The low brass sections are always full of the best specimens humanity can muster.

[–]fred523 1 point2 points ago

[–]ChiliFlake 10 points11 points ago

Soooo satisfying :)

[–]nastros 46 points47 points ago

I have been tempted to this on both airplanes and cinemas with stupid kids running around with no supervision. Some parents have no consideration for others.

[–]uB166ERu 15 points16 points ago

sometimes the parents are even more annoying.

This bitch of a mother sitting in a row next to me was obviously in a bad mood or just chronically annoyed by everything. She was constantly commanding her poor husband, to go get stuff out of one of the bags that was at the other side of the airplane. Then when the poor father couldn't find what his bitchwife wanted from the bag, without consideration for others she was just shouting at her husband where to find the stupid thing she needed, then she started sending on of her little shitty kids back and forth to the father to explain where it was.

The poor father clearly couldn't find what she was looking for, probably because the dumbass bitch mother didn't put it there in the first place.

EDIT: maybe the guy did something really bad before and that's why she was treating him like shit. In any case I hate it when people treath their partners as shit be it the man or the woman, and I hate it even more if they without shame annoy other people in the public space with their shitty way of dealing with things and eachother. These are the rare moments that I think 'these people should die and not reproduce'

[–]jakob777 2 points3 points ago

It shouldnt matter respect for others in public and your loved ones and how you treat them in general should have curbed this. Its sad but he friends/parents/loved ones dont love her enough to sit her down and say your being a bitch all the time, and its not ok. Yeah yeah yeah you dont care and you dont need us, but we did need you and its sad but we no longer will. They have cats available for adoption at the shelter.

[–]thaway314156 -3 points-2 points ago

one of the bags that was at the other side of the airplane.

It seems that only on American flights do the people put their bags not in the compartment closest to them, but in far far away places (mostly the first empty one in the front of the plane). Why is that? Because they think it's too much of a hassle to carry their baggage all the way with them to their seats?

[–]uB166ERu 5 points6 points ago

It was an ryanair flight from the UK to Sicily. But there was not enough storage room for all the crazy lots of handlugage people bring with them, so It was a bit of a hassle for some people trying to find place to put their handlugage which ended up some people having to put their handlugage away from their seats.

Im also always baffled by how much lugage some people take with them for a 7 day holiday. There were several people who were on the same plane back, so I knew they only went for 7 days. But oh boy the lugage they had with them looked like they were going away for months! Once you've gone travelling around a lot you pack way more efficiently because you just can't afford dragging around so much stuff. But those families going to their all-in all taken care of hotels, they bring their whole house inventory with them!

[–]sporkafunk 0 points1 point ago

Often people bring a carry-luggage as well as a small personal bag, like a laptop or a purse. Some people put all their things in the overhead compartment, because they are inconsiderate. The airlines often clearly state that the overhead is for luggage and you put your personal item under the seat in front of you.

I nearly always have to put my luggage closer to the back of the plane then hope someone gets it down when we land, otherwise I stand there waiting for everyone to de-board so I can go get my luggage.

So, you just learned something new: Luggage up top, your dumb purse under the seat. Easy peasy.

[–]ncfoo 0 points1 point ago

Why is that? Because they think it's too much of a hassle to carry their baggage all the way with them to their seats?

No, the reason that this happens is because some jackass brings a giant roll-on suitcase on the plane. The airline employees don't want to start a scene so they don't say anything. The jackass proceeds to put his giant suitcase in your overhead bin taking up all the room. So, when you get on the plane, there's no room for your bag. Then, the airline employee tells you to put your bag in someone else's bin (forcing them to relocate their stuff somewhere else). This could all be prevented by simply enforcing the existing airline rules and making the jackass check his giant suitcase with the rest of the luggage.

THAT KID IS BACK ON THE ELEVATOR AGAIN!

[–]outloudkat[!] 20 points21 points ago

[–]NextDayAir 2 points3 points ago

a friend and I USED to do this when we were younger... we went to see the old original transformer movie (the damn cartoon one where all the kids got a giggle because a cartoon transformer yelled "shit!") and we were so annoyed by people letting their kids run up and down the aisle we decided to sit across from each other and trip the shits when they ran by...

actually had a parent yell at us and then try to get us kicked out... when the usher came and said something to us, he laughed about it and told us that he was going to stay in the theater and stop the kids from fucking off... he did and we all had a good time for the rest of the movie...

