Me yesterday when my PS3 froze. I restarted it and then it said all my files were corrupted. Two and a half years of gaming...gone.

Probably a bit too late to give you advice but its good for the future to prevent this or "cure" this : Backup your save files time to time or if you have some money get PS Plus and store your save files on their cloud service. Also, sorry to hear that mate here's an upvote.

Nah, I had to trade it in because I was short on money to buy another one I wanted. It was a few years ago I think and I was raging because of the data wipe.

Absolutely perfect haha Man I can't tell you the feeling I got when my actual game profile corrupted for the first time and I thought I had lost all my gamerscore, which at the time was nearly 30k. It was horrible... If I wasn't able to recover my gamertag all my efforts would have been lost.

This happened to me towards the end of Final Fantasy VIII. I had maxed out everyone's levels and the game froze while saving. It's been 12 years and I still can't bring myself to start over.

There is one game I have that would kill me if this happened. I got a trophy for getting 100 hours in the game, and I've probably played double, maybe approaching triple that. I'm about 4 trophies off platinum and they're all the end-game super grindy stuff.
