Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Actually, a study has shown that many wild animals, ranging from stray dogs to raccoons, have learned how to use the underground, or metro, or subways in many major cities. They know how to get on safely, which stop to get off at, and everything.

[–]nlderek 73 points74 points ago

Video about stray dogs that learn the subway in Moscow can be watched here

[–]NotSureIfNameTakenOr 40 points41 points ago

What the hell, I thought that guy was joking.

[–]zyedy 7 points8 points ago

I saw the stray dog video a while ago and I couldn't believe it either. It turns out Moscow has a commuting dog population of several hundred, most of which live in the "badlands" outside the city, and "commute" into the center where all the people are to beg for food. Fascinating.

[–]alexxerth 31 points32 points ago

Could I be any less sarcastic?

[–]Psirix 10 points11 points ago

It's reddit. I assume everyone is sarcastic.

[–]nooknstuff 5 points6 points ago

Also sarcasm tends not to translate well to text.

[–]Groening_References 7 points8 points ago

A sarcasm detector. That's a real useful idea.

[–]ANAL_QUEEN 1 point2 points ago

Bite my shiny metal ass.

[–]Swiss_Cheese9797 7 points8 points ago

FRIENDS!

[–]Kestrel71 0 points1 point ago

Several times, I've seen pigeons hop on and off the tube in London.

[–]louky 12 points13 points ago

That guy is getting a PhD in moscow subway dogs.

[–]idiotdidntdoit 2 points3 points ago

that was very very informative. I can't believe that the dogs actually learned to wait for the green light before crossing the streets. Crazy.

[–]nlderek 0 points1 point ago

That was the most surprising thing about that video for me. Especially since the dogs would wait for the green even in the middle of the night. I thought dogs were colorblind...or perhaps they know the position of the light (or even perhaps there are tones for blind people at the intersection and they hear those?)

[–]Xveers 0 points1 point ago

Another possibility is that they've got some level of pattern identification going. Top light is bright, so no traffic going that way, or vice versa.

[–]specialk16 1 point2 points ago

Replying for later.

[–]rohei 64 points65 points ago

Plus the cheap bastards ride for free!

[–]kactus 2 points3 points ago

TURNSTILES BITCHES!

[–]Stephen_W_Hawking 28 points29 points ago

That's no regular fox. That's the Crack Fox

[–]iSpenny 6 points7 points ago

Upvoting as no one outside the UK will get that reference.

[–]_Rufio 7 points8 points ago

not so fast. 60% of shaman juice is manufactured in America.

[–]ampillion 1 point2 points ago

You know nothing of the crunch.

[–]FLorangegoblin 1 point2 points ago

It's Jerome before he got on the crack.

[–]idiotdidntdoit 1 point2 points ago

Firecracker fox

[–]melance 12 points13 points ago

So they're better at it than we are?

[–]QuaereVerumm 2 points3 points ago

So A Cricket in Times Square is real!

[–]bside 2 points3 points ago

Source?

[–]alexxerth 2 points3 points ago

nlderek just posted it, I know there's another about how raccoons are adapting to urban areas, but I don't have it right now.

[–]PlayingWithCum 0 points1 point ago

The sly son of a bitch.

[–]SirDerpingtonThe3rd 2 points3 points ago

Smell probably helps.

"Smells like fat tourists from the midwest, must be in midtown"

[–]cmaxim 0 points1 point ago

[–]idiotdidntdoit 0 points1 point ago

you gotta be kidding right? do you have a source to this study?

[–]imdrinkingicedcoffee 0 points1 point ago

I'm really tired and apparently stupid. Are you serious?

[–]manuel_robot_cleaner -2 points-1 points ago

Wow. The fact that that kinda doesn't surprise me really surprises me.

[–]imsecretlyadog 31 points32 points ago

Is that the Crack Fox!?!

[–]Cogwork 13 points14 points ago

I'm gonna put you in a dress and hurt'cha.

[–]silver_pockets 8 points9 points ago

[–]ArkadiusMaximus 57 points58 points ago

Foxes have places to be too!

[–]NorthboundFox 16 points17 points ago

See! This guy understands!

[–]allthefoxes 5 points6 points ago

Like /r/foxes ! :D

[–]Osiris32 83 points84 points ago

I'll see your fox and raise you a coyote

[–]Bromagnon 16 points17 points ago

cue collateral reference

[–]ckb614 2 points3 points ago

The post above this in r/all was "Dora the Exploder" Exploder is an Audioslave song and they used Shadow on the Sun in Collateral. I don't know what this means, but I'm gonna go listen to Audioslave

[–]NudeTayneMNW 3 points4 points ago

That's even more rare than the elusive Eraser reference.

[–]ladysansa 1 point2 points ago

Is that in Portland? wtf.

[–]Osiris32 2 points3 points ago

Keep Portland weird, provide public transport for wildlife.