[–]3lfk1ng 41 points42 points ago

He was trying to kick that marble before the kid stepped on it.

[–]bravoart 5 points6 points ago

Kids who act like this deserve what they get.

Once you see a kid come up and slap a trumpet into someone's face at attention, you never want to see a kid running anywhere near a marching band again. Knocked all the guy's front teeth out completely.

[–]Kaitar 0 points1 point ago

That would be horrifying. Luckily I play sax so I don't have to worry about my teeth getting knocked out on accident, unlike the brass players.

and I hope the kids parents paid for the trumpet players new fake front teeth.

[–]uB166ERu 18 points19 points ago

kid got what he deserved

[–]BatXDude 3 points4 points ago

I wonder what d have happened to the band guy...

[–]GeneralEvident 112 points113 points ago

I fucking despise gifs that could just as easily have been the short youtube clip with sound instead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzuVvlAuZmY

[–]TaintedSquirrel 114 points115 points ago

It's a million times better on the Tube because he falls on a cymbal crash.

[–]Breathing_Balls 40 points41 points ago

I have told you a million times before. Stop exaggerating.

[–]TaintedSquirrel 26 points27 points ago

Nope. It was literally a million times better.

[–]Sanitary_Lumpkin 4 points5 points ago

[–]TaintedSquirrel 8 points9 points ago

It was LITERALLY... a million times better.

[–]MrLovelife 1 point2 points ago

For the third time, stop picking on people.

[–]njdss4 8 points9 points ago

I wouldn't have watched it if you hadn't commented on the cymbal crash. Definitely a million times better.

[–]alucard_3501 0 points1 point ago

Yup. The cymbal crash made it awesome.

[–]NextDayAir 2 points3 points ago

let's not forget the "bow" by the tuba (too lazy to type out sousaphone) player at the end...

[–]prutte94 4 points5 points ago

But you just typed put sousaphone... MY OH SO FRAGILE MIND!!!

[–]tubabacon 2 points3 points ago

Well he is a tuba player. Nobody is a sousaphone player, they just happen to be tuba players playing sousaphone. It's perfectly fine just to call him a tuba player.

[–]scooterpie1878 31 points32 points ago

Because YouTube clips hardly ever do well on r/funny, everybody is all like 'Ain't nobody got time for that!' But if people post a gifs and you only have to watch 5 seconds it's much easier.

[–]NextDayAir 4 points5 points ago

truths here... if it was a video I would never have watched it... but the gif made me curious and then I watched the video clip afterwards...

[–]DeLoreanMotorCars 2 points3 points ago

Not only that, but youtube is blocked at a lot of places.

[–]The_New_Usual 4 points5 points ago

Even the comments on a kid getting tripped turn political on YouTube.

[–]Epxlol 3 points4 points ago

I'm confused why the score is 3-0...

[–]SystemOutPrintln 1 point2 points ago

Field goal?

[–]zero-2551 13 points14 points ago

i dont have time to go to another website

[–]Bakufun 17 points18 points ago

But... imgur is another website.

[–]zero-2551 -2 points-1 points ago

i dont go there i use Reddit Enhancement Suite i dont even have to load a new page unless i want to read comments

[–]Bakufun -2 points-1 points ago

But RES works for youtube videos. So you're still wrong.

[–]account512 3 points4 points ago

That's not RES, that's vanilla reddit. And it only works for submissions, not youtube links in comments.

[–]Bakufun 1 point2 points ago

But we were talking about if this had actually been a submitted video link. And it's RES, I'm pretty sure.

[–]account512 0 points1 point ago

It's not RES. Open up an incognito window or switch to another browser and see for yourself.

This is the 3rd "I'm pretty sure it's RES" comment I've seen today that is wrong. Why can't people just test things for themselves before they post comments like this ;_;

[–]brianhaddad 2 points3 points ago

I enjoy YouTube clips better also, but it's hard to have a YouTube video collection that can be easily stored and quickly browsed offline. You could download all the videos, but GIFs are much easier (and smaller) to store and browse through with an image viewer (like FastStone Image Viewer).

