this isn't creepy as much as a horrific war crime

[–]AigooLinni 8 points9 points ago

When I went to Saigon, Vietnam, I went to a museum that was all about the Vietnam War. It had tanks, helicopters, etc. But, in a certain area of the museum, there were pictures of people who were affected by the Agent Orange. There was even a container that had a few babies that were deformed, like in the one you uploaded.

Is this real?

[–]RDarkLord 7 points8 points ago

It's called Ischiopagus. It is very real, and happens a lot more than you think. Taken from a medical dictionary I have: http://imgur.com/uTLhp

As a side note, my husband has the illustration tattooed on his left bicep. That's how I know of this juicy bit of WTF.

Cat-dog?

[–]Nigoltipples 2 points3 points ago

I came here to see if anyone mentioned cat-dog because that was my first thought.

I found it on Wikipedia, so take it as you will...

What's agent orange?

[–]Onnaque 7 points8 points ago

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agent_Orange

It is one of the chemicals we sprayed over Vietnams crops during the war. The affects of which we are still seeing today, on U.S. Soldiers as well as the Vietnamese people.

[–]wonteatbananas 6 points7 points ago

Not just crops, huge areas of jungle also. There's a dual purpose to defoliage: kill crops, and reduce cover. My 7th grade teacher explained that the vietcong's weapons and tactics were far more suited to a jungle environment than that of the US.

This map shows areas where agent orange was used to strip jungle, and where it was used to kill crops.

I've always found this photo to be aesthetic.. in a disturbing manner. it would be nice to visit the museum that showcases other agent orange exposures.

[–]Miora 6 points7 points ago

Oh...your so young to this place that your eyes haven't matured to the content on here.

[–]int3rwebz3 -2 points-1 points ago

I'm 14, but I was just joking. It's still kind of creepy though

[–]MittyMandi 7 points8 points ago

14 is young.

[–]int3rwebz3 0 points1 point ago

I know, but I'm also old enough not to be one of those annoying kids that run around causing trouble for the rest of the internet.

[–]Miora 2 points3 points ago

I was speaking account wise but ok. :D

[–]int3rwebz3 0 points1 point ago

Account wise?

[–]Miora 0 points1 point ago

Your account is only 21 days old meaning either you're new to reddit or something made you get a new account.

[–]taylorlongboard 0 points1 point ago

You really are 14 huh?

[–]int3rwebz3 0 points1 point ago

Well you can't make that up. I'm not a creepy Pedobear.

[–]thief88 1 point2 points ago

Why the fuck would they keep them in a bucket like that???

[–]Wry_Bred -3 points-2 points ago

Big deal. Americans abort 100,000 better-formed infants a year.

[–]adaranyx 1 point2 points ago

Yup, maybe if we're lucky we can double it soon.

[–]Slowtwitch -2 points-1 points ago

The pic of the plaster cast is part way down. [
