Dude keep that shit up. I haven't jumped ship yet but waking up every morning sounding like a walker from The Walking Dead, it's getting fucking old.

[–]RudyBagels 1 point2 points ago

Hang in there too, man. Dont let shit like that control you.

[–]Blink182ismeh[S] 1 point2 points ago

I will man! I don't even want to smoke anymore, which is a great feeling.

[–]Blink182ismeh[S] 1 point2 points ago

Will do! Just slowly replace your real cigarettes with candy ones.

Just make sure to avoid excessive processed sugars which may contribute to tooth decay and unnecessary, empty calories and possible weight gain. Better to keep yourself busy with an activity to boost your metabolism like walking, running in place, jump rope, toning exercises, or burpees... and have some chopped up vegetables on hand as a replacement to the cigarettes, should you need them.

There are many over-the-counter remedies to help you quit smoking, including a wide array of expensive gum, patches, and even fake cigarettes, but now it appears there's a simple and natural remedy to help you kick the habit, eating more fruits and vegetables.

According to a new study, smokers who had fruits and vegetables four or more times per day were three times more likely to be free of tobacco after 14 months when compared to those who only ate fruits and vegetables twice per day on average.

The study involved 1,000 smokers all aged 25 and up. The participants filled out surveys about their tobacco usage and the amount of fruits and vegetables they consumed. Even when factors such as age, household income, ethnicity and sex were included, the results were consistent.

One reason for the success when more fruits and vegetables are consumed is that certain beverages and foods may make cigarettes taste worse. Some of those items include milk, dairy products, vegetables and fruits. On the flip side, products including red meat, alcohol, and coffee make cigarette flavor more appealing.

You really can’t go wrong with adding more whole fruits and vegetables into your diet. Not only can it help you quit smoking, but eating more colorful, whole foods has been linked to cutting cancer risk, aiding in weight loss, and lowering the risk of weight related diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease.

This smoking study supports one more reason to increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Even if you aren’t a smoker, making these changes serves only to benefit your health.

I just quit cold turkey, woke up on day and realized I didn't want one. Best day of my fucking life.

[–]ProofOfFaith 0 points1 point ago

Congratulations! Cold turkey is the best method if you know you have the fortitude, but it certainly couldn't hurt to boost your health all around with optimal nutrition, and as a positive side effect dull the craving for nicotine.

Good luck on your quitting!

[–]halstead987 2 points3 points ago

Congrats! I recently quit too. I've had dreams lately where I had a smoke, woke up all bummed out, then realized it was a dream. Very strange feeling and such a relief that I didn't fuck it up!

[–]Blink182ismeh[S] 1 point2 points ago

I just woke up from a dream like that, it was the last second of it but I was riding a giant duck with a cigarette in my mouth then it fell out and I woke up thinking I had dropped a cigarette on my bed for a few seconds.

[–]halstead987 2 points3 points ago

I thought you wrote giant dick at first.

[–]ThatShitClay 2 points3 points ago

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU DO IT!? Please share! I've been trying for months.

[–]Blink182ismeh[S] 0 points1 point ago

I quit cold turkey, I just woke up one day and didn't want to smoke anymore. Once you make it past the first three days it's smooth sailing. I thought I was never going to be able to quit, it'll happen to you just keep trying man.

[–]ThatShitClay 1 point2 points ago

That gives me hope. I hate smoking. Even when I'm smoking I hate it. But it's the only thing that calms me the f down...

[–]Fandango1978 1 point2 points ago

I did the same around 3 weeks ago. Have yet to even have any real cravings either. Smoked at minimum 14 a day from age 14-34. Decided I no longer enjoyed smoking and stopped cold turkey. habit is a whore though, Want to light up every single time I get in the car without fail. I was one of those who even if I put one out getting in the car, would light another before the car moved.

Oh yeah old habits die hard, it's still weird since my job was 90% smoking to make up for the down time that was probably the hardest part

[–]ProofOfFaith 1 point2 points ago

It's simply a change of lifestyle and habits. Get yourself some baby carrots, sugarless gum, and a good book.. And, think of all the add'l money you'll have at the end of the week to spend on other things, besides cigarettes.

[–]ProofOfFaith 0 points1 point ago

Perhaps this health quiz will provide incentive.. http://college.healthguru.com/quiz/health-impact-of-smoking-quiz/0 but, also consider positive habits to replace and distract your attn. and energy from grabbing a cigarette during the phase that it will be most difficult to break old habits. Typical initial phase to break a habit is 30-45 days.