So I appreciate you sharing the video (it is quite enjoyable), but GIFs have their place in this world too.

[–]GeneralEvident 2 points3 points ago

That is an excellent point. I don't really mind gifs per se, there are some truly awesome ones out there (raptor jesus camp comes to mind), it's just that I always find myself yearning for context, or sound, or both. But yeah, I see your point. Would just wish it was the other way around more often (i.e. video submission, gif comment).

[–]brianhaddad 0 points1 point ago

That is also an excellent point. GIF submissions with video comments are putting the cart before the horse.

Ha. I just noticed your username. Are you Captain Obvious's ranking official?

[–]nexusofcrap 5 points6 points ago

Not everyone can watch YouTube at work. Get over yourself.

[–]FrisianDude 1 point2 points ago

One of the tags is 'fat kid' but that kid ain't fat. It ain't fat. It ain't nothing.

[–]Blakestra 1 point2 points ago

The vitriol on that youtube page is staggering.

[–]uB166ERu 1 point2 points ago

Nice try google

[–]tripled153 1 point2 points ago

The fact he takes a bow after makes this ten times better.

[–]TheHag 0 points1 point ago

Except when there's two idiots arguing about political correctness in the comments.

[–]YogurtShaker -1 points0 points ago

I don't feel like watching commercials, and I'm using a mobile device so it takes much longer to load. Gifs get all my upvotes, video links get all my Downvotes.

[–]mesamunefire -2 points-1 points ago

Agreed. The video is better on all levels. Its just been reposted so many times that this is the only way to get the karma from it.

[–]Hup234 15 points16 points ago

If that was my kid, there'd be two ass whoopins administered that day.

[–]loluwrong 8 points9 points ago

if he were my kid then he wouldnt have left the basement that day

[–]ncfoo 2 points3 points ago

Both to the kid hopefully?

[–]The-GrammarNazi 1 point2 points ago

The more I watch it, the funnier it gets.

[–]ThatGuyRememberMe 4 points5 points ago

As someone who is in marching band, he did the right thing. Stupid brats like him have to learn.

[–]Mimsy_borogoves 15 points16 points ago

[–]PullOutBoy 0 points1 point ago

[–]Mimsy_borogoves 0 points1 point ago

ITT = In This Thread

[–]virtyy 28 points29 points ago

Brat deserves it.

[–]The_Hammer_Q 3 points4 points ago

We did stuff like that at football games, people would try to break rank, you could slam your horn into their chest to keep them out. Kids would do it as a dare, half of the time they wouldn't take the dare.

[–]Dietdrbeer 5 points6 points ago

Ive dreamed of doing this to kids who run in my store.

[–]Badger_Storm 2 points3 points ago

That looks so satisfying.

[–]discretion 12 points13 points ago

Former sousy player, here.

Never break ranks. Disrespectful as hell. I bell-dipped someone that did it once, but the dude ducked and I missed him. Very satisfying gif.

[–]Lefthandedsock 1 point2 points ago

Disrespectful to whom?

[–]discretion 12 points13 points ago

To the band, they work hard on their precision and music.

[–]Lefthandedsock 4 points5 points ago

Well, that makes sense.

[–]narky1 3 points4 points ago

I came here for this.

The last time I saw this thread posted the entire thing was full of marching band members talking about how hard they are, and how you shouldn't disrespect them.

Kids do plenty of shit that is disrespectful. But they are kids, are they really being disrespectful if they don't know what's expected?

If a kid runs through someone's funeral the correct response is not to trip them.

That said. Funny clip.

EDIT: Apparently "never break lines" more important than "don't hurt kids". My mistake.

[–]Nole4694 5 points6 points ago

I have to disagree. There's a difference between not knowing they are being disrespectful and purposely doing so for the shits and giggles.

For instance, not two weeks ago I went to see Ted and there were these two obnoxious kids running around playing and chasing each other the whole movie. Obviously they didn't realize they were ruining the experience for the rest of the theater, and it would be overboard for someone to trip them or something instead of speaking to teh idiot mother who brought their 5 year olds to an R rated film.

