I've never understood this whole 'LET'S MAKE FUN OF STUFF THAT DOES NOT FIT MY PERSONAL PREFERENCES' thing that permeates on reddit. I'm sure many people like their music, so why would you wish them to stop making music? Sounds like a dick move.

I don't have a problem with LMFAO. Actually I like it.

I've not ever found any music forced down my throat. If I'm in a new area I may have to scan the channels and skip past the country. But I don't ever remember firing up Reddit: "GARTH BROOKS IS QUITTING MUSIC: THIS IS HOW I FEEL".

/r/country keeps to themselves. None of them have ever pulled a dick move in the name of Country music, so why the fuck does it bother you if LMFAO or Lil'Wayne continue to publish music?

Edit: Country was just an example. There are other genres I don't like. I just leave them be as long as they leave me be.

It's good at what it's meant to be: Catchy pop dance music.

Also their music videos are hilarious, and show (along with interviews) that they don't take themselves or their music too seriously. That seems to be pretty uncommon with pop stars these days.

OMG you guys! Music exists that doesn't conform to my specific tastes and as so is utter crap that only philistines could enjoy! Nobody could ever like anything outside of my preferences, and absolutely nobody anywhere could have a varying taste in music that spawns many decades and genres! If someone likes LMFAO then they've never heard of the greats like Queen, Led Zepplin, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Dream Theater, Mars Volta, Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin, (random obscure band that you've never heard of because they're not popular to such filth as yourself)! ill conform to the hate-bieber bandwagon, as if anyone cares what i do, but i gotta say i've never even heard a song by him on the radio or anything. his music hasn't really made me, personally, suffer at all. i didn't really enjoy seeing him pretend to be good at basketball in the 2011 nba celebrity game, but i'm glad i got to see scotty pippen block him..

that's a video taken by a fan but it shows the block better than any other version i could find in 5 minutes.

Yeah. He was wide open for most of his shots, but he did drain 3 or 4 NBA range threes. If I'm not mistaken, his shooting % was pretty good too. He doesn't look like a horrible ball player.

To be honest it's really not that hard to make a top 40 hit. I'm sure with some patience and practice most people could do it within a couple years. Not to mention that half of the music out there today is shit anyways. I just wish that we could go back to the days of amazing progressive rock and not this teen crap. Especially Lil Wayne, DAE think his lyrics are dumb?oh and what about Nickelback? I'm sure I can't be the only one that doesn't like them right? A better celebrity to look up to would be perhaps Carl Sagan or Neil Degrasse Paul. You know...there is a whole generation of kids these day who adore today's music, and they are not all that sad about the lack of progressive rock on the charts these days.

The only way we have to really measure how 'good' a song may be is by the rankings. Sales, exposure, all that... so until there is a better way to measure how good a song is, bitching that songs are bad just because they are popular is pretty much just infantile.

That's not to say I love diminutive wayne and the sounds he conjures from his blasthole. I just study trends in pop music.

don't think it's so easy. It's not really much about what you're singing about or how is the song like. It's the mixing and mastering done by pros with 20-30 years of experience that do mainly everything. And this wave of commercial music, music on tv, hasn't been any good in the last 30 years as in general , not specific tracks.

This isn't a choir solo. The individual ability of one person to sing has very little to do with the popularity of a song. Some people just have a hard time accepting that not liking the majority favorite doesn't make them better, or give them better taste. It just makes them an asshole when they won't shut up about it.

I mean seriously, I don't know what the fuck a bumblebee merry-go-round is, but I'll listen to Owl City sing about that shit for hours. It's awful music but I love it.
