Yeah, okay, you got me on that one.. Came here to ramble on about how the 2nd season isn't just what OP suggested, but you pretty much just captured it... His family sigh is the most anoying people ever! He keeps them safe, but she screws around and the wife and the son apparently have a competition going on who has most close calls or who dies first.. SPOILERS: Issue 48. The show is closest to issue 12 but you can't go by that. They were only at the farm for 2 1/2 issues of the comic instead of a whole season before they find the prison. Still, I agree, the tv series has a lot to cover before they get to Lori

    At least in the comic, it's dynamic.

    In the show it just drags the fuck on and they whine and bitch. In the comic it's necessary and they are ALWAYS under a veil of fear.

    In the show they are drinking lemonade on a fucking porch as his cheating of a whore wife gives him shit about something asinine, while he's trying to save his son's life.

    The show is a pathetic excuse for the comics. It's just sad and not watchable. Don't even get me started on the acting.

      Rick's just a poor excuse for a leader and should probably be replaced by Daryl. Shane, although uber sexy, was a complete tool that needed to die. Lori's just a dumb, whiny, annoying bitch that needs to die a slow painful death beside her son Carl, who just fucks up everything. Carl basically killed Dale and I'm glad he knew what he did because he needs to feel more than a bullet in his abdomen. Dale was pretty awesome but super nosy and needed to mind his business and leave Andrea alone. Andrea a tough motherfucker but so stupid. She shot Daryl and that pissed my whole family off. She was just trying to show everyone up, but you don't shoot the best character.

      If Daryl goes I will forever be saddened, because he's their only chance for survival and he's just so awesome.

      That was one of my frown spots. He's been using and re-using and re-using those arrows, they have to be packed with zombie filth in every crevice and cranny.

      I think something about exposure to the air changes how potent the virus is. It infects everyone by being airborne, but it can't turn them. If Daryl cleans the arrows, and the blood, saliva, or body fluid on them dries, it may still carry the virus, but it is probably the weaker modified virus that can infect them but not turn them. A bite gets the fresh, moist, liquid mixture of blood, saliva, and virus straight to the bloodstream and eventually past the blood-brain barrier. Just my hypothesis though.

      Here's my own personal favorite zombie virus backstory;

      The infection was supposed to be immortality. Special cells that would replicate and replace humans gradually, from the inside out, with versions of themselves that would never age and could heal from nearly any wound. Get the shot, say safe for a couple of months, and from then on you could take a shotgun blast to the chest and not die. Immortality!

      It worked great, until someone undergoing the transfer became alergic and their bodies rejected the new cells fiercely. The immortal cells stopped their growth as a skeletal frame of muscle threads and began treating the host body as first a disease, to be easily killed, and then as a source of food. Just enough intelligence and instinct exists woven as immortal fibers through the brain to make the skeletal bodies and their rotting flesh coverings a dangerous threat.

      The code of the immortal cells was such that if the brain was destroyed the rest of the cells would shut down of their own accord, rather than leave the still living cells of the body wither and waste away as a vegetable, and without the toughened skulls of the mature form of transformation the skulls grow weak and soft, an off button for the animated corpses.

      The nearly perfect cells infecting people still need food of course, and the dead host body becomes that source. If it stays moist it becomes the same as walking around with burgers strapped all over your body, but eventually the flesh becomes too decomposed to be good food. That is why the zombies eat, they know that fresh people mean fresh food, and it only needs to be inside the abdomen for rootlike tendrils from the shape inside to consume them.

      I agree without Daryl there isn't a single person that would survive in reality. He is the only one with any sense about the situation in the whole show. If I was with them in their situation I'd be damned before I let anyone tell me whether I could have my gun or not.       I hated season two. It was pretty much just, "Hey, let's dwell on the same dusty issues and problems for the entire season."       The problem, I think, was they used Volume 1 for Season 1 and Volume 2 for Season 2 but neither books have enough to sustain an entire season. From the looks of the trailer for Season 3, they are combining the next couple of books. So there should be a lot more going on. I'm pretty excited about it.