This instance on the other hand seems much more like middleschool or 10-year-old dickery. They know exactly whats going on. Sure if he was making a fuss in the audience that's one thing. But to run out where a performance is going on and make it a challenge of running through the band breaking ranks, he more than deserves that face plant.

To use your funeral idea. If it was the child of someone attending the funeral who unknowingly passed or ran through would you be pissed off? Maybe, but probably more at the parent who didn't tell him how important this was. On the other hand, how would you feel about a group of kids in the distance snickering and laughing and then one running through to get attention and say he's a badass.

EDIT: And no I'm not a band nerd, nor do I hate children. Just pointing out that the kid isn't ignorant. He's a dick.

[–]narky1 0 points1 point ago

To be honest, I don't mind the "he was being a dick, i tripped him" excuse. But dont try to pretend that you are defending your honour or some shit that marching bands demand the same respect as say war veterans. (i'm not talking to you here nole, but the aforementioned band members with a superiority complex)

This thread is actually well behaved. The one I recall previously was literally post after post about people disrepecting band players then being served their comeuppance.

I think a lot of it was actually band-fiction.

[–]CozenOne 9 points10 points ago

You expected reddit to NOT be full of circlejerking band nerds with a superiority complex?

[–]narky1 8 points9 points ago

haha. Well said. I'm happy to concede that I am in fact an idiot.

[–]Hobbycoder 1 point2 points ago

These people are everywhere and it is always like: "You have higher moral standards than me? Fuck you! I hate you know! bllll sticking out tongue."

[–]Crackz0r 2 points3 points ago

Never break ranks mother fucker

[–]el_guapazo 4 points5 points ago

It seems that the child could have:

  1. been corrected by a parent, but it obviously wasn't going to happen.

  2. been corrected by another adult, but the child had no obligation to heed the correction.

  3. had someone intervene the way the band member did, but be labeled as a sadistic child abuser.

This is the same situation that you see in public schools. The child is out of control. The parent is unwilling/unable to intervene. The teacher could provide some direction but the child is under no obligation to follow. The principal could intervene but he doesn't want to appear "mean". All the while, the child is messing up lessons, activities, and general learning.

[–]madspanyard 0 points1 point ago

Anyone have the clip of the guy parachuting into a band standing just like that? At work no time to search

[–]ragemonger 1 point2 points ago

[–]Nemlet 2 points3 points ago

You can never trust a sousaphonist.... Euphoniums, however...

[–]pastisset 2 points3 points ago

Divine Justice.

[–]Bastien220 2 points3 points ago

Wow, I laughed so hard at this

[–]kellykat313 1 point2 points ago

Is it bad that i just watched this for five minutes straight laughing maniacally?

[–]11Toasty11 2 points3 points ago

Breaking ranks. I've beaten many a person with my sticks. As soon as I saw this video, my only response was, "Good."

[–]ACE_C0ND0R 2 points3 points ago

Back in the old days of Drum and Bugle Corps, breaking ranks was an ass whippin.

[–]hamiltenor 4 points5 points ago

Convincing people they don't want to run through the marching band was encouraged at my university.

[–]punkrocksnoopy23 2 points3 points ago

As a former marching band tuba player, I can tell you that this is typical of the tuba player mentality. Our tuba section in high school was like a non stop belushi skit, wild drinking and asshole attitudes. We ruled.

[–]Sit-Down_Comedian 1 point2 points ago

Don't fucking break ranks at a parade and this won't happen to you. Kid deserved it and the concussion.

[–]THE_POOPY_BANDIT 1 point2 points ago

Ehh. Little punk deserved it.

[–]nintendo65 3 points4 points ago

Little shit got just what was coming to him.

[–]bigg_capp 2 points3 points ago

I've wanted to do that so many times, but there are cameras ever where!

[–]Damasticator 1 point2 points ago

Looks like that kid...got his marching orders.

[–]SubAtomicPlayboy 0 points1 point ago

Have a nice fall.

[–]TURBOJUGGED 11 points12 points ago

Have a nice trip See you next fall.

[–]Palikk[!] 0 points1 point ago

The guy in the suit trying to dodge the camera really makes it.

[–]aperfectsircle -1 points0 points ago

what a dick.

[–]BrittanyRenegade 0 points1 point ago

I trip my kids ALL the time. And now they're big enough to trip each other. Yeeeessss my minions!

