer 0 points1 point ago

I believe so as well, from when I was in a small group talking to Strayzinski. In that the first season of DS9 did not have much of a story arc until later on. Additionally of the difficulty of pitching Babylon 5, when execs thought only Star Trek could pull off such an attempt.

[–]Benthetraveler 3 points4 points ago

I miss having a show.

FTFY

And no, Dr. Who, Continuum, Terra Nova or any other sort of post BSG sifi (the last "real" sifi show) doesn't count.

[–]Bijan641 6 points7 points ago

Those shows are all real sci fi. Explain how they aren't. It's just that continuum and terra nova are awful.

And I'm sure the soft nature of Dr who turns a few people off, but it's definitely scifi.

[–]kyr 2 points3 points ago

I think many people just miss proper space ships and battles. There's a lot of stuff out there that technically contains fictional science, but I feel like Dr. Who and Continuum are almost a different genre than Star Trek and BSG.

Not to say that they don't deserve the description scifi, or that they are bad shows, but they're just not the same.

[–]Bijan641 0 points1 point ago

I don't think they are a different genre. In fact, although executed piss-poorly, Terra Nova and Continuum are both more complicated and have more depth of premise as a sci-fi mainly because of it's serial nature. Star Trek, even with it's hard sci-fi and tech-talk, is more akin to Dr. Who.

I do miss a good show with spaceships. The problem isn't that people aren't willing to make space-battle shows anymore, it's that they are expensive to produce at a level that will be acceptable to modern audiences.

If I remember correctly (which I might not), BSG had troubles with money, earning most of it's money through DVD sales between seasons. They even auctioned set pieces off before filming the final half-season. Some of that went to charity but I think it might have also been to get a little extra cash for the home-stretch.

[–]moarroidsplz 4 points5 points ago

Battlestar.

[–]georgehotelling 5 points6 points ago

Ronald D. Moore was behind both. A lot of things clicked when I learned that.

[–]frankdozier 0 points1 point ago

Well, we'll have to wait to see what Starz does with their idea.

[–]bloodfist 1 point2 points ago

I liked it best when the episodes were stand alone but still contributed to the arc. I actually really miss episodic tv like TNG. I find it hard to schedule around a show, and it's sometimes very nice to be able to watch an episode and not have to see the 100 that came before. Plus, it adds a lot of rewatchability since I can flip on a random episode without having to remember the context of it.

[–]vluhd 1 point2 points ago

I agree completely.

Where is our new star trek series? It's been 8 years.

[–]molrobocop 0 points1 point ago

I respect that.

But for all the grand story-arcs, you need to be willing to commit to the sequence to get the full experience.

Watch a show like TNG, or Stargate SG-1, and you can for the most part just jump right in.

[–]the_hell_indeed 4 points5 points ago

So does this make Ron Paul Quark, the guy who greatly values the gold pressed latinum standard?

[–]BreadyMurphy 1 point2 points ago

I'd wager Ron Paul would be a ferengi.

[–]zpweeks 1 point2 points ago

Dude has his society's founding rules memorized, too.

[–]fourpac 19 points20 points ago

The GOP seems more Ferengi-like to me. They seem to follow the Rules of Acquisition pretty closely.

Edit: Source.

[–]8rg6a2o 8 points9 points ago

The Ferengi Rules of Acquisition read like the Republican Party platform in all honesty.

[–]kinyutaka 5 points6 points ago

Some of them are quite admirable.

Rule of Acquisition #9 - Opportunity plus instinct equals profit.

16 - A deal is a deal.

22 - A wise man can hear profit in the wind.

31 - Never make fun of a Ferengi's mother.

34 - War is good for business.

35 - Peace is good for business.

45 - Expand or die.

48 - The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife.

57 - Good customers are as rare as latinum, Treasure them.

59 - Free advice is seldom cheap.

62 - The riskier the road, the greater the profit.

109 - Dignity and an empty sack is worth the empty sack.

112 - Never have sex with the boss's sister.

125 - You can't make a deal if you're dead.

190 - Hear all, trust nothing.

208 - Sometimes, the only thing more dangerous than a question is an answer.

214 - Never go into negotiation on an empty stomach.

285 - No good deed goes unpunished.

Like all religions, the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition are not anywhere near perfect, but have some valid statements.

