As a native Southern Californian, I can tell you those were just tiny rumbles compared to what a real earthquake feels like.

[–]Xemeriba 2 points3 points ago

Also as a native So Cal resident: There have been quakes? I didn't feel anything.

[–]ZebulonPike13 1 point2 points ago

Same.

ditto

i was on a roof when it happened too

twice in the same location is a little worrying

lived in so cal 30+years

[–]Gunslinger_ 2 points3 points ago

I feel the opposite. Every smaller earthquake releases built up energy from friction between two tectonic plates that now WON'T be released as part of a larger one. Relieves the tension, if only a little. Every little quake and aftershock reduces the possibility of a very damaging quake. The more in one area, the better for that area.

or they are foreshocks are a big one is coming

[–]KIAranger 0 points1 point ago

I'm still fearful for the big one that is overdue.

[–]nitefang 0 points1 point ago

It is. Little Earthquakes have pretty much nothing to do with bigger ones, but we are definitely overdue. We will almost certainly have a 6.5+ in the next 30 years.

As a native to Southern California, I didn't even know we had an earthquake until I heard about it on the radio.

Fun right? :)

I've lived here all my life, and last night I bolted from my apartment freakin out.

You should get under something or get next to something next time.

Bunch of small earthquakes relieves pressure. So thats good. What would suck is if our southern neighbors got a massive earthquake caused from all these fault slips.

[–]GroupDrink 0 points1 point ago

Consider yourself lucky. I found out about them on reddit. When the big one hits I'm going to sleep through it. And die.

[–]Kozmec 0 points1 point ago

Two. All these (two) earthquakes and their aftershocks. :)

Both had the same epicenter in Yorba Linda 10hrs apart. More must be coming!!! AHHHHH!!!!

[–]sleepyjon0 -2 points-1 points ago

Wait, there were Earthquakes? I thought I was just farting especially hard.

[–]alrightythen7 -4 points-3 points ago

I'VE SEEN THIS GIF SO MANY FUCKING TIMES. JUST STOP PLEASE STOP

[–]bryandenny71[S] 0 points1 point ago

I've seen it a bunch too. There are a ton of gifs that constantly pop up to have a joking representation of how someone feels about certain things.

I live a mile away from the epicenter; the first one was a, "wtf omg" moment when you just sit there. The second one which said was the same size was a "HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT" -- Grant it, I've been afraid of earthquakes my whole life. I've had health issues far surpassing the likelyhood of an earthquake getting the best of me; I was more concerned that my girlfriend and mother were fine. Frequent aftershocks could be a build up, but considering they've tapered down and have stopped for the time being that's a promising sign. They even said that a fault may lie where they just built the huge homes up there. -- Mother nature is going to run it's course with out without us here and considering we are indeed here, it's out of our control; Knowing that, fret not!