[–]RamPaige159 1 point2 points ago

This would make more sense if it was a trumpet player.

[–]voxdoc11 0 points1 point ago

The Camera doesn't lie

[–]watchesarecool42 0 points1 point ago

"OMG YOLOOOOOO!"

"Nope."

[–]YoureInAGhostStory 0 points1 point ago

Let's play Spot The Redditor!

[–]CODfiend -1 points0 points ago

Why?

[–]curlyvixen 0 points1 point ago

Don't know if its been said already, but that is actually what they tell you to do in marching band: if someone runs into the rows, you kick them to get them out of the way. Can't mess up the formation, particularly if you're actually moving.

[–]iMark70 -1 points0 points ago

Do that to my son and there will be blood. I would have broke his nose on the spot.

[–]Fartsohard 0 points1 point ago

It was a mistake that time.

Are you shore?

[–]Phatnoir -5 points-4 points ago

I'm siding with the kid.

None of any of you guys saying that he deserved it have ever done something stupid as a kid? No one's ever ran away from their parent in a crowd? Looks to me like he wanted to be part of the band festivities, instead an adult trips him and lets him eat asphalt.

Is this the way you want to educate children? By having strangers who are much older than the child inflict physical damage to them? This mentality of 'he deserved it' might fly in the playground among other children, but a simple harsh word or pointing to go away should have been enough from someone with apparent authority in the band.

[–]ConfusedWeasel 12 points13 points ago

I do agree with you that this punishment may be a bit harsh. However, as someone who plays in a marching band, people interfering with the block, throwing stuff for us to step on as we march, or trying to mess us up are incredibly annoying and frustrating. In addition, the video is absolutely hilarious.

[–]Phatnoir 2 points3 points ago

I can appreciate that. I just do not believe that the annoyance of the little kid warranted the face plant he got, but I suppose it might have been harder to break rank to tell him off.

It is funny though.

[–]Mimsy_borogoves 2 points3 points ago

I'm with you all the way on this. Children do stupid shit and should be punished for doing such shit, but not through physical harm. A strong authoritative verbal warning from their parent should suffice, and if not they should take the kid home and put them in their room without toys, videogames etc.

It is not a strangers right, nor is it anybodies to beat a child, because that's what this is, child beating. It seems that most of the commenters here will, or do already beat their children, because that's exactly how they are portraying themselves. This is not acceptable.

[–]Phatnoir 5 points6 points ago

I do not think that the people in this thread are akin to child beaters, but rather they have just never thought of what it is like to have a child under their care. I suspect many of them are from the eternal summer we seem to be having and with time and maturity they will have their own children someday.

Also, band kids are pretty vicious people.

[–]Wec4evar2 2 points3 points ago

Verbal warnings don't do shit. When you get older you'll understand this kid.

[–]Fantasticriss 2 points3 points ago

yes.

[–]xethus -1 points0 points ago

Is this the way you want to educate children?

No, this is the way I want to educate bratty little shits. Guarantee you he won't be running in between them again.

[–]fzer0 -1 points0 points ago

I hope you're trolling but if not, it's of your opinion that "crimes" like this deserve a physical punishment? So say you park illegally the punishment should be a cop punching you in the face (this assumes we scale the punishment with the crime)?

[–]CozenOne 5 points6 points ago

Yeah these same kids who think this is funny cry out when the occupy protesters get beaten for provoking cops

Don't even try to make sense of the hivemind

[–]xethus -2 points-1 points ago

Yea bro it's EXACTLY the same, hivemind be crazy.

[–]Sphinctuss 0 points1 point ago

I had parents that taught me not to do this shit, or that would be watching me. He deserved it.

[–]Connor6 0 points1 point ago

Goof for the musician. Why is that kid running through a band?

Yeah, let's laugh at little kids getting hurt!

Seriously, I'm not being sarcastic. I fucking hate children.

[–]hawleyal -1 points0 points ago

A friend of mine got tripped like this while running. Got dentures at 13. Laughed anyway. No one deserves this, though, cmon.

[–]But-ThenThatMeans -1 points0 points ago

I never knew that Ra's al Gul played the tuba.

[–]lurkingkong 0 points1 point ago
