After a long discussion with a friend of mine, we concluded the most powerful man with a green lantern ring would be the Joker. No fear, nothing but willpower an insane amount of creativity, the constructs he could create would be the craziest creations ever seen come out of a ring.

[–]Koofnahbla 19 points20 points ago

And his reaction to Scarecrow's gas shows that Sinestro Corps couldn't touch him.

[–]MattNastie 9 points10 points ago

What was his reaction?

[–]SurlyFellow 20 points21 points ago

It had none, as the Joker has no fear.

[–]MattNastie 4 points5 points ago

That makes sense. Nothing specifically interesting though?

[–]SurlyFellow 15 points16 points ago

The Scarecrow and Joker had teamed up, and the Scarecrow double crossed the Joker attempting to use fear gas on him, which had no effect and the Joker proceeded to beat him with a chair. I find it interesting that he has no fear myself.

[–]OccamsCat 31 points32 points ago

I just like the fact he beat him with a chair.

[–]MattNastie 4 points5 points ago

Actually that's what I was asking for. Specifically what the set up joker's reaction was. It is pretty cool. Which comic is this from?

[–]SurlyFellow 5 points6 points ago

Knightfall after Bane breaks Batman's back.

[–]MattNastie 4 points5 points ago

Thanks! The only thing that seems weird is how scarecrow crosses the joker. It almost always ends up the other way around.

[–]Patius 2 points3 points ago

Are you sure it's because he has no fear? I've read somewhere that the Joker is immune to almost all poisons as a result of whatever turned him into the joker (I think this is why Joker Venom doesn't hurt him.)

[–]SurlyFellow 4 points5 points ago

Joker went up against Visionary in the Birds of Pray comics as well. When Visionary tried to use his mind control powers to make the Joker experience his worst fears, the Joker laughed it off and said something to effect of it being a better buzz than fear toxin. This being mind control, not a gas, toxin or poison, leads me to conclude he has no fear.

[–]Patius 2 points3 points ago

Well, that makes sense. So he's fearless, too crazy for mind control, and immune to a lot of poisons.

That's fairly impressive.

[–]JoshuaKevinPerry 1 point2 points ago

Wouldn't batman be a yellow ring-bearer? If they still existed.

[–]Misquote_The_Bible 1 point2 points ago

Hmm... I always thought Lex Luthor would be end game with a GL ring, but The Joker is a far more interesting choice

[–]fman5k 13 points14 points ago

Red lantern Hulk owns all.

[–]Lohlein[S] 3 points4 points ago

Which hulk?

[–]SurlyFellow 6 points7 points ago

Hypothetically, Green Hulk with a red (rage) ring.

[–]Lohlein[S] 1 point2 points ago

You know there's more than one type of green hulk?

http://marvel.wikia.com/Hulk_(Robert_Bruce_Banner)#Incarnations

[–]SurlyFellow 2 points3 points ago

I am absolutely, it really than comes down to interpretation, which would you say has more rage, certainly not Smart Hulk or any of the times Banner had control, perhaps World War Hulk if you are looking for something more specific. I think Hulk with a Lantern ring would end up being its own incarnation of the Hulk.

[–]Lohlein[S] 1 point2 points ago

I think World War Hulk would be the best one. I don't any other hulk would have the creativity necessary for a ring.

[–]SurlyFellow 0 points1 point ago

Very good point.

[–]Chuckaluffagus -1 points0 points ago

Not necessarily. Hulk would be more on control of his intellect as a lantern, and would be pretty crazy as a lantern.

[–]Lohlein[S] 0 points1 point ago

Don't you think world war hulk is the most pissed off hulk?

[–]fman5k 6 points7 points ago

She-Hulk when Hercules forgets her birthday

[–]londubhawc 3 points4 points ago

Would have been scarrier if the Yellow Ring hadn't A) tried to control him, and B) rejected him for previously having worn a Green. Batman, who uses his willpower and fear as weapons with a Sinestro Corps ring? That'd be terrifying.

[–]Zombiehunteras 11 points12 points ago

I think I'm going to be the asshole that points out that, yeah, that's kind of the point of batman in the first place. He's the (almost) perfect candidate for a yellow ring. He makes people piss their pants anyways, why not give him an actual superpower to augment that? Besides, Sinestro Corps Batman is tight as shit in Arkham City.

