When he played for the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (Jackson Generals now), I would yell out "The Riot" when he came up to bat. It became quite popular and his last season there I had all kinds of people yelling it. He was and still is by far my favorite player to come through here in the 13 or 14 years we have had a team here. Also probably one of the most accessible guys that's ever been here always was out signing autographs, taking pics, etc.

If anyone misses him or his bat then they should be committed. A seriously average shortstop with a below average bat and white people worship him. Also the worst baserunner in Cubs history. I laugh everytime I see someone with his name on their back. He's not good.

Yea I won't deny we traded him for a bag of peanuts(Dewitt right?) but Ryan Theriot does absolutely nothing to help your team win. Barney can at least field and hes a better baserunner as well.

It is not. I didn't say that I wish he was still starting for us. But he's a solid glove and can actually take a walk now and then. Since we traded him, who have the Cubs had coming off the bench? The Riot is a worse option than Ian Stewart? Blake DeWitt?

i dont really know what role he would have on this team. theriot has that stupid double-clutch before he throws, which besides annoying, the cubs organization tried to get him to stop and quicken up his timing. he has atricious range. castros defense has steadily improved in the last three years, and barney is a very good defensive 2b. i dont expect theriot to be very good offensively considering his position and age, but his bat has never been a strength of his.