[–]Inquisitr 2 points3 points ago

16 - A deal is a deal, but only between Ferengi

34 - War is good for Business, but only from a distance

Fixed those two for you

[–]kinyutaka 0 points1 point ago

Lol. Memory Alpha listed them as I wrote them.

They had a separate rule for contracts and deals.

And pardon the boldness, I didn't realize that the # would do that.

[–]trekkie80 0 points1 point ago

No.

Ferengi, by definition, is the Federal Reserve and everything associated - bankers, wall street, and so on.

Plus, with so many bankers to photoshop, you get a good chance of finding a great match with Quark, Zek, and that auditor/arbiter fellow (I forget his name)

[–]dfrehil 56 points57 points ago

Makes sense, Romney has ties to some kooky space religion and Ryan serves mysterious otherworldly masters.

[–]nonsensepoem 20 points21 points ago

some kooky space religion

As opposed to all the other religions that make complete sense. :)

[–]palanoid 17 points18 points ago

Mormonism is space religion. They believe that god lives in planed Kolob and other stuff.

ps. Battlestar Galactica series was created by Mormon Glen A. Larson so there are many mormon things in it (especially in the orginal series). Kolob/Kobol Quorum of twelve, 13 tribes/colonies etc.

http://home.comcast.net/~billotto/Mormon_N_BSG.html

[–]nonsensepoem 4 points5 points ago

Mormonism is space religion. They believe that god lives in planed Kolob and other stuff.

Judeo-Islamo-Christianity's god lives in space, too-- or "the heavens," as it's called. They made no distinction between space and sky, though so I guess really we can take our pick.

If you're going to ridicule Mormonism (without also ridiculing all religion), at least attack at an appropriate weak point: the fact that it was invented by a convicted con-man.

[–]grottohopper 4 points5 points ago

My favorite point about mormonism- They claim to retroactively override ALL native american religions. Just disgusting racist entitlement.

[–]goodbetterbestbested 2 points3 points ago

As I've said before, if there is a God, He is necessarily a space alien. There's really no other option, we know He didn't come from Earth.

Even if He came "from outside space and time," that's pretty "space alieny" too, right?

[–]bloodfist -1 points0 points ago

That's pretty C'thulu anyway.

[–]my_man_krishna 4 points5 points ago

Taoism and most sects of Buddhism are actually quite rational for the most part.

[–]My_Empty_Wallet 3 points4 points ago

The only reason I upvoted this was to watch it go from 1700 to 1701.

[–]fannyalgersabortion 8 points9 points ago

Not even close. The trek characters have a much stronger ethical ideal.

[–]Vranak 9 points10 points ago

Frankly I think this comparison does a grave disservice to the honorable and eminently-interesting character of Garak.

[–]kaythetall 2 points3 points ago

Which one?

[–]LordCauthon 20 points21 points ago

Are you saying the GOP base's it's candidates on Star Trek familiarity? If so they may get the Trekkie vote.

[–]Descriptivista 75 points76 points ago

base's it's

Holy fuck. That is abominable.

[–]Azzmo 5 points6 points ago

Boo that man. Boo LordCauthon!

[–]LordCauthon 5 points6 points ago

Yeah I agree, looking on it now I'd like to apologise to all the people I have clearly hurt in my reckless use of apostrophes and offer up the excuse that I'd come off a twelve hour shift and so I really did not care.

[–]Teknofobe 1 point2 points ago

You monster. Think of the children.

[–]Neckbeard_Prime 0 points1 point ago

Oooooohhhh shit, here comes an "s!"

[–]FAPSLOCK[S] 28 points29 points ago

I like Gul Dukat, but I'm not sure about Weyoun. I think he can be a divisive figure.

[–]LordCauthon 31 points32 points ago

Well with Weyoun if there's a major cock up we can replace him with another...

[–]FAPSLOCK[S] 9 points10 points ago

...is that a joke about Paul Ryan's father?

[–]glamdr1ng 5 points6 points ago

Garak I would be totally down for, but not Dukat.

[–]whatevrmn 4 points5 points ago

Gul Romney promised all that was lost in the war will be returned to America by his son's birthday. Including Terok Nor.

[–]slitrobo 0 points1 point ago

That explains a lot actually. My Dad and step mom are ardent Republicans and love Star Trek.

[–]Scraw 0 points1 point ago

This seems more likely for the Bush/Cheney Ticket.

[–]kaythetall 3 points4 points ago

So, Obama is Sisko, and Biden is Kurzon Dax? Awesome.