          Season 2 of the Walking Dead was 2 or 3 issues of the comic that they stretched out into 13 episodes. So the majority of it was just things they added to keep them on the farm (to stay within their budget).

          I could make an episode just as good as them for free. Get some of my friends to sit around at our barn and argue then have one guy come up as a zombie. Easily take him out then go back to whining about carl sophia and now the new stupid idea the baby. I hope they stick with the comics when dealing with these issues because if they don't change it up and do something they are going to loose all those viewers they have. I have seen every zombie film made practically the walking dead is more boring than any of them even the cheap ones. I really really want to love the show and I would if they would make it into something, all they have to do is read the comics and make a show based directly from that, each comic a couple of episodes and they could easily make the show the best beyond awesome. I mean this is the only show that I haven't been able to re-watch because it just doesn't have the substance to it. I have watched practically every sci fi series multiple times but as soon as I put on a walking dead ep I am like well this is sucks I don't wanna watch that again then I skip to the one zombie that episode if there is one and that one minute is about all I care to see watching it the second time. Does anyone else feel this way? Sorry for ranting on about it, I rarely vent like that but this show has just deeply dissapointed me. I don't wanna see it taken off the air I want to see it succeed greatly but to do that I feel that changes must be made in the upcoming season because if it is like the last one, for instance if another kid gets lost or it focuses on loris stupid baby then I wont be watching it. I would rather watch re runs of stargate than watch rick and lori whine and fight over shane and the baby. Also killing Dale off so early was such a dick move his character had so much potential and was one of the few I found likeable. I also feel that if carl had shot shane in the first couple of episodes instead of rick then it would have had a much better premise to start with. Why do they think we want to see a bunch of people drama and problems that have nothing to do with zombies in a zombie show.

          Wow, you've really thought about this. One of the things that sets the Walking Dead apart from other zombie films, shows, and comics, is the fact that it focuses on the people, not the zombies. I'm a huge fan of the comics, and fan of the television show, but I acknowledge that most of Season 2 was boring and unnecessary. I liked it because it gave more character development to Hershell and his daughters, but other than that, the producers had a bad approach to the drama aspect of The Walking Dead for season 2, which I blame on AMC slashing the budget, while demanding more episodes in the season.

          However, because Season 3 and Season 4 are focused on a major Point in the story, and that the budget has increased, I'm confident that it will be much better.

          HERE THERE BE SPOILERS!

          That had to be the cheapest season of any show ever produced. How many sets were there? The farm, the farmhouse (interior), the pharmacy and the bar.

          And the writing was just awful. They wasted so many potential plot devices it was just sad to watch.

          And then the finale...

          "They aren't tearing down trees or fences, but they'll tear right through this house! Better drive around in circles shooting in all directions instead of just piling into cars and leaving for a day and letting them pass by then coming back! We could even have Daryl drive off in one direction on his loud ass motorcycle to draw them away and then circle back! But no...this mayhem is better. And we've been on the farm long enough."

          Worst deus ex machina ever since the Governor was used to get them out of the prison.

          And then all the character flip flops.

          Hershel: "I'm a devout Christian and I believe all the zombies can be cured! Wait...you shot them all against my explicit instructions? Never mind...I was wrong because they need to keep one old guy around and the guy playing Dale is constantly complaining about Darabont's removal from the series so they're going to off him soon."

          Lori: "You need to kill Shane. He's a direct threat to you and your family. Sack up and finish him off...wait, you say you killed him? YOU MONSTER!!!"

          So yeah...I was clearly disappointed in this last season.

          Don't much care for Lori she is a bossy know nothing slut. Season two was boring I thought. If they would stick closer to the comics it would be much much better. You would think that there would be zombies more in a zombie show instead of stupid character interaction that is boring and has nothing to do with surviving. I may be biased but I think it should be more about the zombies and fighting to survive instead of arguing amongst themselves in a safe farm without a zombie in sight.
