The sad thing is, that pigeon probably can't fly, so while that bus was coming towards it, it had probably accepted its fate of death. It was ready to die a hero, a martyr. It wanted to be a reminder to pigeons everywhere that humans rule this planet and that we need to be on their side, to become one with the humans. That pooping on humans should be a thing of the past, as they control the fate of pigeons. It would have been a new era of peace. Then the bus driver swerves, and now the pigeon looks like some fucktard useless flightless pigeon in the middle of the road.

Actually, because pigeons' eyes are so much better than ours, that bird was completly in control of the situation from the start. Pigeons can process visual information much more quickly than humans. Their eyes shoot at a higher frame rate than ours, if you will. If a human were standing in front of the bus they'd be all "oh shit it's a bus what do I do" SMACK. For the pigeon it was more like " Ok so there's a bus. It's going pretty slowly isn't it. Oh well I'm all good, not gonna git hit. I wonder what I'll have for dinner tonight? I hope my asshole pigeon roommate isn't having a party again tonight. Goddam I hate his douchebag friends. Oh look here's that bus, they should really clean the underside of this thing. Where was I, oh yeah, definitely tacos tonight"

Yes. They easily regenerate the lost limb, and even have a spot that's designated for them to break off their own claw... something about how they can break their claw off at that spot and have almost no blood loss and their immune system is already buffed up in that area.

I posted this about a week ago in another thread but it's still relevant here:

I was watching a winged ant walk across the table towards me the other day. Didn't really think anything of it until it paused and proceeded to rip off it's own wings and continue on its way as off nothing happened. I have no idea why it did it but it seemed perfectly fine as it ran down the side of the table.

What was weird is that it ripped off all four of its wings. One of the comments that replied to me last time speculated that it was a fertilized queen looking for an area to start a new colony and she didn't need the wings anymore.

Just from watching, the crab probably was attacked or injured the claw somehow. Some crustaceans as well as many reptiles (lizards) have a muscle called a sphincter, around some major limbs, which they can contract at will which severs the muscular, nervous, and blood systems from the limb, forcing it to fall off. Most animals that can do this also have regenerative cells, allowing them to regrow the limb.

Edit 2: The funny this is, we have sphincters too, in our assholes. Allowing us to push poop out of our anus.

Edit 3: I feel retarded. Reptiles have the sphincters, as you can see crabs are just badass and rip the damn thing off.

Explanation from the old thread.

This is a clip from an episode of Jacques Cousteau's The Odyssey: Clipperton the island that time forgot. Clipperton is a tiny island off the coast of Mexico that is completely covered by those little orange crabs. They have successfully eaten all the vegetation of the island, and appear everywhere in large swarms. They sometimes try eat bird eggs from the local Boobie population but occasionally get injured from defensive parents, which is what happened to this guy. His arm was badly injured from a fight with a Boobie and he proceeded to rip it off as it will regenerate after the next molt.