I believe they even get a discounted Tri-Met monthly pass.

[–]Osiris32 0 points1 point ago

Written by Carrie Brownstein. Why hasn't this been an episode of Portlandia yet?

[–]Gingerbreadmancan 1 point2 points ago

Just a coyote.

[–]here_for_a_good_time 19 points20 points ago

poor guy

[–]Montuckian 21 points22 points ago

Poor guy?! I have to pay for the subway.

[–]here_for_a_good_time -2 points-1 points ago

lol

[–]ruin 19 points20 points ago

Probably figured out he was safer there. You tend not to see members of the landed gentry on the tube.

[–]IXTenebrae -1 points0 points ago

Hoped someone made this joke so I didn't have to.

[–]fallencathedral 13 points14 points ago

"Listen, if you see some guys in red jackets tell them I transferred to the Northern line."

[–]Dented 2 points3 points ago

Aren't we all wearing red-jackets according to you people?

[–]IXTenebrae 0 points1 point ago

What do you mean, "you people?"

[–]craylor 7 points8 points ago

This is so weird! I was just in London a month ago and my brother, friends, and I were shit faced drunk. Anyways, we were walking near the underground and we saw an animal chasing a rat. We were like, "WTF is that?" It wasn't a cat, and it definitely wasn't a dog. My brother suggested it was a fox, but we all said, "there is no way a fox would be around here."

You just settled it. Thanks.

[–]bunnymeee 16 points17 points ago

Foxes in the UK are sorta like raccoons in the US.

They are almost everywhere and they root through your garbage at night.

[–]cattreeinyoursoul 2 points3 points ago

We saw a fox in Dublin sleeping in a garden as we were walking along.

I think you don't see how many raccoons there are in the US because they only come out at night.

[–]_Choppy 1 point2 points ago

More precisely, at 3 in the morning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mG0odWIW3BE

[–]wolvmatt[!] 1 point2 points ago

The US is way too large and diverse for that to be a good analogy. I have never seen a raccoon in my life; however, I see a fox almost every week.

[–]shipman 6 points7 points ago

I have never seen a fox in my life; however, I see a velociraptor almost every week.

[–]MbMn91 1 point2 points ago

Well it's official, I'm moving to the UK.

[–]SaltDog 1 point2 points ago

I used to live in Fulham and would see them all the time wandering the park at night.

[–]blu_olivz 0 points1 point ago

lol and what were you doing wandering the park at night...?

[–]Cornwall 24 points25 points ago

Wow I'm so glad you waited a whole 13 hours before reposting it.

[–]hpwriterkyle 3 points4 points ago

No Fantastic Mr. Fox puns in here yet? I am disappoint.

[–]Diablo_Robotico 4 points5 points ago

That's amazing! Look at how clean that subway car is!

[–]cattreeinyoursoul 2 points3 points ago

That's because it's London. It smells clean down there, too. Not like New York or Paris.

[–]thisnotanagram 0 points1 point ago

they pay ten people to clean it. that one car

[–]divine_metaphysics 8 points9 points ago

Wild Vulpix used the metro. It's super effective...for going place to place.

[–]A_Wild_Abra 2 points3 points ago

She could just give me a call...

[–]NorthboundFox 0 points1 point ago

Why don't you just go fall asleep and teleport places like you always do you annoying shit. I will catch you one day; You just wait!

[–]DocFGeek 2 points3 points ago

For some reason I started hearing this...

[–]JackPrince 4 points5 points ago

Reminds me on typical 'the sims' music

[–]Toribor 5 points6 points ago

If you added some "Hubbaeeebooo Awabajaba? Woopeee hoodaah." nonsense language to it you'd be spot on.

[–]GirlLookAtThatTorso 1 point2 points ago

blarghee nargh!

[–]solidwolf 0 points1 point ago

[–]unhapztoms 1 point2 points ago

Holy shit that's clean

[–]Uptokies 2 points3 points ago

Mind the fox

[–]Pixelated_Penguin 2 points3 points ago

Reminds me of a fox I saw one evening on my way home in Birmingham, UK.

It looked both ways before running across the street.

That was in 1996. At this rate, they'll have their own monorail system by 2050.

[–]TheKibstar 2 points3 points ago

Lone wolf.

[–]Hristix 0 points1 point ago

Ahh, the joke is on you guys. One of the hallmarks of rabies in foxes is that they lose fear of humans and actually become..well..not necessarily friendly but they don't run at first sight. Think of a domesticated dog. Most domesticated dogs you could probably get to come up to you with some coaxing and pet them a bit before they lost interest and left (or you left).

This manifests itself as an entire extra early stage of the rabies infection. Foxes are overwhelmingly secretive in the forest, I can count on one hand the number of time I've seen them and I'm an avid hiker and like to go for drives out in the country. There's no way in hell a healthy fox is going to go on a subway.

