Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

this is at Mobo sushi in Santa Cruz. they do it every Saturday night, and then someone has to donate a dollar to pay a penny for each drink, so everybody gets one free! (the establishment can't give out drinks for free)

People throw large parties at their house and want to mill about and entertain guests, not be stuck behind a bar making drinks. I've tended a couple private gatherings, it's usually pretty lucrative all around and the host is appreciative of not having to spend all night cleaning glasses & pouring drinks.

That's how bombs work, drop a shot of liquid into a larger glass of it and consume quickly. It's usually done for a good reason, some combination of things like if you're mixing ingredients that curdle quickly on contact as in an Irish Car Bomb or for presentation like a Flaming Dr Pepper.

I actually noticed that when I looked at the picture again... in fact some of them barely have anything in the glasses. I don't know what he was going for. Also, Car Bombs curdle really fast, so doing it like this would be really hard unless people were standing by to immediately pound them; else you're just wasting alcohol.

These things are really fun to set up, really simple to set up also. It's the spacing between the glasses and balancing the shots on them. The shot glasses need to be able to tap the next one as they fall into the drink. To narrow a shot with to wide a glass and it won't work.

First time I saw this was on Zane Lamprey's Three Sheets. So being a moron I of course suggested trying this at my local favorite dive bar. They all got a great kick out of it and so did the people at the bar. What they didn't get a kick out of was someone else days later using a glass that must have already been structurally damaged, or not enough liquid in the catch glass. It resulted in some broken glassware. Naturally I'm now now no longer allowed to do this at the bar.

We do this all the time at the bar, it's easy as fuck and the ladies love it. Other variations include simply pushing (or getting a girl to push) the first shot in and all other domino, or challenging the bar tenders to throw limes until one gets it in.

Such a simple trick for drop shots...

Pour x shots, pour x glasses of whatever. Line up the glasses, add an extra empty glass at the beginning, place the shots on the edge between glasses. Push the first shot into the second glass, and you have the above effect.

It's cool but that's actually a super easy trick that anyone can do. I went to a bartending school for a day (had to right a fake story as part of my broadcast journalism training) and they showed me how to do this and a few others. Really quite simple.
