In all seriousness, I once pulled a gun on a spider.

Story-Living in an apartment complex, thought I saw a mouse run behind the litterbox. "OOOH, so cute, I must catch it and put it outside."

Pulled the litterbox away from the wall, reached for the fuzzy thing....

It was a large tarantula. Obviously someone's pet that escaped their tank. Dont know what kind, just large, very furry, mostly black with some brownish stripes on the legs.

What followed was my own 7 minutes of terror. I grabbed my small and pitiful .22 cal handgun, but after a moments thought, decided I didnt want to deal with a cop aftermath.

By this time, it had moved across the dining room and was trying to climb the stairs.

Wound up beating it to death with a Swiffer mop. No one believed me until I showed them the body.

So, no. Not an overreaction at all.

Get one of those pneumatic BB guns that you need to pump multiple times. Pump it up a bunch, do not load a BB, and shoot the bug at close range with a burst of air. Or you could spray it with carb cleaner and watch its exoskeleton melt.