[–]makegoboom 0 points1 point ago

Run and tell that! I have a friend who once was bitten by a rabid fox. That's no fun.

[–]sicknasty7 1 point2 points ago

"the one guy no one wants to sit next to" I would!

[–]RemyTaveras -1 points0 points ago

It reminds us of the hunt.

[–]glaigas 1 point2 points ago

Those are some quality seats. Wish the 7 had seats like that.

[–]thisnotanagram 0 points1 point ago

actually they are super hard right underneath the fabric. and the fabric is crusty.

[–]BeatlesForSale 0 points1 point ago

I want to know where you found a tube carriage so empty...

[–]Dented 0 points1 point ago

You never pick the empty carriage..ever, because that carriage is the a) puke carriage b) homeless carriage or c) if you're really lucky, the one where a homeless person took a dump.

[–]BeatlesForSale 0 points1 point ago

Luckily I've never seen anything worse than a homeless person on a tube carriage.

[–]Dented 1 point2 points ago

Come to NYC..

[–]Pixelated_Penguin 0 points1 point ago

Or it's the fox carriage.

[–]RaeFlynne 0 points1 point ago

The guy just got done with his nine to five. What's so odd about that?

[–]AStabToTheEye 0 points1 point ago

he looks scared :T

[–]refur 1 point2 points ago

the yellow rails make me think this is in Berlin, but I could be wrong. anyone know?

[–]sporkanator 5 points6 points ago

It's the circle line in London

[–]sihnon 2 points3 points ago

Actually it could be the District line. The Wimbledon-Edgware Road branch of the District line uses the Yellow-bar trains as well.

[–]Dented 2 points3 points ago

Mighty distressing when getting home very very late/early in the morning.

[–]sihnon 2 points3 points ago

Worse still if you accidentally get on one, find yourself in Wimbledon, then in an attempt to get back you accidentally get on a City Via Victoria Line train (also using the yellow bars) instead of the District line you arrived on. It'll be fine until you hit Earl's Court, but then you're probably going to get very confused. Ah to be a Londoner..

[–]refur 0 points1 point ago

aha! cool, thanks :)

[–]Leopardbluff 0 points1 point ago

This fox riding for free is why my taxes are so damn high!

[–]LunaFaye 0 points1 point ago

I hear this in David Bowie's voice "Just a fox on the underground... the UNDERGROUND...."

[–]toejam10 0 points1 point ago

[–]brandoniusly 1 point2 points ago

That train is so much nicer than anything I've seen in Chicago. WTF.

[–]leshake 0 points1 point ago

You've probably never heard of him.

[–]sweYoda 1 point2 points ago

Firefox are trying a new advertising method.

[–]Anttu 0 points1 point ago

Victoria Line?

[–]I_Am_A_Pumpkin 0 points1 point ago

false, this train is empty

[–]pmfr 0 points1 point ago

I like the way the title sounds almost like a rap lyric.

[–]The_Earl_Of_Grantham 1 point2 points ago

Foxes in the UK = Racoons in America

[–]wakawakaflame 0 points1 point ago

poor fox, remember seeing these buggers when i would walk around London at night without the tube, man London is pretty big

[–]kentherbnek 1 point2 points ago

Indiana Jones needs to show up and be all like "No ticket."

[–]brownpixel 0 points1 point ago

Foxes are supposed to be in tunnels underground. It's unnatural for humans to travel place to place in underground tunnels. Bipeds and tunnels don't go together. She's just reclaiming her territory.

[–]miurabull 1 point2 points ago

Wonder if it has a valid Oyster card?

[–]tophatpainter 1 point2 points ago

Reminds me of this one post I saw on Reddit once...

[–]tallpapab 0 points1 point ago

Best part: Those damned equestrians can't follow me down here with their fluffing trumpets and such.

[–]Aldorf 0 points1 point ago

Just a city fox.

[–]talldarkandasian 1 point2 points ago

"Via High Street Kensington and Victoria."

I always lose my shit when I hear that prerecorded woman's voice.

[–]KUZCGG 0 points1 point ago

I hope he makes it off safely! How scary

[–]slinkyfarm 0 points1 point ago

That fox better be careful. There are places where the cops will beat you down for sneaking onto the subway without paying the fare.

[–]zacdenver 0 points1 point ago

I wonder how much credit he has left on his Oyster card?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

"How did I get here?"

[–]wonderwheels 0 points1 point ago

That looks like the skytrain in Vancouver.

It's London.

[–]cattreeinyoursoul 2 points3 points ago

Yes, see how clean it is? London.

If that was the Paris Metro you would actually be able to smell the piss through your computer. True story.

[–]Dented 2 points3 points ago

Don't forget the gypsies shoving babies or accordion music in your face.