[–]DocTomoe 6 points7 points ago

Biden is a permanently-drunk womanizer? The more you know...

[–]kaythetall 2 points3 points ago

By that standard, clearly Bill Clinton as the wise, rascally, irascible Kurzon fits beautifully.

But as a perpetual old sidekick, Biden does just fine.

[–]Inquisitr 0 points1 point ago

Bill was Kurzon Dax, Biden is Jadzia. Still a drunken slob, but at least pretends to hide it.

[–]GaffaCharge 5 points6 points ago

"The truth is out there"

[–]rocketvat 3 points4 points ago

-Obi Wan Kenobi

[–]xrayden 2 points3 points ago

No ferengi?

[–]President_Mitt 2 points3 points ago

Geez you guys are ridiculous. We are obviously the two darths.

[–]ikkonoishi 5 points6 points ago

Okay... fine. Screw it. I'm voting for Romney.

[–]obvioustroll 1 point2 points ago

Indeed. Just to look at the butt hurt expressions on redditors' faces.

[–]wonkothesane1986 16 points17 points ago

r/politics is hemorrhaging.

[–]juca5056 5 points6 points ago

No. It's not. At least not if you're using this as an example of said leak. You don't have to get into the politics or be pro/anti Romney to recognize the ridiculous similarities these 4 have. Calm yourself.

[–]Mimirs 2 points3 points ago

Have you seen the comments upstream? It's definitely hemorrhaging there.

[–]spazzm 4 points5 points ago

No, it's more like diarrhoea.

[–]Barril 1 point2 points ago

Please then downvote and move on. Comments like this I doubt will convince adamant users like the OP to stop crossing subreddit borders with their opinions in tow, no matter how big of a fence you have, unfortunately.

[–]mesohungry 4 points5 points ago

I can't wait till december when /r/politics goes back in their hole.

[–]neonmeate 5 points6 points ago

KEEP POLITICS OUT OF R/SCIFI!

[–]ooitzoo 2 points3 points ago

Really SciFi? I come here specifically to AVOID r/politics. WTF

[–]Who_said_I_wont 0 points1 point ago

The first thing I though when Ryan was chosen was "Awesome, now I don't have to see an unattractive face plastered on anything I see for the next X amount of months.". Not in a gay way, but I think everyone can appreciate that we don't have to look at ugly politicians.

[–]klapaucius 1 point2 points ago

He's ugly on the inside.

[–]michaelgecko -1 points0 points ago

Middle row, right picture. Not bad!

I approve this message

[–]Tebasaki 1 point2 points ago

Love the knaar!

[–]frankdozier 0 points1 point ago

Normally, I would downvote such a post for it's irrelevancy to the subreddit, but this is just so spot on that it is scary.

[–]Claytonius_Homeytron 0 points1 point ago

Mother of god!!!

[–]ky420 0 points1 point ago

Weird I was just watching DS9 6th season on netflix and decided to check reddit only to find this. Pretty cool.

[–]Jahordon 0 points1 point ago

WOW. I now remember of whom these two reminded me!

[–]Androecian 0 points1 point ago

Who are those characters, and what reference am I missing?

[–]DocTomoe 1 point2 points ago

Welcome to /r/scifi, where it is expected to know at least Star Trek. These are Gul Dukat and Weyoum from ST:DS9, who are two of the major antagonistic characters of the series - one a power politician adn later vasal, the other a puppet to control the former.

The other two guys? Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan - it's ok not to know them, they don't really matter.

[–]8rg6a2o 0 points1 point ago

The only question now is who the greedy Ferengi are

[–]kaythetall 1 point2 points ago

The Fire Caves are totally a domestic renewable energy resource.

Security, Energy, and strategic allies with Fire monsters and a vast interstellar empire? I'd vote for that ticket.

[–]racer6969 0 points1 point ago

wait ryan has an obama not bad face second picture down on the right

[–]SubcommanderShran -1 points0 points ago

Oh man, this thread was made for me! I love me some Jeffrey Combs! And you're right! Except Weyoun was the puppet who did what his masters told him. Romney fills that role in this analogy, but good call!

[–]Discoamazing 0 points1 point ago

Coincidence? ...or conspiracy?

[–]-lv -1 points0 points ago

Strange coincidence: Gul Ducat sounds like Gold Ducat - which is a golden coin (gold 3,5grams) originating from Italy in 1300 and widely used in Europe from 1500-1900

Now he looks even more like Gul Ducat???
