I think it basically means scaring them off with too much information too early in the relationship, or getting socially awkward enough to say something like "Oh, I'm not looking for a girlfriend at the moment", or "I already have a girlfriend" because of a fucked up brain fart caused by excitement. That's what I immediately thought when I read it anyway, then I thought of this.