[–]jag424 4 points5 points ago

Whats funny is Batman was offered the Green Lantern ring, but said no, because Gotham was enough

[–]mrP0P0 2 points3 points ago

Good Guy Batman

[–]bobaf 4 points5 points ago

I love it. But think sinestro corps batman makes more sense

[–]darthelmo 1 point2 points ago

He decided he doesn't need a Sinestro Corps ring. Told it to take a hike, IIRC.

[–]Lord_Bradford 3 points4 points ago

I think the real question is, on a world that Batman lives on, why would the ring or the Green Lantern Corps ever choose anyone else to begin with?

[–]Kaival 2 points3 points ago

Before the events of Flashpoint on Earth 32 Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent, Wonder Woman and Barry Allen were all Green Lanterns.

[–]darthelmo 0 points1 point ago

That was canon? I thought it was Elseworlds.

[–]Kaival 0 points1 point ago

It's kinda both. Before Flashpoint, Earth 32 was where Elseworlds took place.

[–]darthelmo 0 points1 point ago

Wait, wait—all the Elseworlds stories happened in the same reality? That doesn't seem right...

[–]vadergeek 0 points1 point ago

Well, Earth 32. So, basically it's a hypothetical story that might come up if someone does some dimension hopping.

[–]Verseratops 0 points1 point ago

I like how I just posted this in a comment, and completely lost out on all of that karma. Proof.

[–]Ninjasantaclause 0 points1 point ago

Its allmost as if karma acttualy means something

[–]Verseratops 0 points1 point ago

Missed opportunities make me sad no matter how minuscule they are.

[–]ohdoylerulez90 3 points4 points ago

What's the point of the cape then? There's no need for it. Also, gadgets? Why do you need them? If you've got the ring?

[–]darthelmo 10 points11 points ago

He's still the goddamn Batman.

[–]DinosaurViking 5 points6 points ago

Aesthetics.

[–]Not_really_Spartacus 4 points5 points ago

Plan B

[–]jonahtheFish 1 point2 points ago

I've seen this picture before but never the source. Is there a source? Or is it just fanart?

[–]burritoman88 2 points3 points ago

IIRC it happened sometime before Blackest Night arc when Geoff Johns was relaunching Green Lantern

Edit: Green Lantern vol. 4, issue #9

[–]jonahtheFish 0 points1 point ago

Awesome, thanks!

[–]fpsryan 0 points1 point ago

Give the Batman a superpower and you have a god.

[–]Koofnahbla 0 points1 point ago

Happened in one of the S&B story arcs.

[–]Bat245 0 points1 point ago

I personally think its a good idea but the Green Lantern Corp wouldn't suit Batman as Batman thrives on instilling fear into his enemies much like the Scarecrow and so many other of his enemies, I imagine the yellow power ring of the Sinestro corp would suit him better

[–]mr3film -2 points-1 points ago

But Batman has a fear... Of bats!

[–]darthelmo 1 point2 points ago

Irrelevant.

[–]Chaoswithak 1 point2 points ago

Actually that would make him a horrible green lantern. They either have no fear (most of them) or can overcome their fear (Kyle). Batman has fears and cant overcome them. He lives in fear and makes it his ally. That's why Batman doesn't get along with most GLs. He would have become Parallax years ago.

[–]darthelmo 2 points3 points ago

Where did you get the idea that Batman can't or doesn't overcome his fears? It seems to me he's been more successful at overcoming his fears than any GL, ever. Not dissing any GL, but Batman surmounted a tragedy that should have crippled him emotionally.

[–]Chaoswithak 2 points3 points ago

He overcame the death of his parents but its usually said he still fears bats. He uses the fear but its still there. And Kyle overcomes fear better than anyone ever.

[–]darthelmo 1 point2 points ago

I guess "overcoming fear" to me includes using the fear for constructive purposes. (shrug) Maybe I'm wrong.

[–]Chaoswithak 1 point2 points ago

Yeah i guess it can unless your a GL and then it can be used against you.

[–]Chuckaluffagus 1 point2 points ago

Someone's a Kyle Raynar fan

[–]QD_Mitch 0 points1 point ago

Batman was actually invited to join the Sinestro Corps before that whole bang kicked off.

[–]mr3film 0 points1 point ago

Hardly. Thanks for the downvotes! I thrive on them!

[–]heymejack 0 points1 point ago

He can definitely overcome that though, and does every time he meets scarecrow. Isn't that what the Lanterns do, overcome their fear with will?
